hammerva Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 It's a good thing that the Mets was able to win tonight in extra innings because if not I am not sure that umpire would have made it out of there alive after saying that he "overturned" a safe on replay only to realize that he told people he was safe instead of out.
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 The Mets have also now painted a single seat in the bleachers purple and saying it's Grimace's seat. I'm not saying I want them all to drink Grimace Shakes... but I'm not not saying that either.
RIPPA Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Juan Soto hit a HR last night. It represented... - 40th HR of the season - 200th HR of his career - Since it was in Seattle, he has now homered in all 30 parks Soto and Judge become the 3rd set of Yankee teammates to hit 40 HRs in a season (Ruth/Gehrig 3x), (Maris/Mantle) 1
RIPPA Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Also from the same game - Victor Robles doing Victor Robles things
RIPPA Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 The Orioles finally got tired of Craig Kimbrel not getting anyone out and have DFAed him

There was a time where he was good enough to close games even if some were a bit close for comfort. Then when he struggled with that they put him in regular bullpen to mixed results. I was hoping he would have improved as time went on but ultimately this is the right call. I'm also worried about the slump they're in in September of all months. They're sitting in the wild card spot which is not ideal but doable yet they're losing to teams that they shouldn't be losing to (I'm still not over that White Sox loss) They need to pick up momentum in a hurry otherwise they'll have a quick exit in the playoffs. 1

SirFozzie Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 (edited) This just in: Shohei Ohtani has become the charter member of the 50/50 club. His stat line today: 5 H, 2 doubles, a single, 2 SB, 2 HR, 7 RBI. Or about a week's worth of production from the Chicago White Sox. Edit: MAKE THAT SIX FOR FUCKING SIX, 3 HR, 10 RBI. Setting the Dodgers single season HR record. In their postseason clincher. What the actual cinnamon toast FUCK. https://x.com/tipping_pitches/status/1836905397208186896 Marlins Manager deciding not to walk him with first base open: At this point, we just might as well channel Teddy KGB: "He beats me. Straight up. Pay him. Pay that man his money." Edited September 19, 2024 by SirFozzie
Cobra Commander Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Marlins Park about to be named after Ohtani 1
SirFozzie Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 MLB has cancelled Shohei Ohtani's contract, as rules state he can't be a player while owning the Marlins. 4 1
odessasteps Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 So many people flirting with the ban hammer.:) 2
Pete Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Only thing he didn't do today was hit for the cycle. Good GOD.
RIPPA Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 He is the first player to reach 17 total bases in a game without hitting 4 HRs Obviously this is because he is the first one to have a stolen base during said game
Cobra Commander Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Walker Cooper ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walker_Cooper ) getting mentioned as one of the other players with 6 hits and 10 RBIs is gonna ruin my plans to use Walker Cooper in the Grid because he played for 6 NL teams back when there were 8 NL teams (Cooper is also from the same general area, so if Russ Morman, Mort or Walker Cooper, or Rick Sutcliffe fit into a grid)
Brian Fowler Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Missed in the incredible greatness of Ohtani, the Twins lost and that dropped them into a tie with Detroit for the final wild card in what is shaping up to be a close stretch run for the middle teams of the AL Central.
Gorman Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Guardians are in the playoffs! New manager, they lose Shane Bieber in April, they did it anyway! 1
RIPPA Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 Yeah the last few days have finally brought playoff clinching Brewers clinched the NL Central Yankees, Dodgers and Guardians have all clinched playoff berths The Phillies magic number still sits at 1 for a playoff berth
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Obviously, I hate baseball right now for plenty of reasons... But Skip Schumacher never doing an IBB for Ohtani means either knows he's getting fired in a couple of weeks, or hates everyone on his team. Possibly both.
Travis Sheldon Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 C'mon , Skip, walk those bases loaded. Bitch.

Cobra Commander Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Ohtani yesterday really brings home the point about how Ohtani would just completely obliterate a bunch of random dudes if they had non-major league baseball players pitching to him
