I always loved NCAA more than Madden. The recruiting stuff, creating talent pipelines, and the gameplay all felt better.

Now I worry because everything I've read about Madden in the last few years hasn't been great.

NCAA historically used the prior year's Madden engine to build, but it also had the chaos of being able to pull off more gimmicks in college. Running various versions of the option was fun. I also just enjoyed playing Dynasty mode. My last NCAA playthrough was creating a coordinator for a smaller school and working my way up the ranks. I forget what school I ended with. My 360 is in storage or I'd probably have played more by now.

I'm just a little worried that NIL will eliminate some of the fun of getting accurate updated rosters through the community. I honestly wish I had something that could run one of those NCAA mods right now that put it under a modern context to include the playoff and updated conference alignments.

All FBS players can opt in to have their likeness used and they will be compensated if they do so

The only reason FIFA has probably taken the #1 slot in hours played for me is because these quit getting made. I still from time to time dust off my 360 and play NCAA 14. I'm sure the first one will be a mess, but it's my most anticipated game in a very long time. It will be the reason I burn some PTO next year.

On the flip side it’s easier to sell tickets on a Saturday night than Wednesday. And sports do big numbers on saturdays. They’re gonna need to not have the show turn into rampage and it looks like they have that mentality already.

It's easier for me to attend Saturday shows for sure. The closest they run near me is 3 hours away, which means usually burning two PTO days at work for Wednesday.

Also, I think we're learning sports fans and wrestling fans have less overlap than we think, but I doubt I'm ever watching a Saturday wrestling show between September and January.

Going by the press release, congrats to Miro, Andrade, and Rosa on the promotion from persona non grata to "headliner."

The subtitle for the new show is, "I don't job that way, brother."

I'm just going to be skeptical of a Saturday show working with traditional tv expectations.  It's definitely going to draw a lot fewer eyeballs, and I expect a lot of discussion around +3 numbers and streaming numbers if there's eventually a day and date on MAX at some point.

I saw some bigger fans of MK like Jeff Gerstman and others speculate that MK would reboot and go back to the beginning because they basically wrapped up the story with the last two games. I doubt I'll ever go back and play either, but I should see if there's a compilation of videos on YouTube that tell the story from those games. I looked into that with Injustice, the game, and the video was like hours long. I was kinda shocked at just how many cutscenes Injustice had.

Injustice and MK both do a really good job of exposing you to a variety of characters to toy with in the story. It's why I prefer those games to something like Street Fighter. I just want to casually pick up something and goof off for a couple of days. I went back to Injustice 2 for a couple of weeks over the holiday and still really enjoyed it.

Dolphins @ Pats on week 2.   On Tom Brady Appreciation night.

I'm just taking solace in that we won't have to go to Foxboro in January.

I'm looking forward to Tua outplaying Mac again. I'm interested in the schedule today, as I'm hoping to finally make the trip down to Miami for a game.

I have a couple of Raider fan buddies, and I talked about us making a boys trip out of it.

Payton Thorne from MSU has landed at Auburn. He played really in 2021, but regressed a fair amount last year. Mostly a major decline in touchdown passes (possibly helped by not having Kenneth Walker III forcing defenses up into the box.)

He's got talent, and even his down year last wasn't a disaster. He could prove interesting on the plains.

The knock on him when the tealeaves had him going to Auburn was last season and defenses no longer had to factor in Kenneth Walker, so his field vision and decision making declined because fewer open 1 on 1s.

Auburn's backfield should be a strength this year, especially with Jarquez Hunter officially elevating up to RB1. I think we can get some production there. Floor for this season should be 7-5/8-4.

I will edit this into my first post too but just wanted to pass on to everyone that the outpouring of support from here (DVDVR) and the wrestling community is greatly appreciated by Dean's family.

And the updates so far are positive

Prayers for everyone! As others have said, I only want to think positive thoughts when it comes to stuff like this.

Weird to have Grayson Waller featured so heavily on NXT for the past half a year/year now then selected off-air as a supplemental pick.

What's weird is he feels like in some ways what they want Austin Theory to be to me. I could be off base there, but he just seems more interesting.

That's why I stopped buying physical copies of games. What's the point? It's basically just a junk access key that allows you to download the game. The next physical version of a game I'm buying is Tears of the Kingdom and that's only because it's for my daughter's birthday and I'm getting the collector's edition. After that, I'll probably buy FF7 Rebirth (Remake Part 2) for the same reason - Christmas present for my daughter, probably the collector's edition.

I usually try to get physical switch carts especially for first party because they do hold their value.

That's one reason I am not jumping on XVI at launch. I am going to wait at least until Christmas and see how its doing, since they did so much to "fix" XV after launch I don't really trust them to have it fully ready.

I wonder how much of that will happen with XVI. It sounds like XV maybe released prematurely to meet a date. Even then, it came out a very functional and fun game. XVI went gold two months before its release date. It just feels like this one is in more of a final state.

I mean there is Octopath Traveler. Also later versions of DQXII had a pixel mode. OT has sold 3 mio copies, FFXV 10 mio. Though I assume FFXV cost infinitely more to develop.

FFXV also had the advantage of being one of the first massive games of that generation.

Haven't done anything besides RttS, but I plan on going into the Negro League stuff because I heard it's an amazing history lesson about the players.  Once I get all the timings down I'll mess with Franchise but I don't go near Diamond Dynasty.

I did the Satchel Paige one. It was excellent. I'll probably play through more of them Thursday and Friday night. I'm out of town all weekend, and I'm making a quick out and back to Pensacola for a concert tonight.

I'm a little annoyed that this one is going to be M for mature and part of that are sexual situations and nudity. My daughter was really wanting to get it to fill the void until FF7-R2 comes out. Since she started expressing she might be queer, she gets really uncomfortable or totally turned off by anything sexual in games, TV, or movies so now she's not really interested in the game. I'm sure she's not the only one. Me personally, I don't know if FF needs sexual situations and nudity in it. I get that this is their stab at Game of Thrones and all, but Game of Thrones and FF don't seem like a decent marriage to me.

I'll probably still get it and maybe she'll give it a spin too if it looks good enough to her.

I kind of agree with this as well. I've always enjoyed the FF games being a serious T or Campy T rating and never felt an M rating was needed. I also am not sure how I feel about the combat going more Devil May Cry for this one with 100% character lock. I get they've been trying to find the right balance on the combat since FFXII, but I thought the happy medium between action and turn based was fine. I actually enjoy the combat in both FFXV and FFVII-R.

So based on the Saudi show being King and Queen of the Ring does anyone see Roman defending there, and if so who will he defend against?

There was a rumored leaked advertisement (I can't remember the reliable nature of the source) that had Cody vs Roman for at least one of the belts in Saudi. That leak was a couple weeks before Mania and maybe hinted to me the real possibility of Roman going over. At this point though, I'd say it doesn't look likely.

  16. I did some of the free trial for EA Sports PGA Tour 2023 over the weekend. It definitely is going to take some grind and time to figure out as I don't love the swing mechanic/meter and getting accuracy has been a challenge. Also, the menus are kind of clunky, and the camera loses the ball and gets choppy in framerate.

Having more licenses content is great, but overall, I still prefer PGA 2k23 right now.

Also, when I have time, I'm really enjoying MLB The Show 23 right now.

Saw someone point it out on Reddit, and I feel like a complete dimwit for not realizing till now that Roman's theme is basically the Succession theme.

I thought that the first time I heard it when he debuted the song at Mania a couple years ago. Just a perfect theme honestly.
