Dolfan in NYC Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 It's Homecoming night as AEW returns to Jacksonville! Here's what's on tap: Enjoy your week, and if you live in the US, your long weekend*. (*Not you South Carolina.) 3
The Natural Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Great looking homecoming show. Most looking forward towards Claudio Castagnoli vs. Hangman Adam Page and Samoa Joe. 2
Casey Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 That graphic is missing the two 8 person tags that seemingly Brodie Lee Jr booked. Willow/Stat/Anna Jay/Rosa versus Saraya/Ruby/Julia/Skye Copeland/OC/Dustin/Preston versus Gates of Agony/Brian Cage/Archer 5
Matt D Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Eddie asked for a match too, but I can see that getting bumped to Rampage. 2

The Natural Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Eddie Kingston doing local media for tonight's AEW Dynamite.

Matt D Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 (edited) Can you imagine if they try to steal this TJPW spot in the 8-woman tag… Edited January 10, 2024 by Matt D 1 1
Zakk_Sabbath Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Kudos to @Dolfan in NYCfor another actual-LOL-funny thread title. You've been on a roll, my friend! 1 hour ago, Sex Machine Gun said: It's Arizona that didn't observe MLK Day for years, not South Carolina. Gotta stick up for my home state when someone makes us sound even worse than we are. It's been probably over a decade since I've been down your way, so things may have changed since, but you guys still had the God-given freedom to smoke in bars and diners, and most everything was a literal 30% cheaper than up here - you will never, ever catch me say a bad word about SC! 11 hours ago, The Natural said: Great looking homecoming show. Besides trios matches I don't *think* they've touched on AEW TV yet, so it's always great to have something fresh (or fresh-FEELING, anyway, in the event I'm just forgetting). Also: perhaps I'm overstating things a bit here, so someone bring me back to Earth if that's the case: I feel like this one is a must, must, MUST-win for Starks, is it not? 1 1

Neither here nor there, but I think there was some light touching between the two during Blood and Guts last year! But this is pretty much one of the top opponents for Hangman! Also, soon, Samoa Joe! 1 1

I knew there would be some multimans I forgot (plus the big takeaway from that one was PAC and his NOSEBOOOONE which I have thought about at least once per day for the last nine months). I was just half-worried they pumped out some crazy six-star-singles match that I spaced on 1

John from Cincinnati Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Claudio vs Hangman is one of those match combos they should have been doing a version of every week on TV when they were doing BCC vs Elite. But better late than never. Now do Nick Jackson vs Yuta. Honestly, no complaints about any of the matches this week, and there’s potential for some fun interactions in the eight person tags. This is good! 4
Casey Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 My interest in Sting’s final match just went way down. 4 6
Cobra Commander Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Things I remember from this week's edition of AEW Dynamite: Fun one with Page and Claudio as Hangman is getting a rocket strapped on him yet again. Some real "dudes we haven't seen on Dynamite lately" energy from the men's 8 man tag. Does Jake just live in Jacksonville and not travel anymore? Swerve wants Joe! Page wants Joe and Swerve! Hook just got a World Title Match for next week! We got 8 women in a match! Also Thunder Rosa teaming with Britt's friends. Sammy and Ricky Starks have a fun one, then Sammy looks like an idiot taking a handshake and getting jumped. Also Chris Jericho shows up. Roddy wins, Cole talks, Handsome Wardlow stands in the background Swinging Darby directly into the ropes is crazy for even Darby. Then Ric Flair wanders into the ring to hit the 2 moves he can safely do on Hobbs. Wouldn't Sting take more of the impact on that Scorpion Death Drop though a table? And Sting's final opponent is gonna be... the Young Bucks. Well, that sabbatical is over. The Bucks now look like villains from a Miami Vice episode. Like they're engineering a coup in Ecuador to keep the cocaine trade going. Anyways, Daly's Plaza is a nice looking community theatre of a venue. It's like holding a wrestling show in a place that hosts Nickelodeon game shows as a primary source of income. 2
For Great Justice Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) Greensboro doesn’t give a shit about no damn Young Bucks. The fuck outta here. Edited January 11, 2024 by For Great Justice 9
Matt D Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Wrestling isn’t math but almost every Hangman match can be judged on when and how he uses the Death Valley Driver. As a big comeback move bridging two sections of heat as per the AEW tv house style? That’s one of the good ones. 2
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Good show but that announcement was something. Sting in his last match against The Young Bucks who are ice fucking cold. Alright Lol. 1
Doragon Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Samoa Joe's new AEW World Championship has side plates that can be changed.
Cobra Commander Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 "Dudes who bandwagon off of things with momentum" would be a solid heel gimmick for the Bucks. Lots of tickets being sold in Greensboro? time for the Bucks to get into that match to get their share of the praise! 1
Curt McGirt Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I went to a Nickelodeon game show! It was Arcade, at Universal Studios in Orlando. I had to lie about my age and failed when asked but the guy let me in anyway. Go figure. Anyway yeah, building looked about like that. They did everything on a big green screen. It was totally uninteresting. Anywho, this was basically just a "crowd-pleaser" episode, meaning it was totally ephemeral and really, rather uninteresting. The 8-man was good enough. Thought Archer was gonna end up turning on his team but no. The pounce was pretty neat and nasty and I dug Orange finally getting his chokeslam. The final lariat was awful but at least they used it. The HOOKSIGNAL showing up in the sky was pretty fucking funny. Guevara is a face again so I had even less interest in a match with him than I usually would. The finish... what the fuck was that? Women's match had all the silly shit you expect: eight-person suplex, everyone knocks each other down in a row. I liked the part where consecutive members kept tagging in to beat on Ruby. UPHOLSTERY MAN returns! Lock up your grandmother's couch, he's gonna expose himself and strip it for parts! Match was fine. Darby wrecked his neck on the bottom rope which they're happy to show in slo-mo. Takeshita is too thick to take a step to the right so Darby also basically takes a 20 foot back bump onto the stage. Sting proves the collective team is certifiable with that table bump. Bucks have '70s porn mustaches now showing that they mean BUSINESS. And that they can grow facial hair like big boys. 3
Curt McGirt Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I forgot to bring up the Claudio/Hangmin match but all I remember is Claudio stumbling up the stairs and thinking that the set design at Daily's Place is rather dangerous.
Cobra Commander Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 the Bucks will intensify their feud with Sting by selling smokes to high school kids 5
