I'm not sure how that benefits LA, since I'm pretty sure the only reason that Toronto took so long to DFA him was because he's Craig's kid.

on one hand, the Dodgers aren't getting much from their second basemen... on the other hand, Cavan Biggio and Gavin Lux are both left-handed and Cavan is 2 1/2 years older... if I had to guess... "laying the foundations for another trade later" feels likely

Yankees... The good news is Gerrit Cole is making his season debut on Wednesday.

The bad news is Anthony Rizzo is out at least 4-6 weeks with a broken arm.

Anyone who has seen Rizzo play recently knows this is not bad news

The Yankees called up C/1B Ben Rice, who had been tearing it up at AAA. Rice had his first big league hit tonight. Plus, the Yankees still have DJ LeMahieu, who can fill in at first.

Now, I can breathe a sigh of relief. X-rays and CT scans on Aaron Judge's left hand came back negative.

Say his name and he appears

Nick Castellanos with a walkoff hit shortly after the death of Willie Mays was announced

So, is Nick Castellanos more Beetlejuice or the Candyman?

Partial power outage at Nats Park means a game is being played with no TV broadcast and no replay

Welcome to baseball from 1927

I know the O's have gotten really good and this would be a tough series. I was not however prepared for the score I saw today.  This isn't a dig at the Yanks as it could (and has) been the reverse.  It's just...damn.

That's the beauty of baseball. While today's game sucked, tomorrow is a new day. I'd hate having to sit and stew over this loss for a week.

and note that these were places denying service a few years after the Civil Rights Act because that part of the nation didn't just immediately start following the laws that were being passed

The Dodgers have given more recognition to the Asexual community than the LGBT center of LA has ever done.

For the record, I was told by a friend that the person in charge of this account is actually one of the owners of Gym Bar in WeHo.  So, if you're ever in the area, be sure to thank them with a drink.

Thank you A-Rod. (I never thought I'd be typing that). Reggie Jackson gets real about the racism he suffered in Birmingham, including the fact that if it wasn't for his coaches and teammates support and defending him, he would "have been found swinging from an oak tree)

Man, an extra "fuck you" to the people that want to wash that stuff out of our country's history. Kids (and adults, of course) need to hear these kinds of first-hand accounts. They need to see that those sorts of things didn't magically go away with the Civil Rights Act. They need to see that those kinds of things still happen today. That's powerful.
