  1. Watching the Universo replay. Boy, Jinder is dangerously sloppy and stiff. I bet his push came after a bet he has where HHH said "you can't just take some jobber and get them over these days" and Vince said "DAMMIT, SURE I CAN PAL! ARE YOU SAYING I DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE? JUST MAKE SURE HE ISN'T TESTED FOR A MONTH OR TWO AND I'LL HAVE A HIT ON OUR HANDS!" Then somebody told him about the India market and he started laughing maniacally. (his theme and entrance are admittedly pretty good) Nakamura/Owens was of course perfectly fine. Very nice transition into the corner senton. Baron needs to either stop wearing that sock cap or invest in some Bosley.
  2. I KEPT MY REASON BY RECITING THE MULTIPLICATION TABLES BACKWARDS~! Like everybody else here I grew up on West's Batman and though rewatching in recent years it seemed a little cringeworthy (I guess I've not been as innocent; also, weed would probably have helped) but seeing that again was great. I did the eye gesture as I took a shot earlier today in honor. EDIT: Forgot to mention Robin geeking out in the Batmobile. It appears that Burt Ward might've been touching himself in the scenes they didn't show. Also, this!
  3. Maybe Family Guy will do a Mayor West funeral episode that won't stink for a change RIP
  4. Yeah. After watching that Naito match last night, Elgin deserves way better (like Tanahashi's spot in the IC belt tourney).
  5. Which should I watch first? The mask match?
  6. You know what, that's pretty interesting. I was too busy digging on the FX and waiting for what was gonna hit next to think about any of the subtext.
  7. That screencap of Bull and Akira is boss, btw
  8. No thanks on that end. I went ahead and have got CDRs of The Book of Souls so I'll let you know when I get around to them. In the meantime there's this (which is very much not Maiden) The Dogs and Kraut songs are time-capsule worthy and I can't believe I never got into this stuff before now. In particular the Dogs' song sounds like the best song that the Stooges never recorded.
  9. I walked in from work just in time to watch KAMAITACHI/DRAGON LEE. Having never seen them work together before, all I can say is: that shit was nuts. Normally I would complain about a match being nothing but a string of high spots and finishers but these guys hate each other and blasted into every single thing. Even if they got up after everything almost immediately and just jumped into it again, I didn't really care. This was my version of Okada/Omega and I loved it. If you want to watch two men try to end each other years before they should then that's it. After this, maybe they can work a smart match? Bonus points for the Rings of Saturn, as always. NAITO/ELGIN: This should be fun. Naito broke Elgin's eye socket with his heel which put him out for awhile so there's some motivation for revenge here. And that is pretty much met by Elgin crushing Naito's face with his ass on a rolling senton from the apron. Ouch. Naito responds by trying to take out Big Mike's knee in nasty fashion. Mike manages some kinda reverse powerbomb to come back and -- good god at long last -- is STILL SELLING THE LEG. He also hits some short lariats that look like murder. After those and some of his feats of strength I now want him to make a Strong Freebirds with Sekimoto and Okabayashi. Shit, they've been in every other promotion, why not? As JR and Barnett note, he keeps going up high and comes up no dice. Three episodes next Friday, also: Okada/Shibata is next week? Is this the brain damage match? Elgin knocks Naito head over heels and then makes him do a spit take with two of the most vicious lariats ever. Wow. And Elgin is STILL selling the knee. Naito's Poisoned Frankensteiner is totally unnecessary and dangerous but hey, after the last match... To his credit he goes for a Sambo Lock after that to work on the knee again. Volk Han would approve. They go on the apron, Naito spits in his Mike's face, and he splatters him with a White Noise on the fucking apron. Jesus H. Christ. Again, he lands on his face with his ass. On the apron. I'm not sure how many receipts he deserves from an accident but that's enough. After that he finally gets the Falcon Arrow off the top he's been looking for but again no three. He then proceeds to hit two elbows that made me say out loud "FUCK!". And two powerbombs. And a Death Valley Driver into the corner. At the same time Naito is trying to gain any kind of leverage by going to the eye and attempting Destino, etc. After he survives three more consecutive powerbombs... well, it's preordained. There's a couple more hope spots but Elgin loses to Destino. They could have dropped the powerbomb segment and had Naito win with the Sambo Lock, but that's just me. Otherwise, this was awesome. Elgin is a beast and Naito is a slimy, belt-throwing, face-gobbing prick. You have no reason not to watch this.
  10. Von Erich is a different level of stupid. Maybe call this one the Kasai scale...
  11. That's a crazy recap. A lot of stuff I forgot and stuff I didn't know, like Mike being a Marine sniper in 'Nam (!).
  12. Everyone's sleeping on Nakamura having a mohawk in his Instagram pic. Swanky!
  13. "Purgatory" is my live Maiden dream song. Can you imagine what they would do with three guitars on those harmonies? Also "Phantom of the Opera" because they didn't play it when I saw em Here's a jacked-up version with Bruce live Also, full disclosure: I still haven't heard The Book of Souls. Maiden albums (hell, songs) have gotten intimidating for me in their length and I passed it by, which I think I'll rectify tonight.
  14. Damn. Ron was great on the Puerto Rico set, I can't point out a specific match off the top of my head but he's a hit pretty much any time he shows up, which is mostly tagging with Chicky and being the worker of the two. He was known as Rambo Ron Starr instead of Rotten Ron Starr which was his Stampede name, due to his 'Nam duties which were pretty heavy apparently. RIP EDIT: Shit, he wrote a book?! I gotta read that http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2017/02/06/22703494.html
  15. I haven't seen it since I was like eight (my folks rented it). What I remember most is the shadow ghosts dragging that guy away. So, yeah, pretty scary
  16. Speaking of Kills Karate Kill Dir. Kurando Mitsutake Opens July 18th, coming soon to El Rey Network probably shortly thereafter
  17. Leftovers VOD on July 11 Prepare to take your anger out on something inanimate, please
  18. If Scotty runs into the crowd again, somebody make a gif
  19. The thing I don't like about it is it reminds me of that awful planking trend a couple years back. His grin is infectious, though.
  20. Having one whole half being a Black Flag tribute and then putting NEGATIVE FUCKING APPROACH on the other shoulder is the best.
  21. Since I missed one and a half damn episodes I'm a little lost: why did Nacho replace the pills? What does he have against Salamanca?
  22. ...and Okada can't even imitate the smile? He can screw up anything. The pic with the Guerrillas might be the first time Finn hasn't grinned in a photo in awhile.
