Dude I just realized this but did I not just read here within the day that supposedly none of the AAA guys were gonna be working AEW anymore?? I know part of the show was from MS but that was still taped a week after FD

If you mean Komander, I have no idea his contract details as I find the whole thing confusing but he's only had two AAA matches in 2024 so I believe he's more a AEW guy than a AAA guy. Yes one of those was on TripleMania and he was on "Team AAA" but.... I assume he has some sort of contract with AEW that Konnan can't stop. I wish cubsfan still posted here but he seems pretty exasperated on social media answering the same questions over and over so I don't think he'd enjoy us bothering him further haha

I still want my fucking Chris Hero/Eddie Kingston "we hate each other even more than Eddie hated Claudio" match in AEW.

Eddie Kingston, this is your life!….and by life I mean a long list of enemies you must battle ending with defeating Danielson for the title.

If we're not going to get the MCMG challenging the Young Bucks after the Bucks proclaim there is no competition left, give me the Kings of Wrestling re-uniting to take the tag belts off the Bucks.

Really loved the Deonna vignette/promo on Rampage, great stuff and character work.  Didn't expect to see Crowbar/Devon Storm going off on Twitter about it, claiming they stole his indy gimmick or some such.

Takeshita/Tommy B was a real fun opener for Collision. Loved the tombstone sequence and thought Tommy looked great again here as he did vs. Dax last time.

Stripping the Bang Bang Gang of the trios titles felt odd/random when they are presumably going to be still wrestling the match to crown the next champions.

Roderick vs Mark Briscoe for Death Before Dishonor is a pretty good somewhat last minute main event for that show.

Really looking forward to both Deonna/Thunder lumberjack and Skye/Shida on next week's Collision in addition to Mercedes/Nyla on Dynamite could be fantastic.

The Outrunners accompanying Dalton Castle to the ring and mixing their own shtick in with the The Boys routine put a big old smile on my face.

Makes me happy in the same (a similar?) way that Luther finding his niche with Timeless Toni did. Nice to know that there is still space for the entertainingly weird and  indie on AEW TV ❤

So presumably young Tommy Dynamite is under some sort of an AEW deal. Because if he isn't, he'll be in NXT this time tomorrow. The size difference between him and Takeshita was huge, and yet Takesoup wrestled an almost 50/50 match with him and allowed Kid Dyno to overpower him a couple of times.

With him and Ogogo on the show last night, and Kip Sabian popping up for a second or two last week (he didn't look himself with that moustache; in my the same way, clean shaven Cash Wheeler looked more like Eli Drake than Cash Wheeler), they do appear to be slightly increasing the Britishness of the TV show. So hopefully they keep that up for the next six wekes.

Takeshita-Billington was very much an old-school territories “heel traveling champion versus local top babyface” match”.

Great promo work from Deonna, Nyla, and Briscoe. Nyla-Mone should be fun.

Loving the continued pairing of the Outrunners with Dalton, who was once again hilarious and weird with his rant on the way to the ring.

Skye and Harley are friends who have worked some indies in the past, so a good matchup here. Remembering that the Outcasts angle was where Skye first got elevated up that card. Her new character and mannerisms are a little too similar to Anna Jay, but looking forward to the Shida match.

Good show overall.

Ishii is a natural for the Conglomeration.

I know the ROH titles are pretty meaningless right now, but please let The Outrunners be the ones to dethrone Taven and Bennett.

COLLISION

Spoiler

Takeshita/Billington may have been 50/50 but it was awesome and suspenseful. Tommy looks just like his uncle (giving me Dom Mysterio vibes) and is absolutely fucking explosive, just like him. The kickout from the Blue Thunder Bomb was actually the most impressive thing in the whole match to me. Something people NEVER do well enough is something like that, with such utter force, and it was great. My only complaint is man... you know what happened to Dynamite. Don't do the diving headbutt. And since this was 50/50 you of course gotta give a nod to Takeshita for his own explosiveness. Calling the knee the "T-Trigger" is some really dumb Don Callis shit though.

God, the shot of Toni covered in blood looking up getting the kiss looks like a still from Re-Animator that made the sidebar of an old Fangoria one time.

Spoiler

FANGORIA #46: Day of the Dead; Lifeforce; Re-Animator » FANGORIA

Tony on the Bang Bang Gang: "Boy they make a lot of noise don't they" haha. I've made a comparison to Juicey Boy looking like they brought Manson out of a cave but now he's reminding me of prime Macho Man. Christian, of course, sneaks in a Flames reference to piss off Calgary and they catch a particularly dejected young fan looking like he agrees, haha.

Having some studly, hyped-up muscle dudes be the new Boys for Dalton is a fine idea. It's nice to see him get a chance at someone they have invested as much in as Roddy Strong (regardless of my personal feelings about the man). I forgot how Dalton is also a bonafide suplex master and he hits a beautiful gutwrench Saito among others, and also does the same knee-to-corner spill that Takeshita did only completely faceplants. Brutal. Meanwhile, Strong does nothing of consequence in comparison, and wins with a single knee in a banana-peel finish. Jeez. That was like Kobashi facing Ratboy Ogawa but losing.

"Bluud, guuts, and chicken shit!", "lookit' dat salt baybay", God Bless Mark Briscoe.

NYYYYYYLAAAAAAA!!! In an ass-stomp! Against a scared looking local rook! She is yet another Big Mean Wimmen though. That doesn't matter to the Native Beast.

Hey, it's a Shane Taylor Promotions match on two days out of three. Congrats! Not much of my taste to this but it was extremely athletic as expected. I'll gather others loved it. For me, I still got the SHANE TAYLOR PUNCH to close it down. Fuck yeah.

Rosa and Deonna still need to be tag partners (which may be how it pans out). Nyla gets Mercedes! Alright. Skye is right here and I don't see an ROH crowd. I don't remember Harley Cameron at all but eight matches ain't much. Saraya is out and as always will not stop flapping her gums. Harley looks to take a ton of the match for it being Skye, who's been a heavy feature for awhile. Crowd is kinda dead for this and the finishing sub... I'm not quite sure what that was. Blue wants Shida... *sigh* Well, it isn't a step down.

As much as I like Orange and have picked up on KOR recently... this is an Undisputed match. I already saw the ending with the ginormous cartoon-red pipe wrench last night so I think I'll pass.

Didn't feel like a "big" episode, but sure was a good use of the midcard.

Skye Blue did a corner boot choke, and the AEW Cameraman didn't do the AEW Cameraman thing. Perhaps Saraya yelling at him all of the time is bearing fruit.

Favorite thing last night by far was the random birds flying around in the back of the barn/shed/whatever during the Briscoe promo. Such a genuine touch to his character. I can totally believe he'd train in some run-down space in Delaware surrounded by random wildlife(on top of all the chickens). His past 2-4 months have been nothing but home runs with him.

So we’ve established the Hardys have a ring at their compound, the Waynes have one in their garage, and the Sussex County Chicken has one in a barn.

These weekend shows were challenging to get thru. The Malakai/Brody v Nese/Davari Rampage opener was fine if needlessly long. The Athletes are treated like fodder one week and a tough challenge the next. I skimmed passed the Roddy squash. I love Roddy, but who could possibly give a shit? At least he could have had some fun with huge dude Bishop. I don't think there's anything I loathe more on AEWTV than seeing heel groups like the Kingdom needlessly gooning around ringside during the matches. The Deonna promo lost me with the corny score. I like Deonna, but I can't stand promos suggesting we oughtta fear somebody with a passable win loss record. This reminded me of those terrible Rush promos from one of his many comebacks. I'm a fan of Purrazzo's mic work, but this felt completely aimless. AR v Komander v Fenix v Angelico. Ugh, what's with the rash of 4 ways!? I stopped watching Honor Club to avoid this horseshit. Here's 4 guys I like in a completely meaningless and forgettable match. The Jericho promo was amongst his worst yet as the Learning Tree. Just rotten. He seems to be struggling to find the right balance. Regardless, Bryan Keith continues to make the most of his minutes. Thunder Rosa v Rachel Ellering - I'll pass. I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't take anymore and skimmed to the end of Top Flight/Andretti v STP. There's a number of mid-card feuds that just won't end. Rosa/Purrazzo wasn't particularly special - why do we need more? STP v Flights are feuding to see who gets to job on Collision next. This was easily the most unenjoyable slog of a Rampage since that classic episode from Jacksonville where Jade Cargill threatened to take the show hostage. Just a complete afterthought of a show.

I thought Mercedes finally sounded comfortable on the mic. She was radiant, tbh. Good for her.

I wish Mark Briscoe had a bigger AEW push, top of the card face there. Mark is so likeable and authentic. The audience liked authenticity.

Sounds like some good content for the next video game developer

Agreed - we always have this conversation about guys like Kingston, too, which got me thinking: while I fully acknowledge the fact that I'm one of those annoying jerks always crying about the # of titles on TV, I have to admit I kinda like the recent use of the ROH title as a "lifetime achievement award" belt.

I swear I've seen some old footage where the Guerreros had a ring in their back yard.

It's been shown in any documentary about Eddie and in the tributes when he died as well.  So yeah they definitely had a ring.

Also, Young Bucks have had versions of it since they were kids and now have one by one of their big houses.  It was shown on a few of the pandemic BTEs.

Excellent Takeshita v Billington opener to a rather rotten Collision. Young Tommy goes 2 for 2. Make this sumbitch All Elite already - I'll assume he is without the graphic. It feels like Konsuke is building to something substantial. He alone has me interested in this year's G1. Don Callis on a mic is never not a delight. I like the FTR/Billington pairing. Nice clean shave for Cash. Ffwd passed the Asses/Juice squash. I did catch the boneheaded Christopher Daniels/Bang Bang Gang/Patriarchy segment. I’m sure Christian was fine, but I could only skim at that point. Not exactly clean storytelling here. Babyface Daniels needs to go back to Honor Club and keep his shoulders on the mat. I’m sure Dalton v Roddy was better than I’m remembering. All I remember is all the needless and annoying lumberjacks. Can we all band together and Will into existence AEW banning tag team partners from ringside. 'Manager’s license required and no one else.' No reason to question Roddy receiving a ROH title match because it’s truly never mattered less. And that’s kind of a shame.  I started getting heavy on the Ffwd button at this point. Nyla squash, no thanks. God forbid she defeat somebody of note leading in to the title shot. STP v Top Flight ugh-gain. And not because it was so great before. I hang my head seeing all these talented young performers being so goddamn meaningless. I couldn’t help but skim this. Purrazzo/Rosa promo, yes, let’s go ahead and have another match. I love Deonna, but I’ve already given all the interest I have to this Rosa feud. Should I go back to Skye v Harley or the Nyla promo? I ffwd passed all on first viewing. I felt a bit saddened by this episode as the O’Reilly/OC v Kingdom Main Event begun. I couldn’t pull my finger off the FFWD. The finish looked good. I liked the monkey wrench, but why is Baretta not supported by the family? I really liked the Bennett/Taven team before they became distracting and annoying lackies for Strong - something I now need to work passed. They’ve partially ruined all of Roddy's TV matches since and for that I just didn’t want to see them. Should I go back to this 'Main Event'? All four are wrestlers I enjoy watching. These weekend shows were treated so carelessly this week. This current booking habit of pairing lower card wrestlers in feuds that don’t end is disconcerting. I saw that the horrible Rampage had a better than usual rating this week. Perhaps Collision will too.? It'll be interesting to see how many ppl come back after slogging thru these awful episodes. Regardless,Billington v Takeshita was a silver lining.
