  1. If Kenny has been working with vertigo, that man is a BEAST. I work a desk job and when my vertigo kicks in I can't even do that.
  2. I enjoyed the MJF match, but man, he's not even in the discussion for best wrestler. He had a few spots where there was a bit of... not exactly hesitancy, per se, but where he seemed to have a plan in his head and couldn't quite pull it off. I noticed it with a few guys last night - Luchasaurus too. They have all the physical tools but don't quite have the reps necessary to move from "can do this spot" to "should do this spot." Nice shooting star stage dive, though. Also, that Andrade botch with the flip over the rope... kudos to him for going with it, but it wasn't that different from Jericho's chronic hysteresis during the lionsault.
  3. It could be something as simple as "He went with a provider our plan didn't cover." I once worked at a furniture store, and a man tried to return his mattress because he'd expected his insurance company to pay for it and they wouldn't because it didn't meet their criteria as a therapeutic mattress (TheraPedic =\= therapeutic, folks.)
  4. Mike Knox! I wondered what he was up to. Always tried to sign him in EWR back in the day.
  5. The reason there aren't any real WWE dream matches is that everyone has pretty much wrestled everyone else. There are exceptions, like Brock and Lashley, but who has high expectations for a Brock match these days? Hopes, sure, but expectations? With AEW, there's at least the sense that people who aren't under contract could walk in the door for some unexpected combinations. Personally, my dream is to have UltraMantis Black do colour with Excalibur on pbp for the first televised two-masked-man commentary booth.
  6. That sounds... amazing? But Callosum are an fx company, not a movie studio. EDIT: They're the company that made the Fiend's mask, Hunter's Skeletor get-up, the Bludgeon Bros gear...
  7. That's what I was thinking. Maybe just the part that's really noticeable? Also, Matt Lee really looks like the third Young Buck.
  8. What was up with the audio at the beginning of the women's tag on Elevation? The crowd was clearly chanting something and their audio was completely silent...
  9. If you put Miro and Sammy Guevara in a line-up and asked a non-wrestling fan to pick "possible mainstream appeal", Miro would not get the nod. And if you're arguing that Danielson and Punk aren't bringing over casual/WWE fans - do you really think RUSEV is going to be the one to turn the tide? I won't deny there have been missteps, and I think that in retrospect putting the title on Sammy was a mistake because it's tied up in the ATT/IC story now. But I don't think it was the wrong idea in a vacuum, and I think you are drastically overestimating the relative value of Miro vs. Sammy because the former is the bigger guy. Miro's strong suit is and has been dominating people lower on the pecking order, then convincingly showing ass against smaller/faster peers. It's not like he dropped the title to Fuego or Serpentico.
  10. What's the point of introducing a second singles title if you unify it with the main one two years into its existence? I do agree that having it tied up in the ATT/IC angle is a bad decision. It should be its own focus.
  11. Fuego Dos kind of reminds me of Juan Cena. I wonder if they ever crossed paths.
  12. Well, to give you some insight, on the most recent episode they said Punk vs. Fish was AEW at its worst because they were both 'old'. And they seemed to confuse selling with being blown up. That was when I gave up and came here to complain. ?
  13. You know what's not a good wrestling podcast? Tights and Fights from Maximum Fun. I loooove the Max Fun network, but I've never been able to finish an episode of that show. I know that's not a productive post, but I had to get it off my chest. It's actively frustrating that two of my interests line up and I can't enjoy it.
  14. I almost feel like giving Abaddon a win here through her freakiness might have been a good idea. Like having Baker tap out when Abaddon was biting her hand. I get that a roll-up keeps her strong in defeat, but since it was a non-title match I don't think there would have been any harm.
  15. So what you're saying is we should... look at the adjective.
  16. Charlotte North Carolina? Although that might have an odd interaction with Kenny Omega's introduction.
  17. Has anyone other than Brock tried to go the other way, from wrestling to football?
  18. Outside the NFL, a lot of pro football players still have off-season gigs. Granted it's twenty-odd years ago, but I used to rent NES games from a store run by a CFL linebacker.
  19. My mind boggles at the fact that some people think the third most over guy in Team Taz* should have gone over Orange Cassidy. *Fourth if you include Taz
  20. Let's see. So it seems that of the original Four Horsewomen, we've decided that: -Charlotte is selfish. -Sasha is dangerous. -Becky hasn't been back long but has burned through a lot of good will from before she left. -Bailey's probably only safe from all of this blowback because she's on the shelf. I'm not sure you can blame the performers; they probably have little say in how they're booked. I doubt any of the talent asked to have a total of, what, ten minutes of in-ring time outside of Crown Jewel this week. They all can do better (well, except Eva Marie, whose very presence shows you something's gone horribly wrong.) But they're not being given anything worthwhile. And then I hear people positively comparing the WWE women's division to AEW's, and it boggles me. Maybe they have more out-of-the-ring storylines, but when it comes to actual, you know, wrestling, you get more women's action in a single Youtube show than in the entire Queen of the Ring (or whatever) tournament outside the finals.
  21. I feel like Eddie is on commentary too much. It's starting to grate on me and I didn't think that was possible. He's just too combative and shooty. One nice thing about Jade Cargill getting an in-ring promo segment is it meant we didn't have to watch her wrestle. She's kind of in that Brian Cage zone for me, great look but an in-ring charisma vacuum. Hayter did a more convincing job of getting over being an ass kicker in that opening squash than Cargill has her entire time on the roster. Re: Serpentico, I feel like a lot of the time he's doing fine until he listens to Luther one too many times, and that's when he starts messing things up.
  22. Think about how the wrestling landscape has changed in the last twenty years, that Christian f'n Cage is the "big guy" in a big guy vs little guy scenario. I'm not too bothered by the Homicide save having music/tron, since he already had an out-of-AEW match against Suzuki booked so it was understandable that he might be there to back up his friend. I am bothered, however, by how Eddie Kingston has so many friends. Now THAT'S not believable. ?
  23. I don't think Bearcat is a bad nickname, although usually I think of guys losing, not gaining, nicknames when they go from the indies to the WWE. Could have been Bearclaw. Then have him eating apple fritters all the time backstage.
