What did everybody think?

Mad Bivol gave up the last three rounds. He looked GREAT the entire fight. I had him with the slight edge winning it, but so many close rounds.

116-112 was a crazy scorecard. I need the rematch.

Fell asleep before and woke up to see the post fight. From what I've read online, Bivol should have got the decision in a close fight.

I figured Bivol's economical workrate would cost him. You see this a lot. One guy throwing more, landing the more dangerous shots and pressing forward gets the benefit of the doubt in close rounds. I expected a draw but 7-5 Beterbiev is right as well. Bivol lost a lot of the late rounds.

This seems to be the year of the boxing biopics as the Willie Pep ("The Featherweight") one came out limited release just recently to pretty rave reviews. They even got D'Angelo Barksdale playing Sandy Saddler.

The biopic for Claressa Shields (written by Barry Jenkins) is coming out during Oscar season and is currently 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

So I guess its close enough now to ask, how are people feeling about Paul vs. Tyson? I will give Tyson credit as he appears to be taking this very seriously, as seriously as a 58 year old can (regardless of his strength, at his age I still question the cardio). I know when we talked about it six months ago or so there were different thoughts, I still contend that Paul is a real-enough boxer and in peak condition that he won't lose. I just don't think the speed and power is there for Tyson to get enough strong hits/combos, especially in the early rounds as I think Paul will be defensive to begin to make sure he doesn't. But like everyone else that will be watching (I have Netflix anyway) I'll be rooting for Tyson, however I think a draw is best case scenario for him.

I'm not 100% sure Paul will go for the knockout or be satisfied with a draw against a legend but it should be clear early on if he's trying for the highlight reel KO or if comes across more as a sparring session.

It's crazy to me how many people online actually think Tyson is going to kill him or something. But as hard as he can hit, he can't really move anymore and since it's likely going the distance I expect him to gas out pretty fast. I'm not expecting it to be a great advertisement for boxing.

You know they say the power is the last thing to go... I don't know to much about the Paul brothers other than they where youtubers but I have to respect what he's put into the sport

I think this whole fight is a complete work and if Jake hasn't handled him by the 3rd round  in a semi legit way then Tyson will take a dive

Yeah, I don't think that.

Logan Paul is what he is. He literally did it just for fun. He also happened to do an exhibition with Floyd, who naturally walks around at 145 pounds even at an advanced age while Logan himself is probably 200 pounds. So yeah, don't put much into it.

Jake is okay for someone who basically took up the sport at a late age when most of the best start as essentially children or preteens. He's essentially good enough to be a club fighter, but is making good money to just be slightly above average. It also helps that 168 to cruiserweight is top heavy as hell so there are a plethora of just absolutely mediocre fighters. So even if he chose to fight a random top 60 guy, he probably could beat them or at worst look competitive. However, his level is what it is and I don't see him being better than a top 50 fighter in a talent barren weight class. That's not saying much when he legit believes he can be in there with a Canelo. Even though Canelo isn't a LHW, he would absolutely demolish Jake Paul. He would get him out of there inside of three rounds.

Logan did it for shits and giggles. I don't know why Jake is on this adventure when most likely he would get absolutely embarrassed by a top fighter. I don't know what his end game is. Moreover, if you legit believe in yourself like he seems to be, you're not fighting for a legit light heavyweight or cruiserweight title fighting a 60 year Mike Tyson or some MMA fighter. He would have to fight actual contenders even if most of them are absolutely unknown to even hardcore boxing fans. Tyson Fury's half brother ain't even a real contender. He doesn't seem to want to do that, and it makes absolutely no sense. If he was like Logan and just did it for fun, I would get it. As is, I don't get it at all.

Also, Floyd absolutely killed him with a punch and then held him up to preserve the show, which was funny as hell.

I will say this: Paul's undercards have been suprisingly good in terms of showcasing talent people probably don't know. Like, legit better than some of the shit the "real" promoters like top rank and golden boy and whoever have given us for years. He's a douchebag and a youtube showman for a very specific kind of audience I don't like, but he's actually not a bad fight promoter at all. I think long term that would be a career play he could absolutely make if he wanted to.

I had to give the young guys at work a quick Tyson history lesson, which includes such people as Mitch Blood Green, Kevin Rooney, Desiree Washington and Robin Givens, which regressed into me explaining Head of the Class.

"yeah, that's the same Dan Schneider that did all those things later on"

I'll channel RSPW going into Hogan/Vader at SuperBrawl as I call on Mike Tyson to shoot on Jake Paul

Part of me is thinking of Ali/Inoki where the plan was for it to be a work then ego's got involved so it became a farcical shoot.
