odessasteps Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 MLB the show added an Ohtani 50/50 mission today.
Tabe Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 13 hours ago, Brian Fowler said: Missed in the incredible greatness of Ohtani, the Twins lost and that dropped them into a tie with Detroit for the final wild card in what is shaping up to be a close stretch run for the middle teams of the AL Central. Also lost is that Detroit has the best record in the majors over the last 35 games.
Brian Fowler Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 4 hours ago, Tabe said: Also lost is that Detroit has the best record in the majors over the last 35 games. Yeah. If only they had showed up to play in May and June, they'd be fighting for the top seed and not the wildcard. 1
Brian Fowler Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 And in today's "Ohtani is inhuman" news, 52-52. His 14th game this year with both a home run and a steel, breaking the record of Rickey Henderson, leaving him 9-for-10 with four homers, two doubles, three steals, six runs and 12 RBI in his past two games.
supremebve Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 9 hours ago, Gorman said: Guardians are in the playoffs! New manager, they lose Shane Bieber in April, they did it anyway! Jose Ramirez still has an outside chance of being 7th 40/40 player, playing 3rd base which is not exactly a position where they put uber-athletic players. Some players have more steals than him, but he's the best overall baserunner in the game. The amount of times he's scored from second, just because he caught the defense slipping is kind of crazy. He's also outstanding on defense. He's a five tool player at a position that usually only requires two. He'a having a MVP caliber season, but the jolly blue giant in New York exists, so he won't win it. 1
odessasteps Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 What a year to do 40/40, when another guy does 50/50.
RIPPA Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 Basically Abrams was out till 8 am on a day the Nats had a 1 pm game The AAA season is over so this is the club sending a message 1
Cobra Commander Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 If not for the whole casino thing, it would have been easy enough to blame it on “forgetting that the Friday game at Wrigley is a day game”
RIPPA Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Since the Phillies and Dodgers both lost, there officially will be no team with 100 wins
RIPPA Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Yu Darvish has become the first Japanese born player to reach 2000 strikeouts (this is obviously only counting strikeouts in MLB) Darvish and Hideo Nomo are the only two players to have over 3000 strikeouts in their career with at least 1000 coming in MLB and Japan apiece
SirFozzie Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Ohtani with #53 to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, (Betts then walked it off with a homer next batter) You get the feeling that we're just in the latest isekai anime: "I was hit by a truck and sent to another world where I'm a god-tier baseball player" 1
RIPPA Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Charlie Blackmon has announced he will retire at season's end

(Bob Nutting and Jerry Reinsdorf can follow him if you need more episodes)
KriskitaKoloff Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Phillies officially clinched the NL East for the first time in 13 years. I feel like under a real coach, they would have done this like 2 weeks ago and easily broke 100 wins but I'm just hoping they dont give up and start resting, they need to clinch the home field advantage. At least I can go to bed knowing the NL East no longer belongs to the Braves.

Lawful Metal Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Yordan Alvarez has a knee sprain. Which, after how they handled and lied about Kyle Tucker's injury, probably means it's already been amputated.
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Of note, Shohei isn't the only member of the 50/50 club any more! 4

Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Pittsburgh Pirates released Rowdy Tellez today 4 ABs shy of hitting his $200,000 bonus. Guess they figured they paid him enough this year and needed to save a couple of bucks 1
Lawful Metal Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Astros win the division!!! Woohoo! Spoiler
RIPPA Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 The Padres clinched their playoff berth by turning a triple play on the Dodgers in the 9th inning with Ohtani on deck https://x.com/MLB/status/1838806064680096169 1
RIPPA Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Orioles also clinched a playoff berth too 2
NikoBaltimore Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Thank fuck. I know they were snakebit with injuries but it was a bit infuriating watching the game and thinking if not for injuries they could have had that locked up a while ago. Luckily the returning players did well and I'm hoping come Wild Card time they'll be back to form. 1
