COLETTI Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 My kids were into Skylanders and I played with them, but Swap Force was easily my favorite - I played it on my own and got the platinum 1

They're fun to do once but kind of messy. The game that came closest to really matching the GG2K experience was UFC Undisputed 3 on PS3. 1
JLSigman Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Blizzard is milking nostalgia for all it's worth - there's now a bundle (aka Battle Chest) for remastered version of WarCraft I, II, and III. https://us.shop.battle.net/en-gb/product/warcraft-remastered-battle-chest 1
Raziel Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I'm not gonna lie, the Original WarCraft trilogy with updated gameplay peaks my interest. 1
Zimbra Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Wasn't the Warcraft III remaster a legendary fiasco? Did they ever, like, fix that?

I feel like this year and last years games with the reenactent matches were fun, but I'm a WWE fan and if you're not, then your milage will vary greatly on that.
SirSmUgly Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I enjoy M&L: Brothership, and I'll play Eastern RPGs with Mario in them all day long, but it's rough for Brothership coming out off the back of SMRPG and TTYD, basically the two best Mario RPGs of them all. I like M&L and hope it sells well enough to continue on, but what I really want is for Intelligent Systems to go back to making great Eastern RPGs rather than mediocre-to-bad adventure games. Horizon Lego Adventures is out tomorrow, as I found out from the courtesy call that I got from GameStop, and I once again wish that at least one of these games came out in the summer when I had more time to play instead. I am looking forward to goofy, fun-loving Aloy, though. I think MvC Collection is the last game I have pre-ordered this year. Maybe after I get that and work through a couple of these games, I can get to a couple of the indies that I've been wanting to work through.

twiztor Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 does anybody here use the Mountain Dew / XBox codes? i have a number of them from 20 oz bottles. no xbox here so they do me no good.
JLSigman Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Got a little ways in Birth by Sleep and ran into a wall trying to beat a time trial. Will get back to it. Re:Coded makes me wonder just how many times did they re-litigate the first Kingdom Hearts game? The "Final Chapter" collection is short (mostly Dream Drop Distance), but the 0.2 Fragment with Aqua is absolutely beautiful and sad. I'm enjoying it.
Doragon Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 25 years of the best set of Pokemon games, Gold and Silver. https://www.thegamer.com/pokemon-gold-silver-25-anniversary-merch-collection-plushes-jackets/

Technically they went back to the KH1 stuff 3-ish times? Chain of Memories, 358/2 and Coded. In the sense of the original releases, they're games on other platforms so I could see the thinking in revising stuff but once you get a collection of everything, you really see how they kept going back to the same well. I know some of it is rights related (that's why they never revisited Tarzan).
Death From Above Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Man, I'm not obsessed with TCG Card Shop Simulator but it's close. What a cozy game. Maybe at some point I'll look into modding it and figuring out how to add even more card types. The Smelly Gamer is the video game enemy of the year.
Cliff Hanger Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 How the fuck is Microsoft letting these terrible Call of Duty podcast ads into the wild? Do they not care because addicts will always line up for another fix, or do they somehow not understand that "vaguely Southern guy yelling a plot synopsis and some marketing buzzwords with no production" is a shit way to sell a game?

My favorite version of this is in sports podcasts. Hearing Colin Cowherd read that copy in the most drab afternoon sports talk show host voice is hilarious. 1

Fuckin bizarre to hear in the middle of a Behind the Bastards. 1

Death From Above Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Honestly Nintendo seems allergic to creativity. They basically just recycle variants of the same 4 things and it's a shame because you see a lot of indie games that Nintendo could have made that would feature new ideas, but bigger because of their name power. The state of modern pokemon is a pretty good example. Nintendo's pokemon games have come nowhere close to some of the golden age titles for a while. 1

It's cute, and I don't mind cute (especially in context of Kingdom Hearts), but I'm not in the right brain place for it yet. Starting a run on KH3, with EZ codes and on easy play, because my hands will not put up with this repetitive button clicking anymore. I vaguely remember this first part, and I think I bounced off it on PS4 because I hated the gummi ship (see arthritic hands). Maybe this time will be a bit easier. Â (and for those keeping track at home, yes, I know have saves in all of the games at this point)

J.T. Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 My thoughts: Spoiler Destiny 2, best ongoing game? lol Anti-woke CHUDs won't be happy about a DLC beating out Stellar Blade for a Best Game nomination. Astro Bot and Balatro aren't my cup of tea, but I think either of those would be a good pick for GoTY. Â

I know this board is not exactly a heavy listener base for JRE, but I grew tired of the interrupting ad with Peter Stormare the last few weeks when I would listen to an episode.Â
