Mark Briscoe, AEW Stories needs to be watched.

Caught this last night - I really hope they re-purpose some of this for a Buy In or a 'Countdown To...' because this one really deserves to be seen by a wider audience.

As an aside:

Does Briscoe have a match booked for DoN yet? I didn't think of it until this post, but he might be a nice replacement for Kingston/now Darby on the babyface team

When you have HOF quotas to fill, some people may get in, either before they would be expected to or at all.

I love non WWF Koko (especially in Memphis and UWF, but I don't know if I'd say he had a HOF career.

If you wrestled in either the Attitude Era or the Rock 'n' Wrestling era and are on good terms with the company and didn't die early due to drugs then at some point you are going in.

On the merits of on Mr. Henry I don't know if I would put him in a Hall of Fame for all of wrestling but a WWE Hall of Fame. He did have 20 something year career there (same as The Godfather)

I'm a fan of Swerve's reign so far. Like the fighting champ thing he's doing.

I'll second that (I thought his 'My bad, did I take your seat?' line to the Bucks ln was cool as shit).

With that said, I completely understand (and agree with) the criticism that he isn't enough of a focal point on the show.

I think it comes from a good place, though -and historically speaking, it's not a concern thats entirely without merit: Hangman spent a lot of his reign playing second fiddle to Punk, MJF spent much of his reign taking a bit of a backseat to the overall Cole arc, even Joe at times was overshadowed by stuff like Sting's retirement or recent debutees.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy; I thought last night's show was fantastic - I can't even really call it a complaint! I just... Want to see more of the guy who is currently positioned as the 'star of the show' (all due respect to Anna Jay)

Who on the AEW roster would be the best choice to be the company representative in this year's G1?

Off the top of my head I'm thinking a younger talent like Daniel Garcia would grow leaps and bounds with the experience.

Orange Cassidy would be fantastic as an entrant, but Garcia would gain a ton. If only Hobbs' knee didn't explode...

I wish Samoa Joe was still AEW World Champion.

I actually thoroughly agree.

I liked Swerve's reign of terror before he abruptly turned face (That Nick Wayne home invasion angle was friggin' DARK for a wrestling angle and I was THERE for it!), I'm not so fond of Swerve Cold Shane Strickland. As a face, I feel like he eats his opponents up and leaves them worse than they were going in, but he also wrestles way too many 50/50-ish matches against guys way below his station. Him defeating the entire Mogul Embassy by himself was just dreadful, to me.

Samoa Joe was perfect as world champion of a wrestling company, but not a big enough name striving for more mainstream attention (Anytime his name has come up with non-wrestling people in my bubble, I get an incredulous "His name is Samoa Joe?" response back). But he had the dominant scary champ who lets his biggest challenges get just enough shine to look bigger in defeat than they were going in act down pat.

I'd like to see both Orange and Garcia in it. Claudio as well. I also have a perverse desire to see Danhausen against Yano.

I think you hit the nail on the head in the sense that Garcia would stand the most to gain by doing it.

Like some of you above, my knee-jerk answer to this has always been Claudio and/or Danielson even though Danielson has said more or less his time to do a G1 has come and gone.

I'd be in favor of any House of Black member going. Brody King has worked NJPW before, so some fans may remember him over there. Malakai would be interesting for a lot of reasons. I don't know that he really fits in New Japan gimmick-wise, but given how prevalent striking exchanges are in puroresu, I'd be intrigued in seeing the fan response to him smoking people with one kick.

Oh! Also PAC.

The bigger problem with the AEW title is that the belt itself hasn't been the main focus of the show since MJF went out. Joe was on the back-burner for Sting's retirement angle, and now Swerve is taking a back seat to the Elite Takeover angle. At least with the latter, they are making some connections to Swerve and probably merging the two at some point.

I like Swerve as champ, but they need to finish off Christian decisively at DoN and position Swerve as the front-line leader for AEW's honor against the Bucks and friends.

They seem to be planting the seeds for that.

I like that they gave Swerve Christian first in his reign. It's a good opponent to sort of ease him into things. You know you're going to get something good in the ring and out with Christian. And, they had the built-in reasoning with Swerve's attack on Nick Wayne from a while back. That said, I do want to see his next challenger be someone higher up the chain.

Garcia would be a better choice for BOSJ.

Hangman would be a great choice, esp if he's exiled for some reason.

I think Brody King would be best choice- he was over as hell on that BOSJ tour he did with Marty, NJPW likes him, and he can take L's while staying credible.

Are the Gunns low key AEW’s best “homegrown” talents?

100% without question if the criteria being they only started wrestling after AEW formed
