Nyla's promo was hilarious, though, and definitely deserves a look - unless I've missed it, I think this is really one of the first times outside of a pre-show where she's gotten to put her sense of humor to use. 2

Nyla is awesome and should just be allowed to be who we saw in that promo, and on TV more often, instead of the "one match mini push to justify an upcoming job" format that's so typical of AEW booking. Hard agree - to go a step further: while I enjoy her in the ring, if there's "no room" on a particular card for her, I wonder how she'd do as a third in the Rampage booth? I could totally imagine she and Schiavone finding some good "Odd Couple"-type chemistry on the headset, or she and Menard finding a nice, lighthearted banter/verbal jousting rhythm. 5
HarryArchieGus Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Commentary is tough, but I’d be for a Nyla experiment. I think she’d also be a great bodyguard. Anybody clamouring for her Inside the ring can check Honor club. Expect very little reaction and seeing clearly a current ceiling. I like what I’ve read from Nyla outside the ring and a switch in personality is a good idea, but seeing what she’s already done on ROH with it, I’m not sold on the need for more tv time. 2
SovietShooter Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Kind of a tangent, but on a Reddit thread the other day about Stephanie Vaquer and CMLL, someone asked about AEW ladies that could go down to CMLL and fit in, like Willow has. At first I was going to say that I think Nyla would really get over in CMLL and could use those kind of reps, but then I remembered that she is trans, and her competing in the ladies division in a straight-laced promotion like CMLL would probably never happen. Conversely, if she were to work AAA, I'd see her being treated like an exotico by the fans, which would probably be a bad thing (homophobic chants and such). She has some limited options unfortunately.

You've all got some really good ideas that make me realize my sorta "all or nothing" opinion of her (either champ or at least always winning/highly pushed gatekeeper) is unrealistic. She does have that team with Shafir, but that never really seemed like a good compliment to what either brings and the fact that neither are tremendous workers. 1
