Cobra Commander Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Is Liberty a step up or down from Coastal Carolina?

RIPPA Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 Remember - for its worth - Liberty is joining Conference USA next year and apparently is already considered to be the school with the best resources in said conference 1
JLowe Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Pretty impressive considering Liberty's founding. Presumably the money is no longer coming from elderly people's social security checks.
EVA Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Liberty has crazy amounts of money invested in sports washing their reputation. Whoever takes that job is going to be paid WAY over the standard SBC/CUSA rate for coaches. 1
RIPPA Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 To the surprise of no one - Florida is dismissing Jalen Kitna from the team
Kevin Wilson Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Drew Pyne, Notre Dame's starting QB, announced he is transferring and will not play in the bowl game. (just saw Rippa put this in the Championship Week thread too but ITS IMPORTANT FOR FUTURE WEEKS AS WELL PHIL)
EVA Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 It’ll be interesting to see if Deion’s star power can FINALLY be the the bridge from Colorado to West Coast recruiting.
Tabe Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) Dead serious question: is there any info out there on whether Deion can actually coach? Clearly he can recruit but how about actual coaching? Edited December 3, 2022 by Tabe
hammerva Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 I mean he is a solid coach on the low level of NCAA given his last 2 years. now whether that translate to playing Arizona or UCLA and not Grambling is another issue To me the bigger question is whether Deion really went to Jackson State to elevate HBCU or was it always about him. I mean guess he wasn't SWAC after all
Brian Fowler Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 If he can recruit elite talent, manage personalities, and not botch game and clock management, good assistants can cover most everything else.

Cobra Commander Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 The Colorado job is gonna end up as a stepping stone as long as he keeps his stock afloat. If the Pac12 is unstable and a job closer to the Southeast opens up then watch out.
Kevin Wilson Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I am not surprised Coach Prime took a more prestigious coaching job, that is what all college coaches do. I am surprised he is going to Colorado, I figured he'd stay at Jackson State until a job in the Southeast opened up. Course that could just be me thinking he wanted to stay in the Florida area which may not be a factor to him, and nothing is stopping him from leaving Colorado in a couple years if a school like FSU is more the goal if he continues being successful.
Cobra Commander Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I suspect he figures that he's more likely to get an ACC/SEC job through the Pac12 than through the SWAC.

RIPPA Posted December 4, 2022 Author Posted December 4, 2022 South Florida is hiring Tennessee OC Alex Golesh
RIPPA Posted December 4, 2022 Author Posted December 4, 2022 Coastal Carolina wasted no time and announced that NC State OC Tim Beck will be their next HC
EVA Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Tomorrow the portal officially re-opens, and everybody better hold onto their butts. Lots of smart people around the biz are expecting this to be the busiest portal season ever.

Lots of smart people around the biz are expecting this to be the busiest portal season ever. Bowl season is going to be even more chaotic than usual with which players won't and will be playing, between those opting out to prepare for the NFL, to those opting out to prepare for spring semester at their next home.
EVA Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) Speaking of the portal, here’s Deion saying the quiet part out loud to his new players at Colorado, in the most Deion way possible: Love that he ends by making them give him a call and response on the equivalent of Alec Baldwin’s coffee is for closers speech. RIPPA Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 Unsurprisingly - it won't be a dull moment with Coach Prime Wonder how long it will be before Colorado is hit with a recruiting violation
Kevin Wilson Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 I find such things entertaining but the issue he'll have of course is if you carry yourself that way, bring in your son to QB, etc. and go 1-11 again, there are going to be some really angry people. Personally I am rooting for him just as a neutral party, its fun when people shake things up a bit.
