Dolfan in NYC Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 The U busts out these fucking gorgeous alts this week: In other news... the Red River Rivalry continues for the 119th time as this week #12 Zero U visits #3 Texas. 2
RIPPA Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 NC State have decided to not red shirt MJ Morris and instead have named him the starting QB going forward He replaces Brennan Armstrong who... wasn't very good
JLowe Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Last Red River Showdown in the Big 12. Not sure the last time both Texas and 0U were undefeated going into the game, but I'd guess it's been a decade or more.
Cobra Commander Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 looking at the TV schedule.. got some Wednesday games (Jacksonville State vs MTSU on ESPNU and FIU vs NMSU on CBSSN). K-State/Okie State and Nebraska/Illinois on Friday night. Marshall/NC State on the CW this weekend. Bit of a lull on paper among the 2/2:30/3pm CDT games. Probably gonna be one of those days when you'll have to search for good games or for good teams struggling on the road.

Anyway, I'll be cold in the grave before I call it anything but The Red River Shootout. 2

Cobra Commander Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 was Mel actually fired because he didn't sexually harass women enough 1 3
Brian Fowler Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Seriously, that's like sitting there going "I'm not sure we've had enough scandals lately. How can we pump these numbers up?" 2 1

Cobra Commander Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 does Western Kentucky/Louisiana Tech get bumped from ESPNU to ESPN since there'll be no baseball playoffs tomorrow or does ESPN have other backup programming ready
RIPPA Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Morgan State has cancelled their game against Stony Brook this week (which was also supposed to be Homecoming) due to the shooting that occurred on campus earlier this week Quote Baltimore police commissioner Richard Worley said at least two people opened fire Tuesday night during a dispute between two groups at the university's homecoming events, but the victims were likely not the shooters' intended targets. Preliminary evidence indicates the shooters were targeting one person, who wasn't among the victims, Worley said. All five victims -- four men and one woman, all between 18 and 22 -- are expected to survive. Four are Morgan State students. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday night. 3
Brian Fowler Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) Horrific news for Morgan State and I have no good way to transition from that back to talking bawl but here goes anyway. We have four ranked vs ranked games this weekend. The Red River Shootout brings 12 Oklahoma and 3 Texas to the Cotton Bowl. 23 LSU goes to 21 Missouri, 10 Notre Dame continue their brutal stretch at 25 Louisville, and 20 Kentucky goes to 1 Georgia. Maryland is the first team out in both the AP and Coaches poll and they go to 4 Ohio State. Also it feels like 11 Alabama at TAMU might be a big crossroads type game for either or both programs. The Aggies early season blowout loss to Miami doesn't look as bad now that Miami is 4-0 and TAMU are 4-1. Bama has started looking a lot more like Bama since halftime against Ole Miss, and could start climbing back into the playoff picture. Edited October 5, 2023 by Brian Fowler

Brian Fowler Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Well, the Big Ten has it's new conference matchups scheduled for the next four years. There will be no complaints about Michigan's strength of schedule next year. Texas in the non-conference, host USC and Oregon, trips to Ohio and Washington. Assuming most of the schools are at a similar level as this year, that's a brutal reversal from "two good oppenents and one possibly feisty team in the perfect trap game spot" this year. 1
Log Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 My wife casually drops a "Oh, I could've gotten us suite tickets for the ND/Louisville game this weekend." today. Instead, we're visiting her family. Free suite tickets, no less. Dammit.

hammerva Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 (edited) If it wasn't for some really bad interceptions by Taulia, Maryland would be dominating this game against Ohio State And now they are starting to pull away in the 4th. This was the kind of game Maryland needed to get to that next level and they still cant' get there Edited October 7, 2023 by hammerva
Cobra Commander Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I guess I made a good choice by picking the OU radio feed when I decided to switch from OU/Texas on TV to the ALDS, but it's just because I knew there were rural Oklahoma radio stations on RadioGarden that don't switch off their streams during Sooner games
Brian Fowler Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Well I turned on the Shootout just in time for the Texas kick off and that very very easy Oklahoma drive.
hammerva Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Dillon Gabriel with one what felt like one of the easiest game winning drives in the Red River Rivalry. Would have to think it puts him in the Heisman race 1
Cobra Commander Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Mid-South Wrestling, the weekend of October 14-15, 2023: Bill Watts spends the entire Standby match section of the show talking all the notable people he met at the Red River Shootout followed by insisting that if Dylan Gabriel doesn't win the Heisman, then the sportswriters need their heads checked 2

But the 3 straight runs at the goal line with an extra Jumbo package was the killer.
Brian Fowler Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 (edited) BTW, I would like to renew my occasional proposal that some teams in the SEC need new team names. It should not be allowed to have two Bulldogs and three Tigers in one conference. I start with proposing LSU should just make the Bayou Bengals nickname the actual name.
