Fuzzy Dunlop Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) Overall it wasn't a great tournament but the right team won it. Had England won it they'd be the most dull team to win it since Greece trolled the fuck out of 2004 by one nilling their way to winning the whole thing. Scrapped their way through a pretty shite group, barely beat Slovakia, beat the Swiss on penalties, played well for an hour against the Dutch which was the sum total of them playing well in all 7 matches and then got beat by a proper team. I'm not entirely sure how a team with so many good players can play so shit but I guess we can just blame their absolute beige cardigan of a manager. Edited July 14, 2024 by Fuzzy Dunlop
The Natural Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 I think Gareth Southgate will leave but the FA will want him to stay.
odessasteps Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 ABE *whew* I went radio silent and played Starfield for three hours. Now I can safely listen to Football Weekly and Second Captains tonight before vacation starts.
ReiseReise Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I think England dealt quite well with those wingers. It's crazy how good Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are at their age, but Walker and Shaw controlled them for about 95% of the Match, even when England were pushing for the equalizer. Having said that, both Guys were integral to Spain's goals. Just shows you how good they are. The Spaniards will be the team to beat over the next few years, judging by this tournament and their players.
odessasteps Posted July 15, 2024 Author Posted July 15, 2024 My own worry for the Spain team is how their club teams will grind them into the ground in the next two years. Look at what Barcelona has done to done to their talented youngsters.

Gareth Southgate has resigned as England manager. Thought he did a really good job inheriting a right mess, the connection with country and fans again alongside getting us deep in major tournaments just falling short. Thank you, Gareth.
