I'm on my way to Heathrow with my shiny new passport. Not sure when they changed the book itself but it's now got a whole page that's basically credit card plastic. Cool you're both on my side of the pond now. Enjoy!

I say this as a 51-year-old man having been fitted for glasses last year (who knew Shaquille O'Neal made such quality eyewear?), and now starting to use a hearing aid after driving Cindy crazier and crazier. Turns out moderate hearing loss and ADD is a real marital double whammy. The hearing aid (Audien Atom Pro 2) is... good. Not perfect by any means, but for $250 it definitely beats the alternative... I can actually hear the TV again and I don't have to ask people to repeat themselves nearly as much as I had been. It's a work in progress. We're all works in progress. How you finding glasses? I've had them nearly all my life. I'd say since the age of 5 and I'm 39 now. Can't do contacts, too fiddly with the Cerebral Palsy.

I can read fine without them but need them for faraway distances (I AM MISTER MAGOO-ESQUE~!) while Cindy sees long distances fine but needs them to read stuff. We really are fire and ice. 1
driver Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Today I had to put my cat down after being in each other's lives for thirteen years. He was a chonky floof(21 lbs. on a vet visit in June) and lately he wasn't eating. When he did he was puking it back up. There was blood in his poop. I took him to the local 24/7 ER Vet after trying for two hours to get him into the cat carrier. We were there for a few hours and I got a bit emotional(good thing they had Kleenex handy). Usually I'm so stoic I make Michael Shannon look like a crybaby. I didn't show this much emotion when my stepmom and nephew died within four days of each other around this time in 2020. They weighed Hershey and he tipped the scales at 13 lbs. That's not good. I met with the doctor and we discussed some options(biopsies) and I told her upfront I didn't want him to suffer any more. They gave me the option to stay with him as he was sedated and expired, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I did get a final paw print and his carrier back. I named him Hershey(his original name was Davos) because he was an orange and white tabby with a white spot above his nose the shape of a Hershey's Kiss. RIP. 13
Curt McGirt Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Don't know if I ever brought it up on here but we lost our family dog Leo (dachshund) at the beginning of the year. He was just skin and bones at the end, his kidneys were going. It was harder on my mom than me -- he was hers really, he walked right up to her out of an entire litter of dogs that their mother had just had and it was just that way forever more. I want another dog badly but it's gonna take time for her. My eyes have been shot since I was seven. It's been one of the worst hardships of my life having to grow up with. Just an instant target for children, and man I am legally blind behind it. I can't do contacts (small eyes, can't bear to touch them either) so my glasses off is losing my eyes entirely. And my hearing? Wanna know what starting to play guitar at the age of 14, having no idea what to do with it, and just turning the practice amp all the way up sitting directly next to it just hammering the strings does? And all the thousands of shows and rehearsal and zillions of records and cartime volume blasting does to you? The irony is that I have kind of reverse hearing loss beyond the tinnitus, where I can hear distant, small things like crazy but conversations can be hard with any other volume in the way. Bizarre. 2
Nice Guy Eddie Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 I'm going to see my psychiatrist Tuesday. I feel like I need a new anti depressant or anti-anxiety medication. I started working for a new funeral firm last week. On my way to my first visitation for them, my car got rear-ended, as I mentioned here. At work, my anxiety was through the roof. I was sweating profusely. I was constantly patting my head down with my hankies. The next day, I actually was sent home because the other funeral director said I looked sick. Once again, I was sweating profusely and my suit felt like I went swimming in it. It definitely seems like my medication isn't working correctly anymore. I need to get this worked out, so I don't jeopardize my job with this new firm. 1 2

Dreading the community mental health team phone call I've got next week as I've had bad experiences before and how this one came about when I rang First Response. All my doctors were really angry at Simon from there for what he said and I was too. Originally I was going to cancel the CMHT call for those reasons but it came through in time. Best wishes, bud.
The Natural Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Sick of been in pain with my body, it gets to you. Hopefully my pain doctor who I've seen since a kid can come up with something next month. First time I will have seen him face to face since covid as it's been phone appointments. Been waiting ten months for this one, three additional months as my original was cancelled.

Today is the three year anniversary of putting Rayven to sleep who passed from a rare cancer, she was only 6. I love all the pets I've had, I miss all the pets I've had. I love and miss Rayven the most, she was my #1 favourite. 2021 sucked losing five of my family, three to covid and both my dogs, Ralfie and Rayven.
Lawful Metal Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Work stuff. Just finished Oral Arguments in the First Court of Appeals of Texas. It was an engaging in organized crime about some professional burglars. They mostly targeted Targets. We’ll see. It was a little odd because typically judges interrupt you and ask questions but they barely asked anything of me or the State. So it was a bit awkward, just straight up monologuing, but I always viewed these (and closing arguments in trial) like a wrestling promo, so hopefully not too bad. 2
Zimbra Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I always enjoyed watching my dad give opening and closing statements because it was the only time he would really lean into his Texas accent. Juries ate that shit up. 1

I still talk too fast and say OK after literally every sentence 50 trials and two oral arguments in.

The Natural Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Started Spirals. It's a mixture of Tai Chi, Pilates and Yoga. I enjoy it. The Tai Chi part is my favourite apart from two things: Squat thrusts suck and when you do them, you do an arms movement which reminds me of the legendary New Zealand Haka every fucking time. Today I went to the gym for the first time in months. I did the leg press machine, cable and pulley machine biceps/triceps, leg extension machine, chest press and treadmill. Going to try and start going regularly again. 4

Doragon Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 I been reducing my meds by not taking them or breaking one in half and taking it that way. The pills did their work over their the decades but I'm not in need of them anymore. 2

We're both okay, she needed 38 stitches in her arm. Got hit in the back passenger side wheel so the car is out of action for a while. Pretty sure the accident was my fault but the other driver took off before the cops got there with my information but without giving me hers and hasn't contacted me so we'll see what happens with that. Sucks, but could suck worse. 4
