Which dIdnt help the right wing Christian gimmick Well, that happened, but I think that was even before he founded Promise Keepers. ------ I wonder if some collective/booster is going to float a big number in the general direction of Quin Ewers in the next couple days to try to get him to change his mind about the draft.
hammerva Posted January 13 Posted January 13 So apparently Carson Beck is going to Miami for about 4 million. if true, it makes the Quinn Ewers 6 million NIL talk seem more realistic. Well realistic if you believe that a college QB is worth more than 3 million
EVA Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Penn State’s two-headed monster at RB is returning. Singleton and Allen will forego the Draft and complete their college eligibility. Both were projected to be in the Top 10 RBs in this year’s Draft. In the NIL + revenue sharing future, you’re probably going to see more 2nd/3rd day “name” talent stay in school for more money. But it’s an interesting balance. The short-term money is bigger, but you’re putting off your second NFL contract by another year, while adding more miles to your body.

RIPPA Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Former MLB player (and first round pick in the 2017 MLB draft out of HS) Bubba Thompson has enrolled at South Alabama and plans to walkon He was a QB in High School but who the fuck knows what he is gonna do now For context of his age - he was HS teammates with Jalen Tolbert
EVA Posted January 14 Posted January 14 With his career in the big leagues clearly washed, he probably realized he could make more money via NIL by coming back to Mobile than by bouncing around the minors for another year or two. He was not a highly rated football prospect, though. Most of his offers from SEC schools were just part of a sales pitch to get him on campus for baseball. I wouldn’t expect much from him, honestly.
Brian Fowler Posted January 18 Posted January 18 The Xavier Lucas Wisconsin-Miami thing might get real fucking interesting real quick here. (The short version; two months ago Lucas, coming off his freshman season with the Badgers, signed a two year revenue sharing deal with Wisconsin, but then applied for the portal. Wisconsin, citing the two year deal as binding, refused to enter his name. He has now transferred as a student to Miami and intends to officially transfer as a player in the spring window. Both sides have sabre rattled about lawsuits.)

Since the NCAA is 0-3548 in lawsuits, maybe they should work on a solution to make the future better and more sustainable instead of trying to enforce their own rules. Or just go away completely.

And that isn't ever going to happen. 1
RIPPA Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Steve Sarkisian has agreed to a new deal with Texas It is a 7 year deal so it is basically adding a year to his current contract Exact amount wasn't reported but he is now "one of the highest paid coaches in college football"
Brian Fowler Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I know the AP poll means a lot less these days, but I'm kinda looking really side eyed at a voting block that put Georgia two spots behind Texas.
Brian Fowler Posted January 22 Posted January 22 And to put a bit of a bow on this season, in the now 35 seasons since the AP poll fully expanded to 25 teams, Ohio State is the 10th team to start #2 and finish #1. A further seven have started #3 and won the title. Meanwhile, only four teams have both started and ended #1.
Pete Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Truly fascinating that this happens mere hours after a certain US geopolitical happening occurs. 1

Brian Fowler Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Holy shit Penn State poached Jim Knowles I don't trust James Franklin, but they *really* look like they are having a "we're gonna go win the national title" off-season.
Brian Fowler Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Also they are paying him a reported $3.1 million per year
Brian Fowler Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) For the first time since 2017, when the Colley Matrix broke ranks and awarded Central Florida the top spot, this year didn't produce an unanimous national champion in the official NCAA list of "major selectors" with two of them naming Oregon the champion. Amazingly, the Colley Matrix isn't one of them, and this is the first time since 2010 somebody other than them has broken the consensus. Somehow, I don't think Oregon will be claiming this one. Tabe Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Matt Rhule says Nebraska may cancel their spring game because other schools watch it and try to poach players from Nebraska. The game routinely draws 60,000 fans and canceling it will be a very unpopular move.
RIPPA Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 I will mention it here - Chip Kelly took the Raiders OC gig
EVA Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Ryan Grubb’s odyssey to becoming Alabama’s OC has finally come to an end. Saban tried to hire him in 2023, but he elected to stay at Washington. DeBoer tried to bring him with him from Washington in 2024, but he chose to take an NFL job with the Seahawks instead. You can’t win against fate.
