  1. Gable and Jordan's new Marty Jannetty singlets were bizarre - and that opening 8-man was just a blast. No real story - just tons of fun things happening in one match. Asuka got to kill Ferrari Girl, and that ankle trap German is perfect. Joe vs. Sami was very good, with Joe as a bully and Sami as a babyface in peril - so the story was perfect and the HBK/HHH double pin works far better than the old back suplex one. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/wwe-nxt-2-17-16.html Screens - (cue Rockers theme) http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/ti89b22f1et2blfkkpqxf535qjn8ylhs
  2. Boy was this a cluster of a show. You had some stuff that was good at times and outright insane, like the monsters ball match and then goofy fun. ODARG the Great was amusing in theory...and then they just buried everything about this angle on commentary. Although really, given that he wound up unmasking anyway here on NIGHT ONE OF THE STORYLINE, I can see why. The hour+ long brawl between the Angry Beards and Beer Money was just hilarious. Knockouts match was dreadful, but at least ended with a hilarious finish and even funnier post-match offense from Velvet. God bless her, but she is not quite good at this wrestling thing. Neither is Shera, but he at least has a flying mare on par with a wrestling bear. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/tna-impact-wrestling-2-16-16.html Screens - Match should've ended in 69 seconds http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/lc0dojyrph4a8rwxb094m2w43sdolk76
  3. The peak of the first hour was either Owens having to choose who to hit a cannonball on, or Big E's penguin walk. Brie and Charlotte were each among the worst promos of the year in their little deal. Nothing really good here beyond Jericho and AJ. LOLed @ Ryback sunset flipping himself to save Big Show. Kane, Big Show, and Ryback as a team! Get Cowboys Stadium ready - they're gonna have to add about 20,000 seats! http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/wwe-raw-2-15-16.html Screens WWE has found its replacements for the Bella Twins. http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/1gv4u2lq1ej7o3qcue371h9533uvxnvy
  4. This was a pretty good overall show despite the matches themselves not being so great. Hype Bros match was nothing, while Alexa vs. Cameron was awful and botch-filled, but amusing and kinda hot thanks to Bliss. But damned if the build towards Joe vs. Sami wasn't good, and everything with Bayley vs. Carmella was fantastic. Their entrances were well-done and I loved the spotlight on them before the match began. It was a perfect face vs. face match too - with them doing a lot of holds before going into physicality. I loved Carmella hitting some big dives and really looking strong here. Bayley won not with her big move, but with a cradle reversal ala Bret-Bulldog, and then they set up the future perfectly with Nia and Eva, with Asuka saving. So they've got a great series here with Asuka and Bayley facing some combo of Nia and Eva in singles and then a tag before Bayley vs. Eva, which is likely the best big Takeover match for the division. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/wwe-nxt-2-10-16-bayley-vs-carmella.html Screens - #girlbotch Screen Gallery - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/b1h4jtxyzpoge3pwbjobj4re4kntzc8a
  5. Matt's opening promo was so entertaining. We got a wacky sign, Matt pointing out that his brand means more than the TNA brand, Tyrus and giant gold headphones, Matt's bald spot on the back of his head, and Reby cutting a great promo. The rest of the show wasn't all that special. Rosemary's promo was creepy, but this was the worst stuff with Decay yet. Everything with Eli and Grado felt like a waste - ditto everything involving EY and Bram. Kurt vs. Drew was better than their first match, but WAY too much of a video game with Kurt eating about five finish-level moves before finally being beaten by the second crossface. Oh, and Kurt took him to SUPLEX BOULEVARD this week. EC3's return as an ass-kicker was fantastic, and I liked Spud kind of backing up Matt here since EC3 was such a dick to him. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/tna-impact-wrestling-2-9-16.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/oq3ii1olm0vez732u07cdbhk5u7wnclb
  6. Hard to believe that Bryan's WWE run was only around six years - and really about three on TV without injury. He did a ton in that time. The show itself wasn't much other than Bryan's speech, but it was an amazing speech. Just an all-time classic about him being a grateful person because of wrestling, because of the fans, and because everything he has - good and bad, he has because of pro wrestling. He met his wife due to wrestling and appreciates every fan who cheered for him. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/wwe-raw-2-8-16-danielson-retirement-show.html Screens - SHAKA BRAH! http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/ppz1rn4zw0r6h5eds5l4aqp4iwfpj5c8
  7. "Title Free Match" has been some weird WWE term for a while now - it's bizarre, even by their standards. Fun show overall. Both the Asuka-Garrett and Crews-Balor matches were great. Hype Bros match kinda sucked, but that's the norm for them - Graves was hilarious mocking Mojo on commentary endlessly. Emma vs. Carmella was sloppy, but effective for Carmella while her boys looked strong squashing two jobbers in quick fashion. http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/2dkwg7q7kgryjozblpp4wualibfxmtuo Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/2dkwg7q7kgryjozblpp4wualibfxmtuo
  8. Kana vs. Finlay happened in some form!? I completely forgot about Davey's '98 WCW run - beyond the bloated stomach, his head is gigantic FOR SOME REASON and he looks much older as a result.
  9. Weakest show of the Pop era yet. No real standout matches beyond maybe Trevor Lee vs. Uno, and even that wasn't all that great or entertaining beyond Lee shining and Josh calling Helms the GREATEST CRUISERWEIGHT OF ALL TIME. The two team hardcore war had pseudo-War Games rules out of nowhere, which was odd, but the right team won with Decay looking strong and Rosemary remaining fantastic. Maria cut a great promo on Gail and wore a five-star dress too. She's shining a lot in TNA, while Bennett is still just a dude with bad hair who at least showed a little something tonight. Matt vs. Kurt was a video game match with signatures and finishers active at all times, and some occasional interference. Nothing great about it beyond Tyrus pretending to talk to Pope to interfere and Reby's facial expressions. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/tna-impact-wrestling-2-2-2016.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/uj3phuipsezrts4w5q27kpko05tk9fh3
  10. Show dragged on, and "AJ's story" was something else. AFTER A LIFETIME OF BEING SHORT, THIS SHORT GUY, AND HE'S REALLY SHORT, MANAGED TO DO WELL AT FOOTBALL AND THEN DID STUFF, AND ACHIEVED HIS DREAM OF BEING IN THE ROYAL RUMBLE despite being short. He's also a redneck rookie. Dean and Brock's stuff was quite good, so hopefully we get a one on one match between them - Dean shined as being a far bigger deal than Roman, and better, but seems destined to job at Fastline. Steph's promo on them seemed to nix any thoughts of a heel turn at the PPV, which is good and New Day led a Bullet Club shirt-wearing kid in a dance in one of the show's few highlights. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/02/wwe-raw-2-1-16.html Screens - AJ on SmackDown - welcome home, rookie redneck! http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/ddy06pzjaii2ajczi2l1wvdfxr776hfk
  11. Eh, Rude was worse than Lawler on commentary. Perfect was quite good though.
  12. I kinda dug Emo A-Ry last year. They should've made a Xanga blog for that character about how parents JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW DEEP HE IS.
  13. S2 began with Vamp in a psych ward and then appearing to murder Dr. Dick Johnson. Instead, he just hallucinated and got some pills. Striker saved him and sadly wasn't brutally murdered - maybe that will be the S2 finale. Anyway, this was a fantastic show with some crazy stuff in the Fenix-Cuerno match. I loved the story told with Ivie earning the shot, kind of having hope against Mil, but still being destroyed. Pentagon's role as this show's Austin circa '97 is fantastic so far, and that arm-snapper is over like crazy. http://www.f4wonline.com/mexico/lucha-underground-results-season-2-kicks-intergender-world-title-match-206426 Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/rykct4lkdo1avpub2b7lwkmevsdb30mu
  14. Last week's show wasn't amazing, but still better than this one. American Alpha's win was fun, and the main event was quite good. Nia vs. Liv was just terrible though. The main event could've been better - but I liked the non-finish since it did build up Sami vs. Joe perfectly, and Baron is the weak link of the chain that didn't look weak. It took two top guys to make him tap out. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/nxt-1-27-16.html Screens - Bow Down to the King of HHH Impersonators http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/m6minp53uiuza97h4ypukb6tsfb1154o
  15. Everything about this Iconic Matt Hardy act is so great. Matt is so much better as a cocky asshole than a happy babyface. The Feast or Fired match itself was pretty bad - but Grado standing on Aiden to get his case was at least amusing. Loved this being a show with Sky on it, leading to Josh explaining that Velvet was fired last year. Crazy Steve and Abyss's new chick has a unique look and one of the best themes in the company thanks to Corgon getting a Marilyn Manson song for them. I did chuckle at Josh lamenting the loss of the old Steve - I bet he's been a fan of Crazzy Steve since he only had one Z in his name. But really, that whole Decay act is fantastic and feels like the most major league stable in a while. The Feast or Fired stuff was okay - the match was nothing, but the skits were amusing. Beer Money was hilarious, while Eli is at least going somewhere with the KOTM shot, Beer Money got the tag title match, Drew got the World title match, and Grado got fired. Poor guy - now he can leave a company that can't draw a dime and go main event in front of thousands of paying fans. Both JB and Josh were dicks to him though. At least Pope never liked him - so it was consistent. It's such a shame to see TNA delivering a good show and actually coming off major league in a couple of ways - mainly the ShopTNA ads, the entrance setup, and the licensing of music now. If they can get back up to 500,000 viewers on Pop, I'd start pumping more money into the lighting again and make a pitch to be back on Spike. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/tna-impact-wrestling-1-26-16.html Screens - The Iconic Era has begun Fashion Podcaster Josh Mathews http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/0zj2vf60oll79q7ji9u1hf4005r5nmpo
  16. This was a super-fun show. Rock was all coked up and amazing. In 2016, we've got AJ Styles winning on Raw while Consequences Creed is in a segment with The Rock. Wrestling is fun and weird in 2016. AJ-Jericho was fine, but Jericho was too out of it to do much. The main event wasn't much, but I like the Roman vs. Dean vs. Brock match - it's at least fresh and you can do a few things to protect guys too even with Roman being pre-ordaned to win the thing. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-raw-1-25-15.html Screens - Welcome to Vinny Mac's USED CARS! 17. This was a super-fun show from start to finish. Owens vs. Dean was a great video game hardcore match, while the tag title match exceeded any expectations thanks to some hard work and risk-taking. The US Title match was a cluster at times, but they did a fantastic job setting up false finishes and then delivering another nice win for Kalisto . IF they don't go back to it, then he won two out of three matches and won the feud. Becky vs. Charlotte had one of the best main roster video packages in years and they both got over - as did Sasha with the post-match assault on Charlotte. The Rumble made it very clear that Roman is STILL not the guy. he got booed with everything he did, and no story they told here prevented it. HHH's win was predictable in a good way, and AJ came off like a star while Owens has FOUR FEUDS set up with just this one match. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-royal-rumble-2016.html Screens - The Road to WrestleMania is paved with MANY 20 minute promos http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/z5dsq0jm13l77fnbqhqhjla24unny81x
  18. Perfectly functional show this week. Jordan and Gable got their new American Alpha name, and the Mechanics buried it. Alexa and Emma looked amazing tonight, and had a fun match with Bayley and Carmella. Carmella really isn't over even with this push, while Bayley remains a megastar to the audience. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/nxt-1-20-16.html Screens - ...for the main roster http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/2cfeqpwvv0c840uto8tld2ttauqeloko
  19. Gratuitous buttshot ahoy! The trash can and bright red shoes were what stuck out to me.
  20. It's a shame that Impact is now the old "if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, did it fall", because this was a pretty good show. They had a clear focus on the World title, but still gave every other major act a chance to shine. Beer Money vs. Eli/Godderz was fun, while Kong vs. Gail was their closest-thing-to-good match they've had since Kong came back. I loved Gail turning the Rings of Saturn into a crucifix. Finish with HALF A DOZEN OTHER PEOPLE was a tad too much though. Mike the motherfucking Miracle is doomed. He comes into TNA with shittier gear than he had in ROH and no tan, and other than a Rainmaker punch, did nothing that you wouldn't see a WWE mid-carder do. It was pretty obvious that Maria was the star of the duo in ROH for cosmetic reasons, but even without that as a crutch in TNA, she actually feels like a star, while he feels like a lower mid-card guy they're trying to elevate and just won't make it. Maybe he'll grow into this like EC3 did, but EC3 had far more star power the second that gimmick debuted than Bennett has. The World title match itself was a very good hardcore match that didn't really use too much weaponry - just a few things used smartly. Matt debuted an off the apron Twist, and revived the chair-assisted Twist. That was one of the many things that smartly set up the heel turn since he only used that as a heel. Tyrus's turn on EC3 was set up in October, and like everything else here, finally paid off here when it logically would have after everything got finished up with the post-aired BFG tapngs. Even the opener with Tyrus taking out Jeff played into all this perfectly since it showed that Matt is willing to even take out his own brother to win the World Title. Hopefully, they've re-signed Matt for a while - because I see him succeeding more in TNA than he could in WWE, while Jeff has at least an MITB win and cash-in in him in WWE. Matt cut a great heel promo too, and him talking about living a lavish life with a hot wife who has clearly had a few too much lip work done adds to this whole gimmick too. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/tna-impact-wrestling-1-19-16.html Screens - TNA is at least trying to make a $100 budget look like $1,000 http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/acfhub9680ggtjrutcxzt2642yepv2g5
