I'm REALLY unclear on how this is going to work but apparently production has begun on Passion of the Christ 2.

Jim Cavizel will return as Jesus

Of note... this is the Russo Brothers' lowest rated film with a 24% on RT. (Up from it's debut at 10%!)

It also cost $320 million to make.

Hoo boy.

Russo Brothers have the reverse Midas touch. Great at comic book movies so far, bad the rest.

God I LOVED Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. My only complaint was that there were all these lesbians (and they make a point of them being lesbians) but... well you know where I'm going with this. It was exploitation with no edge, lets say, but it was really good natured and sweet and funny.

Technically could go in the business thread but

Ketchup Entertainment has officially acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Coyote vs Acme from Warner Brothers

The expectation is the movie will now release in theaters sometime in 2026

That’s great, but didn’t Zaslav already get a write-off for shelving it? I have no idea how that works. It makes me think of when Rick Rude couldn’t come out of retirement because he cashed in his Lloyd’s of London policy and he would have had to pay them back to wrestle again.

I am not positive but in reading around it sounds like corporate loop holes that business get to take advantage of

Basically - since WB didn't specifically name the movie in its earnings, its a loophole

Quote

Friday brought no definitive news on Coyote vs. Acme‘s future, but there are troubling signs for those rooting for its release. As part of an earnings filing, Warner Bros. Discovery said it wrote off $115 million in content due to abandoning films in the third quarter of 2023 as part of a “strategic realignment plan associated with the Warner Bros. Pictures Animation group.”

Part of those $115 million in newly disclosed write-down costs could conceivably belong to Coyote vs. Acme, a $70 million feature whose fate has been hanging in the balance for several months.

Now they can technically still write off like $20 million because they claimed the movie cost them $70 million and they sold it for around $50 million

They announced John Wick 5, plus an animated prequel and a spin-off about Donnie Yen's character from 4 directed by Yen.

Fountain of Youth

Director: Guy Ritchie

John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Stanley Tucci

Another DaVinci Code/National Treasure clone with the added bonus of the trailer using some weird ass orchestral version of U2's "Still Haven't Found What I Am Looking For"

I am not putting this in the Horror thread. Just watch the trailer, you will understand why

Naked Gun looks so fucking good. And it's basically a Lonely Island movie so I have a ton of faith in Akiva Schafer delivering on this.

Everyone who was crying about this better go see this fucking movie like 10 times and buy the blu-ray. My bet is on the movie actually being hot garbage. Same with that other one that's out soon (wasn't that also saved by the same company?) and the Batgirl movie.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't associate the identity of WB with the Looney Tunes. I bet my parents do, though.

1. Chris Pratt is in too many movies.

2. I'll guarantee some of this script was written by ChatGPT

3. Chis Pratt is in too many movies.

I am assuming you mean The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

If so - that came out already (as in a couple of weeks ago)

It technically is still in theaters but as per usual now - it hit Apple+ already
