The bigger your gift card, the bigger discount you get on tickets. When single game tickets become available, you can use your "gift card" to buy whatever tickets you want and they cost face value minus your discount. And you get an MLB.TV subscription with your package. The smallest purchase is $750. https://marlinsenrollment.com/familia#
RIPPA Posted August 21, 2024 Author Posted August 21, 2024 Seriously why are any teams still pitching to Soto or Judge? The other 7 guys can’t hit

Yes, it would have set a precedent for overturning calls after the fact. In perfect games. After 26 outs. Where the next hitter made an out. I think that's an OK precedent to set and I hope the next commissioner rights the wrong and that both guys are alive to see it. One of the students pointed out it wouldn't open Pandora's Box as this is a unique situation. With how rare perfect games are and having a situation where all involved agree it was an out reversing this is a one-and-done type deal. I don't mind Manfred but I think he needs to be reminded of that. I also think it was cool of the teacher to focus on baseball for a law class. If I was a baseball fan in there that would have made for a really fun project. I hope Armando gets this corrected for his sake. They kind of implied it but aside from this game he wasn't that good of a pitcher so to have his name in the perfect game books would be great for him to have. Plus when looking at the HOFers that have done that having a guy who was not even close to being a HOFer in there proves that on a good day anybody can achieve something special. I do like the good parts of it all that they focused on. This was the main reason the instant replay rule is now in effect and if this was a thing at the time he would have been in the perfect game books already. Plus it was nice to see him and Jim be gracious about it all so good for them. 1
RIPPA Posted August 22, 2024 Author Posted August 22, 2024 It appears that the Mariners are firing Scott Servais

Despite Wilson having zero managerial experience at any level. You know the Mariners are getting desperate when they dip into the nostalgia well.

Also Wilson is not the interim - he is just the manager. No search. Nothing And apparently Servais learned he was getting fired from a news alert on his phone and not the front office

They wrote a book together after it happened. The book is far better than it had any right to be and I recommend it. Galarragga delivered the lineup card the next day to Jim Joyce, who was now the home plate umpire in a really nice, powerful moment: https://youtu.be/-XpFzDGYh8o?si=n6_Bw9jF4Pxk5Uhv Edited August 23, 2024 by Tabe 1
RIPPA Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 Shohei Ohtani hit a walk off grand slam to join the 40/40 club (with the 40th stolen base coming earlier in the game) He becomes the fastest player to reach that total, doing it in only 126 games. The previous mark was Alfonso Soriano who did it in 147 games He is the 6th player all time to accomplish the feat (and first Dodger) His pace is that he will get to 50/50. No player has ever done even 45/45
Tabe Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Seattle's GM is saying he's upset that Scott Servais found out he was fired from the crawl on a news station. Well, he's got nobody to blame but himself. If he doesn't want other people finding out before Servais then he should've told Servais first himself. Really unprofessional. 2
RIPPA Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 Because teams keep pitching to him, Aaron Judge now has 50 HRs

RIPPA Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 The White Sox lost their 100th game Their record is now 31-100 It is the worst record through 131 games in 108 years
Dolfan in NYC Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 its_happening.gif Danny Jansen will become the first player to play for both teams in the same game. Alex Cora said he'd start the resumed game at C, since Reese McGuire got outrighted to the minors. And this also means, he'll be the only person to ever hit and catch in the same at bat.
Contentious C Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 The weirdest thing about it is that it had happened before... ...in the NBA. You'd think it could have happened by now in baseball just with the sheer number of games and most of them being outdoor for its entire history. But no, it happened first in the NBA, in 1976, because Bernard King kicked a chair. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1YUD9vZ7xTY
hammerva Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 Carlos Rodón for the Yankees might have had one of the worst first innings possible. In the same of an inning, he gave up a home run, a walk, a wild pitch, a balk, and had almost every technical issue possible with whatever that communication device they have. But gave up only 2 runs so there is that
Pete Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 A textbook 8-6-2-3-2-4-5-4 double play, just like they drew it up. 3
NikoBaltimore Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 (edited) It's baffling they would try that when the Nats were up 5-2 in the bottom of the 8th. I get it's the Yankees but there was no need for all that mess. Yet it's oddly mesmerizing to watch. The only thing that would have made it worlds better was if they got out on second as well for a triple play. Edited August 29, 2024 by NikoBaltimore
