Officially got my first Platinum on Miles Morales

I am a little confused because it popped before I even finished the game and with trophies still locked (at least in my menu) but I also have no idea how you Playstation folks do things

So last year I played the following:

KH1

KH2

KH Chain of Memories (still sucks)

KH Birth by Sleep (still playing)

Way too much WWE2k24

FF16 (actually got the Platinum on this one) and replaying OG FF7

Tetris Effect

Hades (so hard but so good)

Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga

Sonic Mania

A lot of Streets of Rage 4 weekly survival playthroughs

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection and realised my reaction timing is trash now

Castlevania Requiem

Overcooked

Sifu (again reaction time is trash so this was a hard game to play)

Untitled Goose Game

And I enjoyed all of it and my backlog is gross. Here's to this year!

Random question. If I gave a Persona a shot, is 4 Golden the one that's the *one* to try?

No, it's Metaphor Re:Fantazio. 😀

(Really, Metaphor is just a medieval Persona...)

Spoilers for the Astro Bot DLC:

Spoiler

Miles Morales and his bodega cat buddy make an appearance, and they are super-adorable in bot form and have a neat animation that happens when you punch Miles (as you are meant to do to all the bots).

Okay - beat Miles Morales. I knew it was "shorter" that a regular Spider-Man game but either I was way further along than I realized or it was really short

Not going straight to Spider-Man 2 since I suddenly have had my fill of stealth takedowns for the moment

Back to the pile of shame

NONE OF YOU EVER TOLD ME ABOUT THE STUPID REQUIRED ICE CREAM BEAT MINI GAME IN KINGDOM HEARTS BIRTH BY SLEEP!!!! GAAAAH!

Ok, that's some time I won't ever get back just to progress in this game. I can't imagine making it a required to get the highest tier score was enjoyable for people. And it's a bad rhythm game because the timing wasn't adjusted to account for the delay in HDTVs.

Aside from that, I still like this game play and upgrade system. I finished Terra's story (I flip flop between him being an idiot or just that their master failed to actually teach them anything aside from combat) and I'm halfway through Ventus' story. This is really helping fill in the blanks for KH3.

I finally beat Astro Bot today. The square and cross face button levels can die in a fire. Not sure I'll Platinum it unless Team Asobi patches the game to make it easier (as in you don't get killed in one hit by enemies).

I think I'm approaching that 3/4 place in Indiana Jones where I'm ready to finish it. Since I'm slow playing maybe an hour a day, it's not as bad as when I play a narrative game in longer sittings.

Im more trying to plow through MLB the show to get as many collections done before the new version comes out jn a few months.

I'm enjoying this game, but it has some of the strangest development choices I've come across in quite a while.  It is like they decided, "we don't want to make the game too violent, so the game will punish players for using guns.  So, instead you pick up a pipe wrench or a sledgehammer, sneak up behind enemies, and bludgeon them in the back of the head.  Not only that, we'll have some of the best sound design ever so you can really feel the impact."

The turn this game makes from cute cat simulator to horror is quite jarring

I have gone out of my way to not use guns unless I absolutely have to do so.

Ooof - the only reason I am sticking with this game is because it is short but even then I don't know how much I have left

I posted in the Discord, but I had my best Balatro run ever on black chip difficulty. Made it to ante 11. Had my highest ever score on one hand at 3.9 million (4 of a kind Queens with Joker built up to 5.5x from skipping blinds, another 4.xx multi for adding cards to my deck, 4x multi for a 4 of a kind with a 1.5x modifier on it and the other two Jokers helped too. I don't even think 4 of a kind was my highest-level hand either. This was also on the basic red deck, so nothing fancy.

I've now run into the issue of playing so well and feeling like where I go from here.

As for Path of Exile 2, I totally borked my build on a respec. Decided to change from a grenade witchhunter merc to a lightning witchhunter merc. I'm able to clear mobs pretty quickly, but I do zero boss damage. So for now I'm just going to grind away at quests to try and get some higher level skill gems and then hopefully get the 2 skills I'm missing to complete my build. I also need to go on the marketplace and find some gear to boost my spirit above 30 so I can add on support gems for my spirit skill.

And for Christmas my daughter got the new Zelda game, "Santa" got my daughter and me the Silent Hill 2 remastered for PS5, and I got Astro Bot from my older daughter. I really want to play all of them, but I'm so fucking addicted to PoE 2 and I'm trying to get my hand-tool woodworking bench cleared off in my basement to turn it into a maker station and setup my Silhouette Cameo 5 (it's a fancier Cricut) and the 3d printer I got for Christmas. I have the itch to start printing shit to organize all of my kitchen drawers, office drawers, and pantry.

I still haven't hit NaN on Balatro. I've gotten extremely close, but not quite.

I just got back into it and am working through the decks with all stakes completed very slowly, like it'll be a years-long thing for me rather than an intense attempt at completion.

Bit late to the "2024 recap" party, but I finally stumbled on my 2024 year in review on Steam.

Seems I spent 81% of my PC gaming time on Old World and 18% on Book of Hours. A half dozen other games accounted for the remaining 1%.

Perhaps I'm in a rut?

Now I should see if I can find something similar on my Xbox...

My 2024 Steam recap was basically ALL Helldivers 2. Or at least a significant amount of it was. The rest was Balatro, Magic Arena, Tabletop Simulator (playing D&D or 7 Wonders over Discord) and a tiny little bit for Dota 2 or Gloomhaven.

I go back and forth between P4 and P5 as favorites, but hands down P5 is the way to start IMO. It’s just much more fleshed out, lots more to do, much better dungeon design, social links and past times are deeper. P4 might have better cast and characters, but is more dated and limited. Might as well start with the most successful, acclaimed iteration and if you like it go back to P4 and P3. I couldn’t finish P3 tho, while a great game, the dungeons were extremely tiring by the end and the gameplay loop was just more of the same with less to do. They don’t reinvent the wheel much in them, so it kinda reminds me of FFIV-VI. You could easily prefer any of the 3, but the last one of the trilogy will make the best first impression IMO.
