  1. The thing with Jericho and Hook and why I think it's one of the worst matches I've seen in a while..... if a match is bad and the work is bad but it's like 5-10 minutes then whatever.  But they dragged this motherfucker out for 17+ minutes and then had a drizzling shits finish to boot.

On top of that the crowd completely shat on it and Jericho is still overstaying his welcome.  He needs to go away for a while.

So yeah it's just terrible from beginning to end for me and the one bad portion of the event.   Everything else was either solid or kicked ass.

I felt like Swerve showed a champion’s poise at the end, when they whiffed the top rope Swerve Stomp, and he just played it off and went right to something else, rather than try to redo it.

He played it like Joe ducked and I thought that was what happened for a second... I wasn't sure.  Which means if it wasn't supposed to go down that way he did a great job of recovering

  3. Also,  has there ever been a duel like finish like the one we had with Danielson/Ospreay?   I think it's the first time I've ever seen two wrestlers charge at each other like the opening to the X-Men cartoon and try to beat each other to the punch with their best move.... Holy shit

  4. This was a top 5 AEW PPV for me....  There will be talk about how Bryan/Ospreay ended and whether it's good/bad but the match was one of the best matches I've seen at least this decade... and I'll leave it at that for now but it was so fucking great.  My god... lots to discuss just off that match alone.

Love Swerve and Willow getting their moments!!

Okada vs. Pac was awesome too.

Jericho....   I don't know what to say.  He's rivaling X-Pac.

I don't watch WWE weekly TV so I can't comment on the show content, but I do see clips on Twitter and while I think on one hand the 'Kevin Dunn is gone so WWE is better' line of thinking is focused on too much, on the other hand it is indeed so much more watchable without his methods. I love the 'backstage to stage' shots, the one-take shots in the back, all of it. Presentation is so important and while I knew I didn't like Dunn's style, the changes are just so obvious that I do feel they deserve credit. Whoever they hired in his place is making much better decisions, I thought at WM they missed a few spots which will happen in wrestling but overall its night and day.

I believe they said the new head producer is a guy by the name of Lee Fitting, he used to work at ESPN.  Totally agree on how much better the shows look.

Seth Rollins and Will Ospreay infamously had an online Twitter feud about five years ago. Seth Rollins tried to dismiss Ospreay by calling him "Little Guy." Baron Corbin also got involved.

Isn't Ospreay quite a bit BIGGER than Rollins?  I'm not sure on their heights but Rollins looks skinner to me by a wide margin.

There is no coming back from this ever.

    Embarrassing trash.

Isn't that a bit hyperbolic?  It was trash but at the same time 'Dynasty' is 2 weeks away and I expect there to be several great matches.  The online discourse will revert back to the old "yeah they're having great matches but WHAT ELSE!"  Etc...

That caught my attention the second time around. Bitch waited until Perry was in a position where he couldn’t defend himself before he threw the first strike.

Yeah, not that I think Jungle Boy is a badass or anything but Punk certainly DOES think that he is a bad ass and he's out here sucker punching kids in the back.  Not a great look.

  9. Also,  Will Ospreay.  I'm not mad at him going at Triple H in that promo.  Obviously Triple H is perturbed because any key free agent that hits the market, Tony Khan is paying them more money for less dates.  So Hunter took shots at Ospreay over wanting to spend time with his family.  It was a bit of a dick move by Hunter.  Ospreay has a right to respond.

  10. I'm not sure what that accomplished.  I have to correct the person who said "why did Tony fear for his life over that?"  because the story goes that Tony/Punk had a separate incident as well..   not just this one that was shown.

But back to the footage.  I wouldn't say it happened "exactly" the way Punk said.  Punk implied in the interview that Jungle Boy "got too close" so he had to choke him or whatever.  That didn't happen.  Punk waited until Jungle Boy flung his hair back and then attempted to strike him.

So does it show Punk is a liar?  Maybe..  or at least only telling half truths.  But what does it accomplish?  Everyone knows Punk is an asshole and will likely exit WWE at some point after having an altercation.

This didn't help AEW,  Tony or Jungle Boy or anyone..

  11. Bill Simmons knows basketball pretty well I'd say and seems to have a pretty good knowledge of....movies?   Probably nothing on Sean Fennessey, though.   That's all I got.  It hurts to listen to him talk about anything else.

  12. Shoemaker is a case of right place, right time.  When I hear him talk about wrestling I would say to myself "there's a handful of guys on DVDVR who have better voices and are way more knowledgeable than this dude..."  but it is what it is...   I laugh when Simmons brings him on to talk history because he gets so many things wrong or just tries to bullshit his way through.

A certain sheet writer mentioned farther up the page comes to mind. 🙂

Just let Phil interview him.  Not THAT Phil,  our Phil.  Put it on The Ringer.  It'd be awesome.

  14. By the way, I actually agree with Craig and others that he probably shouldn't air this footage or at least not hype it up for Dynamite. That makes it look like a cheap ratings ploy, it makes them look desperate and in my opinion it takes away from some of the good builds they have going on heading into 'Dynasty.'

If you want to correct Punk and get your side out there,  Tony could go do a podcast with a friendlier podcaster than Ariel and I'd have no issue with it.

If it's not actual footage and a complete troll job that's about the worst case scenario and will backfire big time.
