Brian Fowler Posted February 3 Posted February 3 14 minutes ago, EVA said: Ryan Grubb’s odyssey to becoming Alabama’s OC has finally come to an end. Saban tried to hire him in 2023, but he elected to stay at Washington. DeBoer tried to bring him with him from Washington in 2024, but he chose to take an NFL job with the Seahawks instead. You can’t win against fate. Hell, DeBoer did take him with him. For a few days.

Contentious C Posted February 12 Posted February 12 In news that will make Fowler happy, OSU is evidently hiring Matt Patricia to be their DC. Expect that unit to stink terribly for a season or two.

The game routinely draws 60,000 fans and canceling it will be a very unpopular move. Nebraska did indeed cancel their spring game Today both Texas and USC said their are cancelling theirs Texas cited the much longer season they just played (saying they played "4 extra games" and the wear and and tear on the players. Sark apparently wants to switch to more of a NFL model and do some version of OTAs USC basically is saying the game is too costly with no real upside and a real downside in injury risk (FSU also cancelled their spring game but that is because of stadium renovations) 1

On one hand, stepping all the way from the MAC to the NFL is a big move up. But going from head coach all the way down to position coach is a pretty big drop off.
EVA Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Probably took a look at his roster going into spring and said, “Yeah, I’m probably getting fired next year,” and started looking for the eject button. Always looks better on the résumé to move on than get fired.
Tabe Posted March 4 Posted March 4 FSU and Clemson have settled their suits with the ACC. Exit fees have been dropped significantly and teams leaving retain their media rights. Money distribution will be based on TV ratings.
Brian Fowler Posted March 5 Posted March 5 ACC should be solid for five years, but then it's only a $75 million buyout. So if the SEC or Big 10 want them (or UNC, Miami, whatever) it'll almost certainly be doable. And the Big 10 media rights come up the year before that, so if you are looking for a point where the major conference carousel might start spinning again... 1
RIPPA Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Well Bowling Green has turned around and offered Eddie George their HC job Not official yet but there is “mutual interest”
Brian Fowler Posted March 20 Posted March 20 If anyone remembers back before Connor Stalions was the big name in Michigan scandals, Matt Weiss was a sudden shock firing during the 2023 off-season, with the Campus police and later FBI investigating computer related crimes. Some people jumped to the absolute worst possible conclusion. Others decided it had to be linked to the later scandal. Well, he was finally charged for federal crimes for somehow having obtained access to a database of college athletes accounts from across the country, used that access to then successfully access multiple social media and digital cloud accounts of literally around 2,000 athletes and, amongst other things, download their private, intimate photos and videos that they had shared with intimate partners and the like. So... Yeah that's not great.
Brian Fowler Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) He apparently obtained said access to the database back when he was still an assistant for the Ravens back around 2015. Allegedly he accessed over 150,000 people's information in the third party database, and got deeper into 2,000-3,000 athletes digital lives. Mostly female athletes. Edited March 20 by Brian Fowler
RIPPA Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Tennessee State has hired Reggie Barlow to be their HC Barlow had been the HC of the DC Defenders in the UFL - the same UFL that's season is supposed to start next weekend
RIPPA Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Stanford has fired HC Troy Taylor Quote The decision comes a week after ESPN reported that two outside firms had found Taylor bullied and belittled female athletic staffers, sought to have an NCAA compliance officer removed after she warned him of rules violations and repeatedly made "inappropriate" comments to another woman about her appearance. Reminder - that Andrew Luck is now Stanford's GM and was the one who made the decision Reminder Reminder - Andrew Luck meet with the team on Thursday while Taylor was present and reaffirmed his support of Taylor as HC So y'all can see how well that decision went over with donors 1
RIPPA Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Stanford is hiring Frank Reich to be interim HC Basically both sides agreed that Reich will only coach for one season and then Stanford can run a full nationwide search
Brian Fowler Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Two weeks ago, Kent State put head coach Kennin Burns on administrative leave while investigating him for an undisclosed reason. Whatever that reason was must not be good, because they just fired him and named the OC interim coach for the upcoming season.

RIPPA Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 You know it's not good when the University just tells the media to "refer to previous articles" about their HC Also I love his lawyer trying to be all "MERITLESS FIRING~!" Dude - your guy has won 1 game in 2 years. That's enough on its own

Dude - your guy has won 1 game in 2 years. That's enough on its own Don't worry guys, I took over Kent State in College Football 25. They're in good hands. Fun fact, I was a football obsessed kid who actually lived in an off-campus apartment at Kent State for the last year my mom was in school. I don't think it ever crossed my mind to ask to go to a Kent State football game.
Brian Fowler Posted April 12 Posted April 12 In other news, reports and sources are indicating that Nico Iamaleava is, essentially, holding out at Tennessee and threatening to enter the Spring portal.

My roommate and I preferred to stay home and watch Michigan instead. I went to one game in four years. Hockey on the other hand...
