  1. Yeah love that moment when she accidently pulled the DVD and then slammed that shit back for the blu. You know you're in way too deep in the collector mentality when a moment like that gets your attention.
  2. I'm trying to get reacquainted with AEW programming and I can't recall... what is the difference between Rampage and Collision? I thought they only had two shows. Is Rampage just jobber matches?
  3. In a mild defense of Tony. He watched Punk lose his shit and go after Jack Perry, of all people. Then Punk goes towards Tony, still losing his shit, and two guys have to hold him back. So in that chaotic moment, it's not unreasonable to be scared, perhaps even afraid for your life. When violence happens you don't really know when it's going to stop. As outsiders we can say that might be an over reaction. And we can certainly say he was being a little melodramatic by repeating those feelings to a live audience after time to reflect. But I'm sure in that moment he felt scared and I don't blame him.
  4. Honestly, I feel like that Omega/Mox exploding deathmatch ending was worse than making this Punk/Perry stuff an angle. This wasn't anywhere near as bad as Steph leading the crowd to celebrate her dad after he was kicked out the first time. I've seen decades of bad wrestling and comically bad angles, gimmicks and stories. This doesn't really compare. No one's career is over after this. And the more I think of it, I think short term this sucks for AEW, but may work out long term because the mystery is dead. They'll get dunked on for now because people were ready to dunk on them for doing it anyway. But now that we've seen it, it's not interesting. It doesn't make Punk look cool. Jack didn't shoulder check him walking into the back, like I recall one report claimed. It's a weird little scuffle that ends about as quick as it began. They took a bizarre story that captured people's imaginations, and turned it into nothing by showing them the reality. Now we all want to move on from it. And we will. After about 3-6 more months of Punk chants.
  5. @Matt D You got like three Willow matches I can watch to prep for this?
  6. I watched the footage again and it's fucking hilarious how calm Hook is. He just kind of watches. Gently puts his belt down, walks over to Samoa Joe who has Perry wrapped up and puts his hand up. Tranquilo. From a story line perspective, I feel like this telegraphs Jack Perry costing FTR the match and joining the Bucks and Okada as the new Elite. Which kinda bums me out. I really enjoyed their match at All In and would dig more of this. Finished watching Joe vs. Dustin which was okay. It's awesome that Dustin has maintained himself since getting back in shape. I thought they worked well together but the match was missing a little something. Felt like second gear to me. As much as I loved Joe losing his fucking mind after being attacked, I kinda hate that he wasn't just knocked the fuck out after getting punched in the face with that chain. And if he is going to get up even just to crawl away, it should probably sold as him being super human, and question whether Swerve can possibly do enough to get this done at Dynasty. I also watched Edge/Penta, and Edge is really having a great time. I thought his powerslam on the apron really cool, while still feeling safer than some of the other apron spots.
  7. Okay, some questions for the folks who have been following... This Chris Jericho/Hook story... Is it basically about how Jericho is old, and trying to be relevant by latching on to young and cool talent... Because he looked so pathetic apologizing to Hook, and I kinda love this as an actual story. "Sorry Hook baby, that was my fault, please don't leave me or no one will care about ol' Lionheart anymore."
  8. Punk was not right to put his hands on Jack Perry. No matter how dumb this angle is, he's not right. The idea that he gets his name chanted for that shit bothers me more than Tony and the Bucks airing the footage.
  9. I thought the footage and the whole angle, was handled about as well as they could if they were going to do it. They tried to position FTR as the adults in the room who are focused on making AEW awesome and not petty beefs between egos. Basically it's dumb that Punk did this and it's dumb that The bucks did this. But they probably would've been better off not doing any of it.
  10. It's like watching Wrestlemania but with MST3K sitting in the front row. I get being messy, but that shit sitting in front of the TV would drive me crazier than Drew Mac not LEAVING THE BUILDING. JUST LEAVE.
  11. I can't handle all that shit in front of the TV. My fucking skin is crawling with all that.
  12. Bucks did fight FTR at All In, so it would be logical to think they're going to show some kind of footage of FTR and Bucks backstage so they can build some heat for their rematch. So while they technically wouldn't be lying, as it would be real footage from a controversial show, it would still be disappointing. And probably not in a way that would make people tune in to watch them get their ass beat.
  13. Decided to get in on this Kino Lorber March Madness sale(which runs through most of april) https://kinolorber.com/collection/march-madness-sale-2024 Most movies are in that 10 dollar sweet spot. Absolutely great selection.
  14. That's why I'm so intrigued. If it's fake it could be a disastrous bait and switch that also embarrasses a couple of newz guys claiming to have the scoop. If it's real... then it's real and I'm assuming it has some information that contradicts what was said in the Helwani interview. Otherwise, why show it? If I had to guess it would be the assertion that Punk didn't do anything to make Tony Khan feel personally threatened. I hate that I keep getting sucked into this particular drama, but it is one of the strangest series of events to happen in wrestling in a long time.
  15. And yet... it was awesome when Iyo flipped out of it.
  16. It was like an 80's hair metal band video but Tawny Kitaen had a beard.
  17. I like my ring announcers to be that fucking operatic with it. She only has like three lines a match. I say juice 'em.
  18. I thought Samantha Irvin was fucking great.
  19. Main event was awesome. Poor Seth had the worst weekend tho. Bayley and Sky were the show stealers of the weekend.
  20. This is the kind of stunt that has the potential to backfire so bad it will go down in the annals of wrestle crap history. So I'm tuning in.
  21. Definitely put people on ignore. Life's too short and it makes our job easier. It drives me nuts that the same people on this board have been bickering with each other for so long. In some cases it's been years. The same fight for years.
  22. Like specifically the Macho Man figure.
  23. I enjoyed the show for the most part. Becky/Rhea was okay, loved the finish. R-Truth was probably the wrestler who elicited the biggest response in my house. Which is great for him, probably not great for the rest of the roster. Didn't care for the rest of the ladder match tho. Sami/Gunther was awesome and I marked out for the turnbuckle brainbuster. I remember turning to my son saying "I think he's going to do it," and we both were on the edge of our seat wondering if it was going to happen. No disappointments. Last night was one of those moments where Andrade felt like a much bigger deal than almost anyone else in the match. He always surprises me like that. Seems to always have a match where I think "This guy is awesome, why is he not focused on more?" Poor Asuka can't win at Mania. Fuck everything. The Usos. Sigh. I like Jey. But this match didn't have the fire and intensity to match the story they told. Which is the case for a lot of matches these days. I liked most of the opening bit of Bloodline vs. RnR. I didn't like extended beat down on Seth and I actually blame Cody for that. He just kind of stood there like a dope for most of it. Took too long for him to finally walk in an slap the Rock out of the Sharpshooter. Match picked up in the finishing stretch and had me going again. Mama Rhodes yelling BULLLSHEEYET at the Rock was spot of the night. I had a lot of fun, but I'm looking forward to what I'm guessing will be a bonkers night 2. Still thinking it goes full Avengers Endgame for the main event. And I'm ready for it. I don't think there's an angle they can pull where Roman wins that'll keep me around after tonight. And I love Roman. But it's time.
  24. Hey. For AEW fans who want to talk more about the company and less about Punker, I have the following. I lapse in and out of AEW all the time. Right now WWE is scratching the itch with their push to Mania. But that'll be over soon and I'll probably lapse out of them too. So What is the most interesting part of AEW TV right now? What do you feel about the company's future in terms of storytelling and matchups? I don't care about financials or ratings.
