Dolfan in NYC Posted October 28 Posted October 28 #3 Penn State vs. #4 The Ohio State this week. As usual, everyone outside of those two states will be cheering for a meteor strike.
Tabe Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Michigan 7th year quarterback Jack Tuttle announced he's retiring from football. His arm injury has not fully recovered and he suffered a 5th concussion and he's retiring for health reasons. Tuttle plans to pursue coaching. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42061748/michigan-qb-jack-tuttle-retires-football-cites-health
RIPPA Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Camdin Portis, Clinton's son, has committed to go to Miami It should be noted that Camdin is a DB
Brian Fowler Posted October 30 Posted October 30 It might be nothing, but there's a lot of smoke about Michigan pushing hard to try and flip Bryce Underwood from LSU. He's a local kid (I, in fact, briefly lived in Belleville round about 2006ish, and it's just outside Ann Arbor) and the rumors involve a major, major NIL offer.

Dave Portnoy did pledge to spend up to $3 Million to get the right Quarterback for Michigan going forward.
EVA Posted October 30 Posted October 30 It’s tricky, because they absolutely should be spending big on a prospect like Underwood…but maybe he’s ready to play Day 1, and maybe (more likely) he’s not, so you’ve also got to go get at least a 1-year bridge QB out of the portal, too. I’m not sure how the math in that balances out. Michigan has enough people with money to do both, but can you get them to ante up is the eternal question.
Brian Fowler Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Allegedly Portnoy is not financially part of the offer to Underwood, but is involved in wooing him. I think he pledged specifically for the top transfer quarterback when he made that claim.
Brian Fowler Posted October 31 Posted October 31 It has been pretty disconcerting that right in the middle of Michigan's best three year run in well over a century, three consecutive years there was a five star QB in their relative backyard and if they don't flip Underwood all three will have gone out of state.

The dirty little secret is that Jim Harbaugh is not a good developer of quarterbacks. Andrew Luck and JJ Mccarthy are his two successes. Luck didn't need much from Harbaugh and you could argue Mccarthy actually underperformed despite the team's amazing success.

He probably deserves credit for saving Alex Smith's career and turning Colin Kaepernick into one of the most dangerous weapons in the NFL until he left. 2

That's fair. I was thinking college when I said that but you're right - he did good work with those two.

EVA Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Are we pretending that Penn State can actually win this game today? A yes vote probably says more about what you think about Ohio State right now.
hammerva Posted November 2 Posted November 2 The fact that they are crying so much about having to play a day game instead of at night kind of tells me they aren't ready for this.

A yes vote probably says more about what you think about Ohio State right now. If the Buckeyes o-line plays like it did last week, then I think not only can Penn State win this, they will. But if they play at just an average level up front... Well there's a reason Franklin is 1-9 against Ohio
Brian Fowler Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Random thing for today: barring a colossal upset, Oregon will be the first team to beat Ohio State and Michigan in the same season in 9 years (Michigan State last did it in 2015. In fact, Sparty accomplished the feat the last three times it's happened.) It's only been done 10 times in the previous thirty seasons.
hammerva Posted November 2 Posted November 2 (edited) Well this is the worst possible start for Ohio State By the way it is nice that at least one Houston team is allowed to rep the Oilers https://twitter.com/UHCougarFB/status/1852390023724683317 Edited November 2 by hammerva
hammerva Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Man a yard away from tying the game and couldn't get it. I have no problem with going for it on 4th though By the way I really hope "World Famous" Ohio State is only Gus Johnson thing because they are annoying enough as it is with the "The" part

Brian Fowler Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Michigan State has bloodied Indiana's nose. Time to see if they can handle adversity and fight back.
