I'm having to make up for lost time due to Platinum hunting lol. The first two Insidious films are closely related and are good. 3 is tangentially related, completely different pro- and antagonist but has some good stuff going on (seriously, the girl hiding under the bed while stalked by the demon goes on forever and is a glorious riff on similar tropes). 4 is a shitty prequel to 1 & 2. 5 is a sequel to 1 & 2 and I fell asleep on it. Conjuring 1 is pretty good, 2 is decent, 3 is crap. I just saved you some time!
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Chris Columbus says Gremlins 3 will feature practical effects and puppets instead of CGI. 2
Curt McGirt Posted February 3 Posted February 3 If it doesn't feature a practical Joe Dante, I'm not interested. 3

Andrew POE! Posted February 7 Posted February 7 My expectations for Jurassic World movies are sub-basement level. If it goes through the runtime and doesn't completely fail as a movie, I'm satisfied. I still think Fallen Kingdom is terrible, but the shots look pretty.
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 11 Posted February 11 FRIENDSHIP Starring Tim Robinson, Paul Rudd, and Kate Mara -- Personally, I prefer the much funnier 'bad neighbor' movie, Rear Window. 1 1
Zimbra Posted February 11 Posted February 11 The folks that did Ready or Not are working on an Art Bell biopic with Paul Giamatti as bell. No word on who will play Mel Waters or his hole.

I swear this looks like a I Think You Should Leave sketch. Hell, this might be the I Think You Should Leave movie like how Wet Hot American Summer was The State movie.
clintthecrippler Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I love that the FRIENDSHIP trailer is cut to make it look like a serious A24 thriller. If you don't know Tim Robinson it doesn't look like a comedy
(BP) Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Connor O’Malley meeting his annual obligation to have a weird walk-on role in an A24 movie. They should just write him a check and let him make whatever unhinged project he can dream up. 2

Agreed on Detroiters being fucking awesome, being a Michigan native I do admit there is some bias from my end though. The episode where Kevin Nash plays his dad returning from the insane asylum (complete with a scene referencing the 1987 Fat Boys vehicle Disorderlies) is neck-and-neck for my favorite alongside the episode where former Detroit Piston Rick Mahorn finds his shoes as a budding local thespian. What an insane yet also somehow very warm-hearted show. It's worth taking the plunge on a single-month Netflix sub to binge through all three seasons of his sketch comedy show, I Think You Should Leave. Perhaps the absolute finest mix of awkward cringe and honest-to-god gut-busting laughter. His episode of The Characters also on Netflix is worth checking out as well, the sketch where he basically plays JUMPING JEFF FARMER is very relevant to the overall interests of this board 2
odessasteps Posted February 14 Posted February 14 There’s a new Bridget Jones movie? Completely sailed under my radar until i just got a pop up about it from Peacock. 1

It was a straight to Peacock release in the U.S., though I do think it got a theatrical roll out in at least parts of Europe.
Andrew POE! Posted February 14 Posted February 14 On Swift Horses Probably a few people here will want to see this
RIPPA Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 Random Tidbits After the Hunt - directed by Luca Guadagnino and staring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri - has gotten a release date of Oct 17, 2025 (that is nationwide, it is having a limited release starting on Oct 10) M. Night Shyamalan's next movie (the one staring Jake Gyllenhaal) will be called Remain. It is based on an original story created by Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks (yes, THAT Nicholas Sparks)
Andrew POE! Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I'll be there day 1 for Luca Guadagnino's new movie. It's crazy that he did Challengers, Queer and After The Hunt in 2 years, which is unheard of in today's Hollywood. (I still wish A24 would hurry up and announce a physical release for Queer)
Mister TV Posted February 14 Posted February 14 (edited) O’DESSA - The look of this is what I always imagined a movie based on Pete Townshend’s Lifehouse(Who’s Next) would look like. Also, god forbid something original actually gets a run in theaters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5H8uOMvibY Edited February 14 by Mister TV
hammerva Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Maybe this should go in the documentary thread instead but it seems like it is an actual movie. Given that it was done by the same people as the Mr Rogers one, I can't wait to see this THANK YOU VERY MUCH | Official Trailer | Drafthouse Films
odessasteps Posted February 15 Posted February 15 A doc about Andy should be a multi part series, way too much to fit into one movie.
RIPPA Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Benedict Cumberbatch will replace Tom Hardy in Cary Fukunaga’s Blood on Snow Hardy had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts
