Starks feels like one of those “you tell me you met an asshole in the morning” situations.  Every time he gets a push, it just peters out and nothing comes of it.  Then he’s asked about it and says something snarky.  Maybe the problem is him.

The guy who co-owns and helps run the promotion Starks worked in Austin doesn’t have a bad word to say about him. I just think different people have different perceptions of what his ceiling is.

When I first saw one of his videos, I genuinely thought Peck was wearing a lucha mask. Love him.

There's only one Peck who matters on this board, brother.

Yes, and I will also re-air my complaint that the problem started earlier when AEW broke up the Starks/Hobbs team.

I don't think either guy has ever really recovered from the split.

absolutely could not agree more.

Yes, and I will also re-air my complaint that the problem started earlier when AEW broke up the Starks/Hobbs team. There was so much more the two of them could've done. Splitting the team before they even won the tag championships was a mistake. Also, I don't think there's any real reason why either guy couldn't have pursued singles success while still teaming. I understand the dynamic is a bit different, but it has worked for teams/small factions like The New Day.

Once those two got split, the matches between them were rushed and underwhelming, and the energy around the two wrestlers changed completely. Ricky had some opportunities that Hobbs didn't, and some things like Punk doing Punk things were well out of his control. But ping-ponging between heel/face/tweener also didn't do Ricky any favors, in my opinion. The fans were cheering the Hobbs/Starks act as it was. I have zero booking experience, but I'd love to ask a booker why we so often see a wrestler's mannerisms or characters change when what they're doing already is clearly working. Let it play out!

I don't think either guy has ever really recovered from the split.

Totally with you on that Hobbs/Starks team. I can still see Powerhouse in that fur. I wonder if their chemistry off camera was an issue or stumbling point or the reason they split? Maybe not. As singles both have impressive attributes, but neither has put it all together.

As for the current situation, maybe stating the obvious, I sense management wasn't all that pleased with Ricky calling a sudden audible in that Tag Title tournament match. I'm not judging, I don't know what the severity was. It does seem like the possibility was there to get to the corner and tag his partner in. The loss ended up costing Bill and prevented FTR from getting their win back after being dominatinly defeated by Bill/Starks for the belts previously.

While the outcome wasn't great the execution of the Hobbs/Starks split was awesome with Hobbs just mauling Ricky mid-promo.

Personally I’d love to see Raylan Givens shove him in the trunk of his car after he fails to shut up yet again. Then again there’s not many people I wouldn’t want to see that happen to. So to tie this in to AEW I hope they move to FX so instead of House of The Dragon crossovers we can get a Justified one.

Be interesting to see who they put the TNT Championship on. I'd like Claudio Castagnoli. Even Samoa Joe again.

The best time to put gold on Daniel Garcia was months ago and the second-best time is right now.

I’ll give an out of the box answer and say Kyle O’Reilly. I don’t really have a good reason but he seems like a good choice if they want to continue the open challenge gimmick.

Cope being injured really makes the questionable finish to Black/Cope even more glaring.  I wonder if they could patch him up enough to trot him out long enough to do a Brodie/Cody level squash on Dynamite.  I don't want a tournament and Black is long overdue for a singles title push

Good shout that.

We're gonna get an Edge-in-a-cast mic segment with THANK YOU ADAM chants and if Black does anything it'll be a handshake and mist in the face probably. They'll announce a tournament and Black will probably try to get the belt.

Both of these are great.  Seriously, give the JTTS dudes something to fight for.  BK, Kommander, Andretti, THE BUTCHER, all these guys would be awesome feuding over a belt instead of losing on Dynamite and Collision.

OR

Maybe Tony holds the title IN ABEYANCE until the TV talks shake out.  No use having a TNT champion if you're not on TNT.

The Butcher sounds like an excellent choice even for a brief reign. Brody King would work for a longer reign too. Reward some of the guys that aren’t getting much time. Or hell even have Kyle Fletcher win it and rename it the TV title. Just please do away with the needless ROH one at that point.

Oh well - guess we'll be getting another tournament

Just need to do it like Lucha. Have a battle royal that sets the brackets for a tournament

Just add the word "Casino" to it and you're golden!

Let this be your reminder that we have a Casino Gauntlet, which is different from a Casino Battle Royal, this Wednesday to determine the #1 contender at Forbidden Door.

Yeah, even if it's not Garcia put it on someone lower on the card.  Having upper-card vets holding all of their secondary titles really stinks and, I think, contributes to the moribund feeling of the booking.

Casino Gauntlet rules, though! All the fun of the Casino Battle Royal, without the problem of modern wrestlers having no clue what to do when it’s not their spot during a battle royal. But everybody knows how to roll out of the ring and pretend to be knocked out while they wait for their cue.
