The Natural Posted April 2 Posted April 2 5 hours ago, The Natural said: March was really rough with my Birthday/Mother's Day mourning my much missed Mum and I then lost one of my best friends in Conrad to cancer. The day I found out was really dark. Fuck cancer. My cancer screening surgery was supposed to be today but it was put back a week by the hospital for next Thursday. I've just had a phone call that the cancer screening surgery is cancelled because of the fucking doctors strike. That's twice now they've rearranged, not me. The bitter irony is that if the original date of today kept, I'd have missed the strike by five days. The strike starts next Tuesday and I was to go down Thursday. It's now May when I'll have it done but I'm not holding my breath. I'm sore, I'm tired and royally fucked off. I needed to get that off my chest. Forgot to add its Conrad's funeral this month as well.
Cobra Commander Posted April 9 Posted April 9 although when I saw the Reddit post of this video mentioning an "Indian wedding in Oklahoma", I was thinking Native American Indian and not India Indian but it's India Indian.. so I suspect this story is made for the last 5 minutes of a local news broadcast 1
Curt McGirt Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Think this is the only place I haven't mentioned it, but anyway. I stopped drinking the other day and had a couple seizures from withdrawal. Wound up in the hospital getting my vitals replenished via IV and pills. It was a lot nicer this time than the last insane hospital experience because I had my own room instead of merely a curtain shielding me from dying and mutilated patients. So, really it was a lot of lying around, watching TV and trying to gather my thoughts. The last couple days have been kinda whacked-out because seizures are your brain short-circuiting, so I've been trying to remember stuff that it feels like I forgot. For example, in the hospital they were asking me basic stuff like what year it was and I couldn't answer it correctly. There were some positives though: the hospital cafeteria rocks, and my doctor was cool and hot to boot. Great ass, heh heh. Anyway I just got a shot today of naltrexone to help me with cravings (the needle was like two inches long but I didn't feel a thing cause she shot it into my fat-ass hip) and I'm taking these horse pills of magnesium that you have to literally bite into three parts to get down, among other things. My list of meds is up to 12. I'm only 42. Christ. Oh, and we sold the house! Moving next month on the 16th. Packing the vinyl is gonna be a mountain to climb... 5

Cobra Commander Posted April 11 Posted April 11 22 minutes of Mitch Hedberg standup on Letterman: since I have Mitch All Together and Strategic Grill Locations in the playlist around here, yeah there's lot of the video that is the TV safe versions of those jokes aside from the jokes about the record store and photography that were back to back (and I suspect you can figure out by hearing the photography joke why that one might not have made it onto a release, I found the joke hilarious though) I'm sure the posthumous release was fine (Believe in Gosh) but I've never listened to it and idk, maybe an album recorded 2 months before Mitch died due to multiple drug toxicity will be noticeably behind the first two but yeah I can credit a specific HS friend for telling me about Mitch Hedberg while Mitch was still alive 1

The Natural Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Today was fucking brutal as it was one of my best friend's funeral, Conrad. First time I've gone to a funeral since losing my Mum 12 years ago despite losing others since then. Had to go for our friendship and how much he helped me. Conrad went to my Mum's funeral. For all that, I owed him. In three days time, it's Lisa's 15 year anniversary. Two of my best friends lost to cancer. Fuck cancer. 6

He's been slowly declining for a while but it seems like things have picked up. I hate it, of course, but I also hate seeing him suffer. Simon kicked out at 2.999. This cat who could barely get around the condo a few days ago woke us up twice last night standing on my wife and screaming in her face for food. He still probably doesn't have too long, but he didn't hear no bell. Also if you have a cat struggling to eat or keep on weight Tiki Cat Baby Thrive packets are a game changer. It's a 0.25oz packet with 25kcal so even if they won't eat much they'll still get some calories. 3 2

The Onion has agreed with the court administrator on s licensing agreement but the judge still needs to approve it. And Alex Jones could still appeal. But we did get a shirtless rant from Jones about it, which nobody asked for.

Curt McGirt Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Not that it appears we have need for it, but this makes me surprised that as far as I know, we've never had a stand-up thread anywhere.
Cobra Commander Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I'm shielded from some of the downsides of Spotify because I've always been on a premium Spotify but the standup comedy albums on Spotify can be fun lessons if you're just looking to listen to albums that you don't have. Some stations tried to use a comedy format but it didn't go far, so comedy routines from the 70s are a bit fresher than hit songs from the 70s. Like, i'm in no danger of not hearing "Sweet Home Alabama" because it will be on my radio like once a week at the least Spotify barely pays artists, but they also have an absurdly huge library of content. Do you wanna listen to the live concerts that George Jones showed up for? well, some of them are on Spotify
Contentious C Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) Gotta love helicopter parents. I have an account on Wyzant because, well, I'm desperate enough to consider tutoring people. Not that it's done anything for me: I've had no one contact me except people trying to pump me for free information. This appears commonplace, since if you look at even the busiest accounts, there are only a handful of people - maybe 20 total - who are able to piece together something like full-time work. Until today. Some asshole decides that now, in April, is a good time to make plans for their kid for August. I'm responsible enough to avoid doing that, because I don't want to make those kinds of plans now and then leave someone in the lurch later if I find something between now and then. And besides, lady, I'm trying to get a REAL job, because, hey, guess what, your hundred or so dollars a week ISN'T GOING TO PAY RENT. And I explained this as calmly and rationally as I could, but this last-word freak had to say I was the one who needed to mature and then told me not to respond. Unfortunately, there's no obvious and easy way of reporting this shithead to their website, so I had to email support to try to see if they can block them. Feeling awfully tempted to post the unedited transcript to the AITA Reddit and see what kind of reaction it gets...except evidently they have a 3000-character limit. People are the fucking worst. tbarrie Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Man, as if international politics weren't fucked up enough already - it seems Norway has extended the antlers on their tallest moose statue, making it taller than our (that is, Canada's) tallest moose statue. Cue the Bugs Bunny quote. 2
Tabe Posted April 27 Posted April 27 This weekend, I set three more age group North American Rubik's Cube records - 6x6 single, 6x6 average, and 7x7 single. Beat the previous 6x6 single record by 31 seconds. It was very satisfying as I've put in quite a bit of work the last couple months in an effort to break these records. In other news, Xuanyi Geng, who was 5 months old when I attended my first competition in 2017, broke the 3x3 average world record with a 3.71 second average this weekend. He clinched it with a 2.80 solve on his last attempt, only the second sub-3 solve ever in competition. 3
Cobra Commander Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Best of luck to the people trying to sell a 65 Thunderbird for 32k. That seems like a sane-enough price (or at least I assume that’s why they have the For Sale signs in the vehicle that they parked at a steakhouse)
The Natural Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) I got an emergency text message last week that due to unforseen circumstances Dr Jundi has cancelled all her May appointments with immediate effect. That got me concerned hoping she's ok then panicking as I see her every month to talk about my mental health issues. So I go down to the doctors to explain the situation that I need to speak to someone who knows me and my procedure results. It's annoying when some receptionists say one thing the some the other so couldn't sort me out. Thankfully Debbie was on the next day, she's so helpful and fit me in with Dr Eldridge who knows me. I hope Dr Jundi is ok. I also hope she's back for June as that's my biggest trigger month, the anniversary of my Mum's passing. If not I'll be scrambling for Dr Eldridge. I met Conrad's widow for a coffee today. Lovely seeing her, just wish it was under better circumstances. Yvonne kindly gave me an Order of Service for Conrad, I wasn't able to get one at his funeral but was wanting one to go with my Mum's, my Grandad who was like a second Dad to me, Lisa/GG and Conrad. Day I found out Conrad passed and his funeral were really dark. Conrad really went to bat for me and came to my Mum's funeral. I owe Conrad a lot. I'm glad I went to his. Fuck cancer. Having issues with my new glasses, the lenses especially my right eye. Feels right tense. Have to try and persevere with the changes. I picked a second pair which are listed on their website as ladies, annoyed me I wasn't told that. I was thinking about going elsewhere and wish I had. Hindsight is a cunt. I'll be going to a different one next time. I'm ready to get my procedure done with. It was originally 2nd April but was cancelled as the consultant wasn't there. It was rearranged for the 8th April and it was cancelled with the doctor's strike. If the original date was kept, I'd have avoided the strike by five days. Two days after my op is a service of life for my next door neighbour's son who I've known all my life but I'm not sure I'll be able to go, cutting it too close and I was in agony last time with polyps removing. I have a bad feeling about this one tbh. Please keep to here. Cheers. Xxx. Edited May 5 by The Natural 3

Cobra Commander Posted May 5 Posted May 5 How long would it take to complete a screen play about a boat that has to remain adrift to isolate a deadly virus? Meanwhile... here's some peak "Weird Letterman" content. Brother Theodore

Reports now are that it's the Andes strain of Hanta, which is already known for human to human transmissions under certain circumstances. So it's not good, but it's less bad than it could be.

I'm guessing this was them repositioning thier ship from Ushuaia to the arctic.
