The Natural Posted October 6 Posted October 6 (edited) Today's #WorldCerebralPalsyDay 2025 designed to bring awareness of cerebral palsy to people and families affected by the condition from brain damage at birth. Cerebral palsy affects everything I do. My body works five times harder doing the same tasks as those without. No wonder I tire quicker. To my family, friends and the National Health Service who've supported me along the way, thank you and I wouldn't be here without you. Love, Paul xxx. Edited October 6 by The Natural 8 1

Yesterday, my better half decided to get some takeout for her lunch break. She goes in and places her order and the cashier asks her name, and she replies "Erin, with an E." And yes, this does seem to be necessary because we've gone to Starbucks and other places where she's just said Erin and gotten the cup with the name Aaron. Her food is ready and low and behold the receipt reads "Earon." Which begs the question, is it supposed to be ear on or E. A. Ron? You fucked up, E-A-Ron! 1 1
Cliff Hanger Posted October 9 Posted October 9 This is my first actual day of shutdown since IRS had a week of emergency funding. The 2013 and 2018-19 ones both came when I had a partner, and family in town. This time I dunno what the fuck to do since I have neither and most of my ppl got the fuck out of Austin during COVID.

My Dad with his age has to get his prostate checked, he had a scare two years ago but thankfully it wasn't the big C. This time however he's on a fast track to get seen sooner needing an MRI and a biopsy operation. That's a worry as he hasn't had to have either before. I was fast tracked last year for scans and a colonoscopy when I tested positive on the FIT test with my cancer scare last year. I'm in a bad depressive spell through the above and other things. I feel a burden and a let down to my family and friends, I dwell on things I can't change, so many regrets and think things in life has passed me by that will now no longer happen. I have thoughts of self-harm and suicide. I know the latter is wrong when I've got family and friends here who I tell to look after themselves yet I have those thoughts in my head. There's a reluctance to speak up when people have got their own lives to be getting on witj not needing my baggage as well. To go alongside the depression is the cerebral palsy making my body work five times harder than those without. I get tired quicker and the daily pain. Cerebral palsy, depression and not wanting to let family, friends and health professionals is a lot to deal with. Very few know about the self harm and suicidal thoughts. Please keep to here. Thank you for your support. Love, Paul xxx. We've been on tenterhooks all week as we'd be told Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. We've rang them today to be told they didn't get the results on Tuesday as they should've so they'll be meeting next Monday to look at the results and ring us Tuesday. Fucking fuming. You can't fuck this up as any delays if it doesn't go our way. Grrr. 1
Cobra Commander Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I was wondering why Bucksnort was pointed out on a map on this story until I read where the explosion took place https://apnews.com/article/tennessee-blast-military-explosive-plant-3c26b71217a2ebe7fb4ca4e21b4edcd7 1
driver Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Since they're watching hours at work like a hawk(and I had the least amount of hours worked for the week) I got tasked with driving from South Bend to Grand Rapids to deliver ten skid boxes of paper and load two 4x4x6(wxlxh) metal boxes to a bank in Sturgis, MI, because another driver had been there earlier in the week and broke a key in the lock of one of the boxes. So I drive down to Sturgis(131-89-66) and get to the customer and spot the boxes I need to swap out, but there's a Ford F-150 blocking them. I go inside and speak to the receptionist about the issue. She fires off some emails and after waiting ten minutes or so I head back outside to unload and notice that the F-150 is moved but there is a Chevy Traverse in the same spot and I run into the guy who moved the Ford and we have a laugh over the situation. I get to my truck, start it up(because using the liftgate can kill the battery), pull off the first box and as the liftgate gets near the ground the box tilts a bit...but no issue with it tipping(thankfully). I swap both boxes out, scan them, and ask the very sweet elderly receptionist to sign my phone. Time in and out was thirty minutes or so, plus I had an hour drive back. I get back, refuel, unload and BS with our lead driver for a few...last night's chili made an audible exit(which he heard(uh oh)). I go and do my business and as I'm sitting there concentrating I notice a torn candy wrapper on the floor and directly to the right of that is what looks like a mouse turd. I finish my mission and swipe up the mystery turd(because I don't want it getting blamed on me). As I'm leaving I ask the lead driver if we have rats/mice, he said no and asked why, I told him about the nugget, he said he'd mopped the floor earlier and that another driver had been back and left before I'd got back...I'll just chalk it up to a weird anomaly.
Curt McGirt Posted October 11 Posted October 11 2 hours ago, driver said: no issue with it tipping(thankfully I watched a whole Facebook reel of forklift disasters last night. First question, you ever experienced/witnessed one of those, and two, people that commit those are liable for the damaged product and cleanup, correct? Like they sign a contract prior to hire?
driver Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Not really any signing of a contract that I've ever known of, but causing a catastrophe with a forklift is pretty much grounds for dismissal. That being said, the truck I had today has a lot of rust. As a matter of fact the drain channel(a little channel between the bumper and the floor of the box) is rusted out and I had to stop the guy who was unloading paper off of the truck to point out the rust and suggest he used a smaller fork lift. My suggestion worked and the facility manager commented on seeing the truck FLEX when the weight of the forklift crossed from the dock plate to the actual bed. Supposedly it can be fixed with a bit of Gorilla Glue(or reinforcing the rusted areas with metal). The truck is twelve years old and has 236k miles. Mechanically it's fine, but it's the rust issues that are most concerning. Our oldest truck is an '04 Ford, it has 219K miles and hasn't had an issue in the eight months I've been there. It's got some rust, but it's biggest issue is that it has a gas engine and it's a little piggy when it comes down to fuel mileage. I like driving it because it's pretty much bullet proof, although it's started to burn a little oil. We'll see.

I drive forklifts and forklift-like vehicles weekly (used to be daily) at work and there has definitely been some close calls over the years but the bigger mishaps that I'm aware of, we're not due to me and I wasn't there to witness them, either. I consider myself lucky, so far. Some young dude almost knocked over one of our machines at work by backing up a forklift into it by accident. There was definitely some red tape due to the situation afterwards. I'm not sure if that person is still employed at the moment, since the identity was never divulged to me (although it probably is common knowledge if one was to ask around, but IDGAF). Edited October 11 by Shartnado Oh, there was that one time...
Shartnado Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I'm not sure if this is my place at all, but in case you haven't heard yet @Brian Fowler is feeling really under the weather and could use your help. There's a link at general health and fitness thread for his gofundme, and since it's not yet anywhere else, you should go there to check it, if you haven't already! 1 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Brian's been active on the Discord. He's back from the hospital and on antibiotics, has a nurse checking in on him twice a day, and is seeing the surgeon again in a week in a half. And he has a giant hole in his arm. 1

Like they sign a contract prior to hire? like @Shartnadoi also work with/around forklifts and have for years. Have seen tons of pallets/boxes/crates tip. Too many. Seen a few truckloads tip (not the truck & trailer itself, but everything loaded on a flatbed all tip/slide over the edge). Had some pallet racking come crashing down, so a couple dozen pallets full of products were all over. Didn't see it happen as it was over a weekend, but did get to help clean up the mess. Saw a forklift drive off a dock once, that was scary. And don't get me started on things that i've seen forklifts drive into, scrape against, puncture, or run over.

Hope the antibiotics work and you’re on the mend soon. I’m at the hospital right now with my wife who has an infection in her elbow. We'll be told next Monday evening after their afternoon meeting. Don't normally ring in the evening but will here. Too fucking right you should as my Dad was on the fast track/priority list like I was when I tested positive on the FIT test but mine was handled well unlike this bullshit. We're putting a complaint in as time is of the essence if it's indeed the big c. It's stressing me and my Sister the fuck out while Dad's trying to put a brave face on it. I've an additional stress as the system has changed for booking doctors appointments for the worse. I see Dr Jundi to talk about my mental health issues and December is one of my biggest trigger months with Mum's birthday and Christmas. FFS. 2
NikoBaltimore Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I've been guilty of using Muscle Milk a few times but not on a regular basis. Thankfully I don't use those anymore and try to stick with protein-packed foods.
Technico Support Posted October 14 Posted October 14 (edited) I drink 3 protein shakes a day, but none of the bad brands/products listed in the article. Of course, the powder I use is Kirkland, and who knows what company is actually making that? Edited October 14 by Technico Support 1
