  1. Announced card so far Elimination Chamber for World Title: John Cena (C) vs. AJ Styles vs. Miz vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dean Ambrose SDL Women's Title Match: Alexa Bliss (C) vs. Naomi Tag Team Turmoil for SDL Tag Titles: American Alpha (C) vs. The Ascension vs. Heath Slater/Rhyno vs. The Vaudevillains vs. Breezango vs. The Usos Natalya vs. Nikki Bella One would assume that the following is going to be added Dolph Ziggler vs. Apollo Crews Becky Lynch vs. Mickie James
  2. Hey man I can't believe that happened! Stupid predictable WWE! Fuck Randy Orton!
  3. This era of TV matches is something that doesn’t get talked about much so I tried to come up with a fun way to revisit some ‘classics’ and find some hidden gems on the Network. To start, I’m watching one match from each year of 2000-2007. To help narrow down the choices, I’m taking one person from the match and trying to find a match of theirs from the following year. I figured the easiest place to start was the Main Event of the first RAW of 2000… WWF RAW #345 - January 3rd, 2000 DX (X-Pac, Road Dogg & Mr. Ass) vs. The Rock - 3-on -1 You’re Fired Match The first RAW of 2000 is in Miami and The Rock is upset with how Foley was fired last week. He wants HHH but instead HHH puts Rock in a handicap match against DX. The Rock will be fired if he loses and if anyone interferes, they’re also fired. During the show, Triple H beats Big Show for the WWF Title. Triple H and Stephanie come out drinking champagne and sit on the stage to watch. He makes the match No Countout and No DQ just to stack the deck even more. The Rock gets off to a hot start before running into a big clothesline from Mr. Ass. The triple teaming begins on the outside. An ‘X-Pac Sucks!’ chants break out and Rock satisfies his people by crotching him against the ringpost. Most of this match plays out the same way as DX triple team Rock, he’ll make a brief comeback and immediately get cut off. Eventually Rock strings together a DDT, samoan drop and spinebuster on the three members of DX to take them all out. The crowd is going crazy as he drops the People’s Elbow! Billy Gunn pulls the referee out to break up the pin. Gunn hits a Jackhammer and they hold Rock down in the corner so X-Pac can hit the Bronco Buster on him. Road Dogg goes out to get a chair and gets attacked by Mick Foley out of the crowd. Foley hits everyone with chairshots, including Triple H, and quickly exits through the crowd. That leaves Mr. Ass to eat a Rock Bottom and get pinned in 9:16. RATING: B-. Perfectly fine ‘feel good’ Attitude-era style match with Rock being over huge in his hometown and Foley making a surprise return. Rock’s comebacks were all fiery. X-Pac was good on his side but the Outlaws added very little to the match. They should have been beating the hell out of The Rock but they were pretty weak. WWF RAW #441 - November 5th, 2001 The Rock vs. Chris Jericho (c) - WCW World Heavyweight Title Rock and Jericho are both on Team WWF heading into Survivor Series but they’ve been having all sorts of issues. Mr. McMahon wants them to beat the hell out of each other tonight and put their differences aside before Survivor Series. Jericho smacks Rock pretty damn hard in the face early on. The crowd seems to be split. They tease their finishers early on and there’s quite a bit of back and forth action. Jericho’s utilizing a lot of chops and Rock even does a couple of his own. Rock acts a bit heelish arguing with the ref and going to Jericho’s eyes. Jericho soon hits a DDT and strings together some offense to build momentum until Rock counters him. Jericho goes to the eyes but Rock comes back and gets Jericho in the Sharpshooter. Jericho fights his way to the ropes and it feels like we’re going into the finish. Rock hits the spinebuster and it’s time for the People’s Elbow. Everyone rises to their feet and … Jericho moves! He surprises Rock with a Rock Bottom of his own for a nearfall. The crowd is fully behind Rocky now and Jericho is starting to lose his cool. He throws Rock to the outside and puts him through the announce table with the Breakdown. Rock comes up bloody while Jericho goes back inside to remove the turnbuckle pad. He smashes Rock’s head on the exposed turnbuckle and punches the cut with some short shots. It wasn’t the best bladejob by Rock so maybe Jericho was trying to open it more? Jericho puts him in the Walls of Jericho which gives us the visual of a bloody Rock fighting his way to the ropes. He finally makes it and Jericho goes for the Walls again but gets cradled for the pin. Rock wins the WCW Title in 15:07. Jericho snaps after the match and nails Rock with the title belt and a couple chairshots. RATING: B+. Not quite a PPV level encounter between these two but they were working hard and it got pretty good as it went along. I certainly wasn’t expecting the blood. The crowd didn’t seem to commit to cheering either guy until Jericho denied them the satisfaction of seeing the People’s Elbow. The Rock sure loves his offense off reversals or irish whips! WWF Smackdown #141 - May 2nd, 2002 Chris Jericho vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan (c) - WWF Undisputed Title No DQ Match Mr. McMahon has stated that if Triple H will be fired if he lays a hand on Jericho in this match. The Undertaker cannot get involved due to an agreement between RAW and Smackdown that talent cannot appear on the opposition’s show. The Pittsburgh crowd is going nuts for Hogan from the start. Hogan overpowers Jericho in the opening moments of the match with Jericho bumping big for him. Jericho kicks the announce table in frustration and sells his foot! Hogan continues to roll until Jericho goes to eyes. In a great spot he grabs Hogan’s bandana and wipes his pits with it! Jericho is fantastic here as he’ll work over Hogan a bit, get cocky, allow Hogan to fire back and then cheat again to regain control. At one point he even pays tribute to Flair by getting slammed off the top and begging off in the corner. Jericho gets dirtier by choking Hogan with his wrist tape. The crowd is super behind Hogan and they tease the Hulk Up but Hogan just fires up normally. He hits a pair of elbow drops but misses a third big one. Jericho gets the bulldog and a lionsault. Does he get the pin? Of course not as Triple H comes out to distract him. Hogan fires back once again but Jericho ducks the big boot and hits a DDT for a great nearfall. Now Hogan finally hulks up and the crowd is going nuts. Big Boot! Legdrop? NO! Jericho counters it into the Walls of Jericho in another great sequence. Hogan fights to the ropes and Jericho flips his lid. He grabs a chair and nails Hogan in the back with it. Now Undertaker’s music hits, he doesn’t come out, but Jericho is distracted anyway and gets rolled up by Hogan at 10:19. RATING: A. This felt like an all-time great performance by Jericho given Hogan’s obvious limitations. He managed to bump and sell for him without looking like a clown. His taunting and cheating made him seem arrogant and not weak. The only negative with the match is the distraction finish. I also felt like Hogan stepped it up as much as he could once the match got going and he could sense how good it was. Share any memories of these matches or watch them on the Network and let me know what you think…
  4. Card currently looks like this WWE Championship: Dean Ambrose (C) (Smackdown) vs. Seth Rollins (Raw) vs. Roman Reigns (Raw) John Cena (Smackdown)/Enzo & Cass (Raw) vs. AJ Styles (Smackdown)/The Club (Raw) Sami Zayn (Raw) vs. Kevin Owens (Raw) IC Title: The Miz (C) (Smackdown) vs. Darren Young (Raw) US Title: Rusev (C) (Raw) vs. Zack Ryder (Smackdown) Becky Lynch (Smackdown) vs. Natalya (Smackdown) New Day (Raw) vs. Bray Wyatt (Smackdown)/Erick Rowan (Smackdown)/Braun Strowman (Raw) Charlotte (Raw)/Dana Brooke (Raw) vs. Sasha Banks (Raw)/Mystery Partner Chris Jericho (Raw) Highlight Reel featuring Randy Orton (Smackdown)
  5. Most of this show sucked. Charlotte looked like a moron losing to Paige clean before a tag match not involving Paige. Cesaro lost again in a short match to Sami - which was at least good. Steph buried Dean a bit, and then we got a corny Shield meeting on the Asylum. At least Dean was made to look strong. AJ vs. Cena remains the best thing on Raw by leaps and bounds. They're pressing all the right buttons to make this click and it does feel like a big match - but they're rushing it now, and it seems like it should be a Summerslam match instead of just an MITB one. Everything going down between them in just two weeks has hurt this, but also given them less time to fuck things up. Jericho doing his wacky ladder pose to close the show amused me. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/06/wwe-raw-6-13-16.html Shane's face seems to sum up Raw. http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/k583nnd552dv5eqbswmz3p6x3rw0k645
  6. WWE just announced that Smackdown is going live on Tuesdays starting July 19th. Two live shows on back to back nights is going to be weird.
  7. BalLs Mahoney dies at age 44 after a fall at his home. His birthday was Monday. FUCK ALL THIS.
  8. This thread will open at 11 PM I am sure the show will still be going but I am also sure I will have fallen asleep God Bless the new automatic locking and unlocking feature

  10. Figured I'd start this since I've been trying to watch stuff from both of these shows. Chime in with what you've seen! Superstars usually goes up pretty quick on the Network while Main Event is a few weeks behind but is easy to find elsewhere... WWE Main Event 12/29 #170 Jack Swagger vs. Stardust Swagger had some nice offense before the commercial break. The big spot when they come back is Swagger missing a corner charge and taking a massive bump over the top rope to the floor. Immediately made me sit up and pay closer attention. Stardust hits a clothesline on the floor and massive superplex. There's some nice payback for Swagger when he hits a clothesline on the floor. Finishing sequence was really well done to the point that the crowd totally bought a Swagger Bomb as the finish and started chanting his name. Swagger won with the Patriot Lock after about 10 minutes + the break. Loved this match. Probably the best Stardust match I've seen in ages and they really managed to hook the crowd in. Would be interested in seeing what other people thought. WWE Superstars 1/1 #351 Jack Swagger and Mark Henry vs. The Ascension This is the debut as a team for Swagger and Henry. Swagger literally worked the entire match until the hot tag. Mark Henry cleaned house for about a minute and won with the World's Strongest Slam in 7 minutes. Main Event 1/6 #171 The Usos vs Social Outcasts (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) Shockingly fun little match here. Usos are over and they did a cool spot where they cut off the Outcasts victory lap with a double dive. Jimmy hit a dab showing that at least one person in WWE is aware of pop culture. They did a distraction roll up finish but it was countered and the Usos won. Superstars 1/8 #352 Jack Swagger vs Tyler Breeze They had a 10 minute match in about 3 minutes. Swagger posted himself and Breeze hit the Unprettier for the pin. It was good but too short. Main Event 1/13 #172 Jack Swagger & Mark Henry vs The Ascension They ran an angle to start the show where Mark Henry was cutting a promo about winning the Royal Rumble but the Ascension came out and attacked him. Swagger made the save to set up the tag match. This was an extended version of their previous encounter where Mark Henry actually got in the match before the finish. Pretty basic stuff by the Ascension getting the heat on Swagger. Henry got the hot tag, slammed some guys, Jack hit the Swagger Bomb and Henry hit the World’s Strongest Slam for the pin. The Ascension are just bland but the formula works because Swagger sold well and Henry kicked some ass. Superstars 1/15 #353 Jack Swagger vs Tyler Breeze Rematch from the previous week and they get more time. Nice little sequence at the start where Breeze does his pose on the ropes and shakes his foot at Swagger in disdain. Swagger beats him up, clotheslines him out and does Breeze's pose on the ropes to mock him. Basic story of the match is Breeze working Swagger's knee. Good near fall with Swagger countering the Unprettier but his knee gives out and Breeze hits his kick for two. Swagger Bomb and the Patriot Lock gets Swagger the win in 7 minutes + the break. Simple, fun, easy to watch match.

  13. So, my new project is to watch all the 'B'-level pay-per-views, starting with the first In Your House. I'm not gonna do long match reviews or anything, but will share my thoughts as I go along, and I invite others to do the same. I had the first In Your House on video when I was a kid, and watched (and loved) the shit out of it. This is the first time I'd watched it in years though, so I was interested to see how it held up. Bret Hart Vs Hakushi: This had always been one of my favourite matches, and I always thought of it as a real classic. Unfortunately, upon rewatching it, it seems I was overrating it a whole lot. It's still a good match, but isn't really anything special. There are a couple of awkward moments between the two in the early going, and Shinzaki seemed to have a bit of a Muta-thing going on, where he could appear to just be going through the motions for stretches, punctuated by bursts of exciting offence. The finishing stretch is nice though. Razor Ramon Vs Jeff Jarrett and The Roadie: This was the debut of Savio Vega. It always made me sad how Aldo Montoya rushes down to help Razor at the end, but is just beaten down and forgotten about. The match itself is a solid, logical handicap match. Jarrett and Roadie were a good act, I thought. Mabel Vs Adam Bomb: KOTR qualifier, and just a squash really, though Bomb shows some decent agility. Owen Hart and Yokozuna Vs The Smoking Gunns: Decent for a short match. Jerry Lawler Vs Bret Hart: I think Bret and Lawler had good chemistry, but never really got the chance to work a great match with each other, mostly because Lawler was never portrayed as being on Hart's level, or a real physical threat to him. For instance, Bret pops right up from a Lawler piledriver here like he's Road Warrior Hawk. Hakushi gets involved, and the ref surely sees him interfere. Bad timing there. This was good for what it was. Diesel Vs Sid: The much-maligned Sid/Diesel feud. This wasn't terrible actually. Just boring, but not really offensive. DQ to set up the lumberjack match at the next ppv (and also the KOTR main event). Diesel cuts a decent promo before the match about his mother passing away (the show was on mother's day), which actually makes him sympathetic for a minute. Match of the night: Bret/Hakushi, which I'd have at about 3 1/4 stars. Show rating: 3 stars. Nothing outright sucked, but there was really nothing memorable about the show at all. To be fair, most shows they put on these days smoke this for in-ring action (though not booking!). Not sure why I loved this so much at the time. Probably because as a kid I didn't get to see all that many ppvs, and this, as a new concept, at least felt fresh at the time.
  14. As I did for WrestleMania, Summerslam (both lost on the old board) and The Royal Rumble (http://deathvalleydriver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2031-every-royal-rumble-match-ranked/#entry179156), I recently watched every Survivor Series match and attempted to rank them all. Having completed this project, I would say that Survivor Series has traditionally been the weakest of the big 4 pay-per-views, with a ton of matches falling into the 'solid' range, but not much breaking out into the 'great' range. I've always been a big advocate of them doing more traditional Survivor Series elimination matches too, but I have to say that more often than not those matches have been disappointing from an in-ring perspective (I still think it's cool seeing different guys interacting with each other though). Anyway, here are my rankings and, as always, I invite comment and criticism. 180. Eric Bischoff Vs Teddy Long (2005) 179. 15. In my short time watching lucha libre (2-3 months of mostly CMLL and a bit of AAA), it appears that luchadores punish their bodies less than wrestlers in the U.S. and Japan. Maybe I'm wrong, and please correct me if so, but considering: * The high amount of trios matches, meaning an individual isn't in the ring as long as a wrestler who works primarily 1-on-1 matches; * An overall looser style of wrestling; * Fewer weapons, chair shots, tables, fire, barbed-wire, etc.; * I read somewhere that the ring surfaces in Mexico aren't as soft as in the U.S., so therefore luchadores don't take as many high-impact bumps on the mat; Now I can't speak for how many days luchadores work -- if it's more or less often than your average U.S./Japan wrestler -- but from what I've seen so far it seems that a luchadore's job isn't as taxing on the body as it is for wrestlers in other parts of the world. Which brings me to the question: Do luchadores have a longer careers, longer life expectancy and a lower rate of drug-related deaths and illnesses than other wrestlers? If I'm right and wrestlers in Mexico don't put their bodies through as much punishment as others, is there a noticeable correlation between that and their future quality of life?
  16. Some may recall me doing this on the old board for WrestleMania and Summerslam. Basically, I watched every Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and then attempted to rank the matches. This was probably harder than those other two to do, because it can be difficult comparing a royal rumble match, designed to go about an hour, to a regular singles or tag match. I tried my best, but I dare say if I did this all over again, the rankings might come out fairly different. For this one I also did mini-reviews for each match, explaining what I did or didn't like about it. I wanted to post two separate lists (one with the reviews and one without, so the people who didn't want to read the reviews didn't have to scroll through them all), but I'm lazy, and that would be too time consuming. As always, I invite criticism and (if you feel you must) ridicule, and I hope some of you share your own top whatever rumble matches too. Here we go then (in 2 parts):
  17. Curious to see the logic behind people's reasoning My choices: Heyman- it's Philly, this should be this year King Kong Bundy- star of the 80s, semi-local Terry Funk- legend, ECW guy DDP- with Scott and Jake in, he should be in. Midnight Express- this might be hard if Cornette and Heyman have beef, but they had a memorable moment in Philly, and we don't have enough tag teams in the HOF Rock N Roll Express- if you have Midnights, you need their rivals Don Muraco- influential in early ECW and a WWE legend
