  1. Feels like an opportunity to keep his job if Endeavor is really thinking about purging Vince cronies. But that hinges on Kenny Wrestlefart from Ken's Wrestlefarts dot com asking a moderately tough question.
  2. Slim Jim just put a pause on their relationship with WWE.
  3. Okay here's the deal. This is an upsetting story. People are upset. If it upsets you that people get upset, don't be shitty at them because they're upset. AND If you're upset, don't lash out at everyone because your upset. It's unhealthy and honestly unhelpful. We're all trying to sort out how we feel, and up until now we were doing it pretty well. We had disagreements, and most of us tried to listen and be respectful. There are no winners in this story. If you can't handle talking to each other like human beings over this inhumane shit, I start giving a week off to anyone involved in the conflict. Both sides. Doesn't matter if we're personally cool or not. Walk away from your keyboard. Mute the person that's bothering you. It's best for everyone else who've come here to connect to other fans and find some shelter from the storm. I'm going to go have a date night with my wife and celebrate my sister giving birth to a baby girl. When I come back, y'all better be cool to each other.
  4. ...My Barnes and Noble just has a couple copies of Barbie on a comic book rack. This is bullshit.
  5. When someone first brought up Slim Jim here, I thought they were asking historically why Slim Jim left back in the 90's. So I'm clearly out of the loop as to what commercials even play today. Is Miss Cleo still around?
  6. I swear anytime anyone says something about WWE's sponsors the first one I think of is.... STACKER 2. That was a billion years ago now. But it's all I remember.
  7. My gut reaction is to feel like that. But I try to take a breath and be understanding. Not everyone has the strength, you know? BUT This thought goes through my head: Imagine fighting a guy over using real glass in a match you're not in and threatening to walk out of the biggest show in the company's history. Then you leave and work for people you've called bootlickers and embarrassing humans. Then this happens. What do you do? I'd give anything for Punk to be the guy he wants us all to think he is.
  8. I should say, I don't think everyone knew. I'm not looking to go down the roster and assign guilt. What I really want is for someone, anyone to do the right thing. I don't need Bryan Danielson to say "Sorry guys, this fucker fooled me." It's fine, I don't blame him. But someone somewhere knew more and they did nothing. I just want one of them to stand up. I want someone to look at how TKO is approaching this and say, I'm not working here until that guy is gone. Anyone.
  9. I would hope and imagine most people didn't know the extent of it. But it feels like more than just a whisper to me. It feels like a lot of talking for years. In fact this specific accusation was brought up before, it's why he was ousted the first time. The total picture came out yesterday, but people in the company have had much longer than 24 hrs to reckon with the character of this asshole.
  10. I'd give anything for someone to just stand up and walk out. I get what you're saying, but my conflict with this is that this wasn't really a surprise. I don't think he was good at hiding any of it. I'm not interested in hunting people down and saying "what did you know?", but in this specific case, it's clear people knew. And I'm more hurt that it took this long for some it all to come around. This wasn't one abuser, this was a team effort. People supported him in doing it. So I don't fault people for wondering how bad the systemic rot is.
  11. This is kind of the anger I'm feeling today, and something I alluded to in an earlier post when I talked about who else knew Vince like this.. Like others had to know, and I just feel like the industry went silent today. And I also have a lot of disdain for anyone who said they were a "wrestling journalist" who only spent their time reviewing RAW and trying to get access to their favorite wrestlers. We all knew he was garbage. They knew too. And instead of trying to get to the bottom of it, they played nice for access and clicks.
  12. Just wanted to say I get where you're coming from. I feel that way about a lot of stuff. I don't really know what the answer is. I love the idea of wrestling, but then I wonder how many kids got a Make-a-Wish visit from this company, and now their parents are like "That guy was doing what with women?" It's fucked.
  13. .... I thought it meant doctor to celebrities, not a doctor who is themselves a celebrity.
  14. I've honestly thought the same thoughts as this, long before today. I feel like everyone knew Vince was a creep at best. Like they're all online. Everyone hears the same rumors. And some wrestlers have made some wild accusations about him in shoot interviews that feel less crazy today then they did 20 years ago. But then I'd hear Bryan Danielson say ... And I'd wonder, "am I fucking crazy?" And so many people talk about his brilliance that don't have to because they're independent. You mentioned Rock and Cena. Steve Austin is another one. I guess I have to remember that this gross side is still only one side of Vince, and that some people may have never been exposed to it. No matter how much it feels really fucking obvious to so many of us who've been keeping up with wrestling for the last 30-40 years. But it's probably really easy to overlook the red flags when the guy is also making your childhood dreams come true. I had a family member who died who was not a great guy either. So many people came to the funeral and told me how much they loved him. The whole time I had to keep reminding myself that they just didn't see the bad. And it sucks that not everyone is paying attention. So is it possible that there are some wrestlers who knew but won't say. Undoubtedly. I'm interested in knowing, but I don't know if we'll ever know. I certainly want some atonement or justice or something. But I feel like that's rare these days.
  15. I feel you. We're planning a party with the kids to watch it. I'm making pizzas and we're all drawing numbers. I'm trying to remember that Vince doesn't own the company any more, and it looks like some of the worst offenders are either out or being ousted. Many of the people who work there are clearly much happier now that he's gone. Sadly I think the biggest life skill WWE has taught me is how to compartmentalize.
  16. Remember that Saudi trip when all the wrestlers were "held hostage", while Brock and Vince got to fly away on his private jet? Reads a little different now.
  17. This will probably be a big conversation so the talk of Vince and the wall street journal story will go over here:
  18. Against my better judgment I wrote about my Top 10 Criterion films. You monsters. https://www.getoutofdepth.com/blog/top-10-criterion-releases
  19. ALSO while we're talking about laserdiscs, I stumbled onto this blog a couple weeks ago called Bad Audio on Blu-Ray: https://blah-ray.blogspot.com/p/what-isthis-revisited-my.html The writer compares audio tracks over different formats of the same movie. Sometimes the laserdisc is the last great audio track of a movie. He also posts wave form pictures and it's amazing how much the wave form changes from release to release.
  20. Speaking of LaserDiscs... I was just catching up on this guy's youtube channel and he did a couple of videos about laserdisc preservation:
  21. Okay that's enough. Someone turn off the good times for Detroit. It's getting gross.
