Has anyone becomes more "just get your shit in" in the last year than Pentagon. Even with this new gimmick it is still him doing the absolute least
I read this right before he got the hot tag, and I have to disagree. But we should probably stop posting while the show's on before get in trouble.

I hope they have a hard cam for the ppv cause I'm not digging some of the camera work on the Buy-In.

My point was more that the guys I mentioned are all relatively prominent in WWE at the moment. I'm not sure exactly what that will mean, exactly, but I could see it being either a boon for AEW (if somehow WWE fans decide in 2022 to start checking out their back catalogue) or a bane for the named wrestlers (if WWE decides "Why should we push these guys when our competition could benefit?")
I don't think either of those scenarios is all that likely, but it's interesting to think about.

So Tony now has access to sizeable amounts of footage featuring Kevin Owens/Steen, el Generico, Seth Rollins/Tyler Black, AJ Styles...

Yeah, Red Velvet is an obviously attractive person, but I find a lot of her mannerisms over the top and cringeworthy. It's almost like instead of being confident that she's attractive, she's looking at you and saying, "Hey, look at me, I'm attractive." Then you acknowledge, "yeah, she's pretty attractive." Then she looks at you and says, "look at me, I'm attractive." Now you're like, "yeah, I know." Then she looks at you and says, "look at me, I'm attractive." Now, you're just looking at the TV wondering, why the hell she keeps doing that. Once I noticed how often she spams the taunt button, I can't stop seeing it and it's weird as hell.
Yeah, I think that's my biggest complaint, and I wonder if I'd enjoy her work more if she toned it down. I thought Skye Blue looked better than Velvet in that match up, but outside of Cargill I feel that way about most of Velvet's match-ups.
The main event was fun. Archer is growing on me finally. I feel like the Leila-dropkicks-Nightingale-mid-cartwheel spot should have come after the Nightingale-successfully-cartwheels spot, but otherwise I enjoyed that match too.
Also, does anyone else think Johl kind of looks like he could play Low-Ki's big brother?

OC would still be seen as legit, he has singles wins over Cole (which becomes even more impressive if Cole goes over at the PPV, don't think he will), Jericho, Penta plus a title match draw against Cody and a tag win against Miro. Not bad eh? Not saying OC has to turn into Barry Horowitz, just saying that in the instances I highlighted a win would have benefitted Bowens and Hobbs more than it would have harmed OC.
Bowens is a tag guy, though. If we're going to long for the days of "a good team beats two good singles wrestlers" then we also have to accept "a good singles wrestler beats half a good tag team."

So, if a "big AEW name" is supposed to be going to Control Your Narrative, and it's not Brian Cage because his option has been picked up (and, let's be honest, he isn't exactly a "big AEW name")... What if it's Cody? I mean, one of the alleged reasons he left is that he wanted more power to control his narrative, after all. Plus, the C and the Y are right there in his name!

I was talking to my dad (who is in his late 70s) and he started asking me about this new wrestling show, AEW. He sounded interested.

I just wanted to agree with this part wholeheartedly.

I don’t think they have been Boys for a while, I’d take umbrage with that one.
So they're... the Hardly Boyz?

They gotta stop doing Shida and Riho dirty. I understand Riho is injured but those past champs need some fuckin' shine when they're around. Shida's talked about retiring at the end of her deal and she's posting messages on social media about how being Japanese went from a bonus early on as the division relied on joshi puroresu but now it's a detriment.
That Shida/Deeb feud was really, really good. Why was it suddenly dropped unless this leads back to Shida beating Deeb?
Isn't Shida also injured? That's why they ran the angle they did, with Deeb taking out her leg.

Well Ziggler showed that he had a much lower ceiling than AJ so it makes sense to keep dropping him down. It was mind boggling that they kept going back to the same plucky underdog needs to finally win the big one with a guy who was the company ace.
Subtract a concussion and Vince's desperation to make Del Rio happen, and Ziggler's ceiling would have been higher. But those days have come and gone, and that KO promo from a year or two back really put the nail in the coffin.

They're verging into KD territory with some of those edits.

Does anyone have a GIF of Keith Lee catching Quen's somersault plancha from last week?

Hey, if it works, more power to them. I'll be really surprised, because I don't believe for two seconds there will be "no agendas" and I'm not sure how you'll do a tv show with no contracts, but the more alternatives the better.

It would be hard to argue that Cody was a major reason why AEW got off the ground. He had name recognition that guys like Omega and the Bucks lacked outside of the wrestling world.
But they've done a great job of building people up and signing free agents, and as far as recognition goes now he'd at best be in the top five recognizable ex-WWE guys on the roster. Punk has more recognition. Danielson has more recognition. Moxley was on WWE tv more recently, higher up on the card, and is getting name-dropped by non-wrestling outlets because of the time he took to help himself. And as much as some people hate him, Chris Jericho is, was, and always will be a much bigger star than Cody Rhodes. So that covers the twin prongs of "the network" and the mythical casual fan.
The AEW hardcore fans, meanwhile, were souring more on him as time went by. Homegrown talent was getting built up, and more and fresher underutilized talent was being snapped up from WWE - and to his credit, I really believe he did his best to try to "make" them, whether it always clicked or not.
So I honestly don't think any of the parties involved suffer from this. AEW didn't need Cody like it used to. Cody obviously feels he can do better elsewhere. And if the WWE signs him, they'll be in a better place too.

I guess now we know why they're running that storyline.
I hope he gets this sorted out. Assuming he wants to.
-
I could see them go either way on the Hobbs/Martin qualifying match, but the thought of Martin facing Keith Lee in that ladder match is giving me palpitations.
On an unrelated note, who's saying "We've only just begun" in the ads they're running? It sounds eerily like HBK.

How long has WWE.com been spoiling their own tapings? Is it just to make sure people tune in next Friday even though it's taped? (I'm not specifying details in case other people don't want it spoiled.)

I mean, the numbers tell you how it's possible. Meltzer likes a certain style/promotion/atmosphere more than others.

I'd love if someone did a 90s gimmick where they incorporated random songs into their introduction. Like being announced as being from, "outside a broken phone booth with money in his hand" or "just got back from having breakfast at Tiffanys".
He could cut a promo about how he gets knocked down, but he gets up again.

Yes! Have him cut a promo on himself as EVP holding himself as a performer down.
