Lawful Metal Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Mixon out for a bit. I guess that’s why they signed Cam Akers
Kevin Wilson Posted July 23 Posted July 23 The Jets trading for a player that was holding out for his team (Haason Reddick), not giving him a new contract, and then doing Shocked Pikachu face when he holds out for them as well is peak Jets. If you trade for someone that is holding out, I think the unspoken understanding is you intend on extending them. 4

Log Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Burrow and Cody are two of my son's favorite people. He has a haircut scheduled this week. Totally expecting him to ask to dye it blonde.
madl Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I’m sitting in a doctor’s waiting room laughing far too much at this. 3
Kevin Wilson Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I find it interesting that Tua, Love, and Lawrence all couldn't pass the "Burrow" bench mark of $55 mil avg per year. They matched it or got close to it but you know they would have liked the title of "highest paid" to make the new line even though in the grand scheme of things its not a big difference. Hell, Tua's comes out to 53.1 mil so he could pass Goff's 53 mil, can't convince me that was an accident. I still think if he has another good year that Dak next offseason will get over 55 but the fact that "line" held another offseason of extensions surprised me a bit. I know players care more about the signing bonus/guarantees, just that 55 mil apparently was the hard ceiling for avg.
BobbyWhioux Posted July 27 Posted July 27 boy I really hope the 49ers get it done this year before it's time to actually pay Brock.
Infinit Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Wow...that's a while lot of money for a bunch of qbs who haven't won anything lol 1 1
Just Adam Bay Bay Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Considering the only current starting QBs that have won anything in the league are Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes does that mean they’re the only four that should get paid? Yes some of the other salaries are out of control but that straw man argument isn’t a good one. Especially when Wilson is part of it.
BloodyChamp Posted July 29 Posted July 29 So football aaaayyyyy I’ll tell you one thing I like about football right now, is that the superstars are all carrying their weight like superstars. You can talk about who won the SB before the SB before the last SB but you’re not talking about a superstar who is rocking it like a superstar on the field. You can talk about money but to me that’s a whole separate thing. Allen, Purdy, and Mahomes are the guys and the results speak for themselves, complete with the whole weird vortex of nonsense that led to the Chiefs winning after the 2 other teams blew it. It was like only those 3 teams ever had a chance once it was clutch time and them playing each other almost caused some kind of phenomenon lol!
RIPPA Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 It appears that Rashaad Penny is retiring No officially announcement yet but the Panthers have placed him on the reserve/retired list this AM

Still not very impressive lol

Tua didn't go higher because... well, we all saw the picture of him on the ground. That said, that was 2 years ago now and last year when basically EVERY quarterback went down with an injury, he played all 17 games. And for the most part played very well. They paid the going rate, and I'll guess the hedge was on giving him 4 instead of 5 years. Assuming he has success between now and 2028, I'd expect a full renegotiation to happen. Especially if he stays injury free. Jerry, however, would probably rather sell the team than have to pay Dak north of 55m. But unless he gets traded, Dak's probably getting Dallas to pay him 5/275 at least. Probably more. 1
supremebve Posted July 31 Posted July 31 I hate this time of year. The price of a starting quarterback is just a little more than the last quarterback contract. You have two choices, pay the price or find another one... and there is not a single available quarterback on earth better than Dak Prescott, so just give him his money. The longer you wait the more you'll have to pay, because all the smart people are going to save money by extending their quarterbacks contract before the price is at its maximum. Three years from now, he'll be underpaid in comparison to the rest of the league, so it will even out. We're going to have this exact conversation next year about someone else and it's going to be just as dumb. 2

Using the metric of oh they’ve won nothing isn’t the right one when literally only four active starters have done that.
RIPPA Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 The NFL will test using Hawk-Eye technology for use in determining line to gain The tests will happen in select preseason games and is a part of the NFL's new partnership with Sony For those unfamiliar - Hawk-Eye is most commonly used in tennis to determine if balls are in or out 1

And of the four, only one of them has any chance on getting another long term contract. All the rest of them are closer to retirement than a long term commitment.
