  1. Yea Sanders had a bad game but it doesn't change his long term prospects. If the Browns were smart they'd just pencil in Flacco for the year and let Gabriel and Sanders redshirt the season (I say it that way as with injuries, plans can change). Or at least til December and let them play the last couple weeks if the season is over for the Browns. Then next offseason let them battle it out for the starting job, and give the "better" one the full reins to prove themselves. Not alternate or 'one bad game and you are out' but an honest attempt to give that player a chance to get on-field experience. Sanders isn't ready to start in the NFL but 95% of college QBs aren't their rookie season, for every Daniels there are a dozen other examples of players that would have been better off learning and practicing. The harder part is roster construction as they can't put either on the practice squad as another team may sign them. They are claiming to be fine keeping four QBs on the roster but that would be unusual, they may not have a choice though if they don't want to start the year with one of the rookies as the backup.
  2. I heard from Brent, he's alive and well! Also, this year some of the cool new features on Yahoo are behind a paywall, like having a seven team playoff to match up with real life NFL. I'm not opposed to some of the things they've added (playing two opponents a week, the seven team playoff, etc.) but without a forum within the Yahoo Fantasy anymore I can't really gauge interest and only like half the league are active in this forum at this point. So I just keep things the same.
  3. It is that time of year for Fantasy Football! I am a few weeks later than usual making this thread, my apologies, real life just been kicking my butt. If you are in the DVDVR Paid League, it auto-renewed as it always does with the same people. I haven't heard from Brent in awhile so I'm concerned he has disappeared, so if anyone here is interested in joining that wasn't in it last year let me know in case a spot opens up! Also if you were in it last year and don't want to be in it this year let me know ASAP so I can figure out if we have spots to fill. Payment for the paid league is due by the 31st, draft is September 2nd. Yahoo took away the option to have the "dues" listed so I'll just keep track in my head who hasn't paid yet, I'll start messaging people tomorrow. Course if you aren't in the paid league we can still use this thread for general fantasy football chatter.
  4. Not sure who to root for but I assume this will be settled before it reaches the 'discovery' phase as I have no doubt there are internal communications the NFL definitely does not want out there in the wild. If the next NFL appeal fails I suspect Gruden will be a lot richer.
  5. I don't know if it will stick but I do like the theory that 100,000 wrestling fans were so annoyed at SS and/or Brock coming back that they thought "wonder what AEW is up to." Doesn't mean they liked what they saw and will come back week by week but since AEW didn't announce anything special for the show I'm not sure what else would have led to a 16% increase from the week before.
  6. The thing is, Brock was just taken off TV after the sale of WWE/new owners TKO not wanting the distraction as they set up their new investment, they could have really used him all along. Brock isn't being sued, its doubtful there would be any type of settlement this early in the process as he is just named as an example of something Vince did wrong. New owners TKO were just smart enough to realize that him just being named in the lawsuit a lot and being at best a morally lacking person was a good PR reason to keep him off TV. As far as their legal case goes it doesn't *hurt* to have him on TV wrestling, its just a bad idea from a PR perspective (I'd say a moral perspective but I never think that was why they took him off, it was strictly a PR move). Course, times are very different now then they were then and they are less worried about pushback but I'll leave it at that.
  7. I know its poor form to post random plays from your favorite team but this is one of those throws that fans talk about for awhile: I know the base runner didn't slide and he'd have been safe if he did but he didn't slide because that throw is made 1% of the time at best and probably isn't even tried most of the time. Acuna's arm is underrated since he's so good at everything else. I know the Braves won't re-sign him in a couple years so I have to enjoy him while I can (stay healthy!).
  8. Yea, considering how long it took him to recover from the last concussion, I can understand why he talked the way he did. Concussions are one of those things not only promotions are more careful about wrestlers working through but with more knowledge of the long term effects he may decide its not worth the risk to continue wrestling even if he is cleared. I think that second part is important as he wasn't 'knocked out' or even showed serious issues in the Collision match so he could have always ignored it and wrestled Saturday anyway (which probably is what most wrestlers would have done 15, 20 years ago). But he clearly reported whatever he felt to TK and doctors so he's mindful of his health, I don't think he'll be back until he and doctors are 100% comfortable with it, if that happens.
  9. Danielson then immediately showing up on the biggest AEW PPV of the year and doing the Yes motion to get the crowd to chant it makes this even more funny. Either he was just being silly about WWE telling him that or he went out of his way to do the opposite of what they asked.
  10. It is 3,000 I believe, I think the sticker was just hard to read at the angle. I was going to ask if they stopped dealing with ringsidecollectibles since the last few times I went to that site they didn't have any AEW figures featured, but I just went to the website and the next AEW set is in the banner. Just feels like there was a lull there in full releases and I was surprised that AEW is selling more limited sets strictly on their website. I like the look of them, I just hate it takes so long to mass produce them that half the time by the time the figures release the wrestlers are either doing a different gimmick, are out injured, or no longer work in AEW. Flair randomly having a AEW figure come out is wild. I have the limited edition Ospreay and pre-ordered the limited edition Mone, may do the same with Okada.
  11. I'll be the one to say something nice about the show. I liked the street fight. It was good and worth watching.
  12. While I don't think it will help his chances of getting a work visa regardless, it should be pointed out his prison sentence is suspended. But he'll still have a felony on his record which is why getting a work visa will be either impossible or near-impossible, not sure which. The girl's mother received a ten year sentence for trafficking the daughter which.... I am not overly familiar with the finer details of the case so I'm not saying that is wrong but it is s heck of a discrepancy between the sentences.
  13. Dominick Mysterio vs. AJ Styles has been cancelled as Dom is "injured." The tin foil hat part of me thinks that Styles just doesn't want to go to Saudi Arabia due to the issues going on there after what happened years ago when the flight got delayed by a day. He was one of the ones more vocal at the time about not being happy so I could see him saying "no thanks" with the latest iffy situation. I fully expect the show to still go on unless something really big happens that makes it impossible.
  14. Only thing I'd like to see on the card added is a crazy spotfest match. Firstly, because I like crazy spotfest matches. Secondly, those types of "car crash" matches are sometimes a nice breather between drama/story heavy matches. Like a four way tag team ladder match, something like that. Doesn't have to go crazy long, just some casual fun to get a break between the more serious stuff. I think we've luckily now phased out the "diva match" from 20 years ago as the breather match but a spotfest match can have the same effect and be a nice change of pace.
  15. I love Borderlands. I know its problems and issues. But I love it. Its one of the best couch co-op experiences I have playing with my brother (the other being the Gears of War series) and they are saying the right things about changes they made (faster to get around the map, legendries more rare). I'm excite.
  16. We can only theorize. The last time she was on TV she was telling Serena Deeb nobody cares about her while she was trying to cut a promo to build a match between them that never ended up happening (her last run was after the Cole split so I don't think the two are connected unless there was an unreported backstage incident). So either its backstage heat, TK just prioritizing more talented wrestlers, Britt wants to focus on being a dentist, who knows. I'd be surprised if WWE was but too interested due to her age, injury history, and being a mediocre wrestler but hard to say. Either way I'm not sure we will see her in AEW again.
  17. The funny thing is from googling it now, WCW used the "paperwork" excuse/explanation for a lot of weird booking decisions from 1997 to 2000 so it could be any number of things.
  18. Tapping my memory here but I think the "paperwork" storyline was that it was going to be Luger vs. Hogan at Road Wild but someone messed with the paperwork on Nitro so the match was announced as TONIGHT live on Nitro instead. So the paperwork thing was more a way to hotshot the title on Luger for the pop and to increase (in theory) interest in the re-match at the PPV.
  19. How is that only a $250 fine, pretty sure in VA you are getting slapped with a lot more then that as a punishment for going 40+ over. I had to look it up as I felt crazy, in Virginia "Reckless driving crosses the mark from traffic infractions to a criminal charge, so it is a Class One misdemeanor. Class One misdemeanors come with a maximum fine of $2,500 and the possibility of jail time for up to 12 months" and minimally they make you go to a court date over it.
  20. I've been watching baseball for 30+ years, I've never seen a balk called because the catcher used his mask to gather a ball after a wild pitch/passed ball. And he didn't need to, just absent mindedly did it. Coach didn't argue.
  21. I'm mostly surprised its Gunther as I am having trouble seeing Goldberg get him up for the Jackhammer. Gunther is a big dude and Goldberg was struggling with it four years ago, now he could do it on a smaller wrestler I am sure but Gunther will be a challenge. If Gunther had a smaller lackey I'd say he can hit it on him just for the pop but he doesn't. So we'll see how that goes, I imagine he wants to hit the move in his retirement match but seems like a risk.
  22. While that is what the Bengals are doing, its not something they made up as other rookies have signed similar deals in recent years. Xavier Worthy for example has similar language in his per reports although I don't know if any reporter has done a full look at every rookie contract to see how often it is done since before now no player had made a big deal about it. Course, its optional language but there probably are players that have the "I'll sign it as I won't get in trouble anyway" mindset. Not that I disagree with him not wanting to sign it, the Bengals shouldn't have let it get to this point.
  23. Mostly bad timing, I was curious and looked it up and she was with WWE and on SmackDown when WWE went to MSG in September 2021, but while she happened to wrestle on the week after she didn't on the MSG show. So that was her one shot.
  24. Mariah May's new name has leaked, word it is: My reaction:
  25. In a "how the fuck does this happen" story that seems to not be being pushed by ESPN etc. at the moment, the AP tabulated the points wrong for last year's end of year awards, by double counting one ballot and not counting another one altogether. Their solution was after the fact (and telling no one) was to remove the double ballot but not actually include the ballot that was excluded (Dungy's) so now the vote is out of 49 instead of 50. None of the winners changed but Allen did now win by slightly more since the removed ballot voted for Jackson.
