  1. What’s the building on the side panels? Looks like the Hill Valley Clock Tower.
  2. If I remember right one of McMahon's excuses was the fear that the crowd was "going to riot" if they cancelled the show, one would assume they didn't cancel the show was so they wouldn't have to refund the ppv buys.
  3. The Steelers list, that Bubby Brister and Mark Malone have over 20 wins shows how good and underrated the 1980's Steelers defense was. Ben Roethlisberger (144) Terry Bradshaw (107) Kordell Stewart (46) Neil O’Donnell (39) Bubby Brister (28) Bobby Layne (27) Mark Malone (21) Jim Finks (18) tie Tommy Maddox and Mike Tomczak (15) Ed Brown (14)
  4. Sadly no one from Cameo is on Cameo. Taking a deep dive on who’s working the Orwellian gimmick table that is Cameo is well worth it.
  5. It's kind of freaky that Avenue 5 and this season of Brockmire were written, shot and aired before the pandemic, they both seem like something that would have been initially conceived right now.
  6. Does anyone over 70 watch CBS? I mean there's got to be a point where they purge the NCIS shows and remakes the same way did the rural shows in the early 70's.
  7. Yeah if the NBA does the Las Vegas thing the teams are going to be confined to their floor of the hotel when they’re not playing or practicing. Also even if Las Vegas is somewhat open it’s still going to be a ghost town on The Strip.
  8. As someone who was 10/11 years old during this timeframe I can co-sign that Mr. T was a HUGE celebrity and phenomenon, he would have been the third most popular/well known tv star behind Bill Cosby and Michael J. Fox, plus people thought he was a legit badass due to his look and how he worked his gimmick. Oh yeah he also had a Saturday morning cartoon show and his own breakfast cereal. Wrestlemania and the WWF wouldn’t be where they are today if it wasn’t for Mr. T working that match and the build up to it. Also, if Vince had any plans for Dr. D working the WM main event he wouldn’t have had him jobbing clean to a visiting Inoki a few months before the big show.
  9. I swear I remember WCW having a “Triangle Match” on the Saturday morning show in 1990 or 1991. Only two in the ring at a time with the third person able to tag in or jump in to break up a pin fall or submission.
  10. When Piper came in he was a manager/wrestler and had a quasi stable with Orndorff and Shultz, that lasted to maybe the summer of 1984. If I remember right they all sort of went their separate ways with Piper brining on Bob "Ace" Orton as his bodyguard, Orndorff going with Heenan and Schultz with no manager but Piper and Orndorff still teamed up from time to time, I saw them work with Snuka & Tonga Kid in December 1984. Orndorff had a better look and was a better worker than Shultz so that's most likely the reason he got the spot.
  11. Looking back I could see Schultz getting teamed up with Beefcake over Greg Valentine, remember The Hammer was still IC Champ when The Dream Team was formed so Vince keeping him as a single with Dr. D around makes some sense, also Beefcake sucked and needed to be in a tag team.
  12. True but aren't the deals for Raw on USA and SmackDown on FOX pretty long? Also with Disney's theme parks shutdown and not looking to open anytime soon and no live sports on ESPN can they really toss a large amount of money at Vince without the Board of Directors and shareholders freaking out? The money from the theme parks and ESPN is what fueled Disney's epic shopping spree and that money isn't coming back until next year at the earliest.
  13. Also why would Disney or Fox buy a company that has tv deals with their competitors? Sure the checks for the rights fees are nice but aren't these big media companies looking to run content they own on a platform they also own so they get all the money?
  14. This episode once again proves that all of the hysteria about “exposing the business” back then was all for naught, the segment didn’t keep anyone from buying a ticket or watching pro wrestling on tv.
  15. One of the perks of growing up in a city and going to a Roman Catholic Church/School was that no one was concerned with all of the moral panic stuff due to the massive gambling operation that was going on.
  16. 20/20 was trashy and that it was treated as a "legit" news show back then is scary, I think they singlehandedly kept the Satanic Panic rolling for a few more years and straight up showed an exorcism. The only blowback they got was an occasional "Jeer" in the TV Guide "Cheers & Jeers" section.
  17. Pittsburgh is a lot further east than Atlanta so someone at MLB finally understands geography! The Buccos should have never been placed in the Central to begin with.
  18. They really should have had WMIX on a Saturday night purely for aesthetic reasons, the old outdoor Caesars Palace venue looked bad ass once the sun went down. The only thing I really remember from this WM was watching it with my uncles mailman friends and all of them thinking Hulk had "steroid cancer" since he was so skinny.
  19. Heenan tapped out on managing Flair after being on the road with him for a few weeks, that's how hard Flair was rolling back then. When I saw Flair vs. Hogan in Pittsburgh, Jimmy Hart filled in for a "sick" Bobby Heenan.
  20. I think you’re underestimating the amount of cigarettes that were being smuggled, these operations weren’t someone like Bravo loading up his trunk with smokes during a trip to the reservation or filling up a suitcase during a trip to the States, these guys were packing panel trucks and full sized vans with cigarettes at the reservation that straddles the US/Canada border, along with cases of smokes buried inside semi-trucks coming in from the US. You also need to take into account the type of schedule the WWF ran back then, they were on the road for long stretches, most of the time they’d fly between towns and it’s no guarantee that Bravo would be within driving distance of Quebec for weeks at a time.
  21. The kids sitting behind Tua remind me of how I looked when forced to go to my sisters dance recitals.
  22. Highlight of the draft so far is Giants GM Dave Gettlemen trying to put on a mask. Also totally forgot that the Giants hired a Special Teams Coach to be there Head Coach.
  23. Remember Watts was cutting costs during his time at WCW so flying in Bravo wasn't going to happen, Bravo would have made way way way less than he was used to in the WWF, plus Bravo wasn't someone who worked for Watts in the past, he doesn't fit the Watts mold of ex-football player, JYD clone or Blowjob and WCW has no plans to run Quebec so there's no use for him down there. Smokey Mountain was a glorified indie who wouldn't be able to afford to fly Bravo in and Bravo trekking down to Tennessee to make $200 a show wasn't going to happen, same for Memphis where he'd make $50 a show. If the bills were piling up making $500 a show on WCW's light schedule or $200 a show in SMW wasn't going to help, the indie scene at the time wasn't as robust as it would be in a few years and after being a heel for so long he wouldn't be able to make that much at the gimmick table. Bravo was in a tough spot and if he had a family connection to organized crime especially with someone who's near the top it's easy to see why he went that route, he was looking at the money and not being taken away in handcuffs or being gunned down, most people who get involved with crime don't think about the consequences. Had Bravo been able to hang on in the WWF for a few more years or the coke dealer picked up the cigarettes when he should have maybe Bravo's one of the guys Hogan brings in when he goes to WCW, he'd be a prime candidate for someone WCW forgot they had on the roster and allowed his contract to roll over a few times.
  24. Yeah he was working non-stop for over 20 years and that takes a toll on the body and mind. Add in that his daughter was young enough where he could be home for all the stuff wrestlers on the road miss.
