Man, Astro Bot got nominated for everything.

Anyway, I think best ongoing game and best multiplayer are Helldivers 2 and it's not particularly close.

Honestly even with Sony trying to fuck it up, I think it should win. Quality overcame.

PS Portal had a beta out for cloud gaming, requires PS+ Premium but hey, definitely makes the device more enticing for certain folks! I like mine a lot although I haven't used it too much lately as I'm playing a game where clicking the touch pad happens a lot (you have to double tap the Portal screen for this feature and it's not the best alternative).

I completely avoided playing it on the PS5 except for 10 minutes on the day it was released. I've played it on Steam ever since. I'm not sure how Sony mucked with it, but aside from some bugs here and there that are mainly related to connection stability, it's been an awesome experience. The biggest problem with the game is that the majority of the weapons suck and are pointless. I've tried every other gun and always go back to the Scorcher. It's even better now that it has a full auto option.

I was also hoping for even more in the way of Strategems, like more turrets, more call downs, etc. but that's been largely the same since release except for one or two additions.

I've been in a wormhole of Balatro lately. I know it's been said before, but it's amazing how such a simple concept can be so addicting.

I've been playing for months and still have only beaten 3 decks.

I can only get to green stake consistently; I think I've only made it to black with two decks.  I'm not great at deckbuilders, but I enjoy them.

I'm trying Tears of the Kingdom again and enjoying it more this time around.  I think my problem was I didn't explore enough the first time.

I think I've beaten 7 or 8 decks in Balatro, mainly playing on my phone. I think my highest score for one single hand was close to 2 million. I'm trying to distance myself from it because yeah, it's way too addictive.

Best I did in Balatro was just now when I got the 8th ante.  I got some nice multiplier Jokers that I'm hoping will make the difference next time.  It's still not an addicting game for me but when things go well they go pretty damn well.

I don't need this addictive game now that I have my original addiction, tetris, back in my life. Thank goodness for the 3 minute speed round.

I have bought that Elton's Ring game everyone was so excited about last year. I know it has a thread but I'm not looking at that til I have at least installed the game.

I feel like you mistyped it on purpose, but now I want Elton John in a FromSoft game trying to get one of his rings back.

The diamond cock ring Eminem sent him as a gift

I feel like this weird video might do something for, I dunno, 3 people who are fans of Vampire: The Masquerade.  I think I have it somewhere, probably GOG, but I never played it, only listened to the praise I found incredibly weird for a game others described as buggy hell...anyway:

Yes, that's V:tM, being remade in 2024...on Skyrim's engine of all things.

Since I'm on an indie gaming kick because of the Ally X, I went and bought Tunic. I already played some of Tunic before, but didn't get that far. I got the sword, I think I got the shield, but I don't think I got much else and I don't think I discovered nearly as much as I did yesterday. Yesterday was a slow day because I was feeling sick so I think I played about 8 hours of Tunic. Yeah. 8. Hours. Holy shit. The levels of depth to that game are completely insane. I think the closest comparisons I can think of are Fez and, Jesus...Frog Fractions. Going to spoiler some of this...

Spoiler

The fact that you could very well have teleported at THE VERY START OF THE GAME if you knew to hold down the A button for 3 seconds is fucking mindblowing. Or holding down the A button at some of those shrines to take you to the ghost world. Or the non-weapon, non-consumable items you get that start to pile up you could have been using to upgrade your HP, Def, MP, etc. all along at shrines/bonfires is fucking crazy.

I still have no clue what is going on with this game storyline wise, but the concepts in it, mechanics, and everything else are fucking wild. If you took everything Tunic does and put an actual comprehensible storyline to it with the budget close to a AA game and not necessarily a AAA game then it would be one of the best games of all time.

I played through that last year when it was a free game on PS+ and absolutely loved it, so I'm stoked to see somebody else loving it!

Hell, might have to do another playthrough at some point since it came with both PS4 and PS5 copies...

Just finished the Pirates of the Caribbean part of Kingdom Hearts 3, and I have some of the same problems with it that I did in KH2 - It is too real compared to the entire rest of the game. With the updated graphics, KH3 is deep into uncanny valley territory. Especially since they don't change Donald and Goofy's forms at all.

I'm gonna turn on Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the PS2.

For Mega Man 1 to 7 the extra options are, saving after completing Levels, optional easy mode, the option to choose 3 or 5 lifes at the start.  Rapid fire is always on for the NES games in the collection, assigned to another button. The special slide button for the 3 to 6 games.

The special Navi Mode (1 to 6 only, the printed manual is wrong for 7) can be selected, which changes the life bar to be like Mega Man 8s' and shows how much lives are left and how much energy for the copy weapons, hint screens and graphical changes like Beat leading the way and Eddie giving support, the new pauses screens, and maps on the hint screen for 4 to 6. And the Navi Mode has remixed music, 4 to 6 were the ones most of the games music remixed, unlike 1 to 3. 1 to 3 used some of those Mega Man arcade fighting games music.

The slowdowns were reduced for all the NES games and the flickering removed too.

1 to 7 all have the option to go back to the title screen and try another level instead.

The extra lives options does work for Mega Man 8.

The R1 and L1 buttons lets the player switch weapons without having to go the menu. In this collection you can see Mega Man switch his look and powers in real time in the NES games too, so less time wasted on going back to the weapons screen.

There are grammar and bug fixes for the games. Some sound differences and other changes.

1 to 6 are the PS1 ports emulated from Rockman Complete Works.

Analog controls can be used along with the traditonal dpads control for all games.

There are some secrets to unlock. But some of secrets between the PS2, XBOX, GameCube versions differ.

The remixed music isn't in the GameCube collection, and the jump and shoot buttons are reversed.

I played for 100 hours and was able to beat it on every deck and win on the hardest setting. I uninstalled it because it was starting to seep into my dreams but I'm sure I'll reinstall at some point

Goofy question here if anyone is willing to indulge me.  Is the first Spider Man game (the PS5 remastered edition) worth it if I haven't played it yet?  Because of how late in its cycle I bought a PS5, I'm actually playing the Spider Man games backward.  SM2 came with the console and then I played through Miles Morales as it is included in PS Plus.  Is the first game, gameplay wise, a huge step back?  Something like "yeah, you liked GTA5, but that doesn't mean you should necessarily go back and play GTA3 if you never did."

Still worth playing.  The only major thing I can recall that isn't in the first game (besides playing as Miles) is the glider.
