Most likely for the feel good story - since he is replacing Brian Reynolds who is on paternity leave, he is only gonna be up for 3 days and then they will DFA him (and probably re-sign him) Side note - this is actually the second time Maggi has been called up. The Twins called him up in 2021 but he never played in a game. 2

From the club perspective, that's not bad. 25 homers and .290 for $13m is a comparative bargain anymore. And he won't be 43 when the contract is done.

He ain't quite ready yet. my favorite way for an org to manipulate service time? demoting someone around the all-star break so they can fall under the threshold before they come back (I don't think you can easily do this with starting pitchers anymore since they have to stay in the minors for longer now) also, the Royals coincidentally kept Brady Singer in AAA long enough stretching him out to start again last year that it got his free agency bumped back a year Anyways.. Where's "we're pissed off and frustrated" at on the list of things said by teams when they're going through a 6-20 stretch?

That just came to mind with the Judge injury sliding in Minnesota. Diamondbacks water their dirt a bit when you consider they play in a retractable roof stadium in Arizona and the rest of the field is turf.
