Not an expert, but I can't imagine that now is the point at which any part of our government starts taking professional wrestling seriously.

I skipped some pages because the page forward/back buttons don't work for me but was someone seriously talking about regulatory involvement with pro wrestling beyond "can't have blood in this state" or whatever?

  2. Someone doesn't understand, somehow, how responses can be disrupted by posts which are made in the intermedium. This response could well seem like a non-sequitir in the same way depending on other's activities. Crazy how that works.

    2) Andrade is a wonderful pickup but good gravy was that the shittiest fucking debut possible. No heat. Fucking cold storage shit.

It's fun seeing people decry the use of "simp" and immediately exhibit those tendencies. You know it's okay to say when something isn't good, right?

You admitted like a week ago you're Aaron Rodgers' age and you're out here calling people simp like you're 11 so I think I'll take the hardest of passes.

Sorry I'm not a member of Marky Mark's Funky Bunch. Nothing substantial here at all.

    Dave Meltzer star ratings:

    Page/Cage, ****1/2.

    Bucks vs. Moxley/Kingston, ****3/4.

    Casino Battle Royal, ***1/4.

    Rhodes/Ogogo, **1/4.

    Miro/Archer, ***1/4.

    Baker/Shida, ***1/2.

    Sting/Allin vs. Sky/Page, ***1/2.

    Omega/Page/Cassidy, ****1/2.

    ?

No, lord no. The scale's busted. Try again.

  5. If there's going to be an implied no-DQ way of going about everything regarding interference or weapons then don't start counting out people either. That's not a gripe about a specific referee, more the company philosophy. We had just seen someone take a crutch to the dome in plain view of a referee minutes earlier but now Darby has to beat a count after being yeeted into the third row?

I agree entirely, Orange and Darby were way over with kids pre-pandemic, it would be silly not to capitalize

There were many visible kids at the PPV last night, to follow up on this. They were obviously dwarfed by all the adult men who likely make up 90-95% of their fan base but children appeared enough to give me some hope for the future.

Has anyone called him "Glass Joe" yet? Obviously, that's not even close to a "first boss", but still...

He's obviously Chair Man, and the first of Wily's robots you defeat so you can use the Chair Shield on the next opponent, Tully Man.

I don't think it'll happen, but Kenny losing to OC and having an existential crisis after being beaten by HIM would be amusing television.

Absolutely, I'd want that to be the catalyst for Kenny drop the bullshit and become the deadly serious heel champion for Hangman to ultimately take down at whatever the winter PPV is called. He wins the belt back from OC in a couple of weeks and KILLS him in the process, like off TV for a month at least. I'd start turning around on Kenny then.

I don’t know if it’s been specifically explained as such on air (nor should it have to be), but you pretty much laid out what the story is on the QT/Ogogo thing:  QT took his best shot at Cody and was soundly beaten, so now he’s hiding behind his biggest, baddest student, hoping Ogogo can finish the job that he couldn’t.

Okay then, thanks, at least I have the chain of events right. I think when they started this US/UK part of the Family/Factory feud it scrambled my brains.

EDIT: I forgot about Darby/Sting versus The Jerks (whoever it was here who started calling them that, thanks). Darby could use a rebound win here but I think Sting eats the fall after Darby does something insane and wipes himself out. They've really only just put The Jerks together, can't lose their first real feud. Right?

Darby had to stand between Cody and Kenny~!

They should have been arranged by ascending height! The memes alone would have been worth it.

The wrestling buddies look kind of small. Also, the faces are flat. No raised noses.

Yeah, I had a Warrior one as a kid and even rediscovering it as a teenager I remember it being bigger than these. The ones from 30 years ago would have spanned Darby's whole torso.

I really like the four they picked for those. In terms of card placement one is obviously not like the others but Luchasaurus is super kid-friendly so it makes sense.

Come to think of it, what percentage of AEW fans are children, say, 12 and under? While their product is virtually sexless it's still pretty profane and way more violent than WWE. I wonder if, way down the line, AEW uses Dark and Elevation like the old WWF Jakked/Metal. While those had identical matches taped for them, the former had full-on Attitude Era presentation while the latter was toned down to be able to air on Saturday mornings.

  11. Pretty excited for the show tonight even though the results are mostly predictable.

It might be expected for Cody to beat Ogogo but I'm not so sure. I just watched the weigh-in for the first time and it's been a while since something has been presented and built up to this degree that feels less important and interesting with each passing week. QT being all "HE BEAT HIM BY ONE POUND SO HE'LL WIN SUNDAY" was really weird, like a crazy person who shouts nonsense in public. It doesn't help that QT's whole deal makes no sense. He broke away and formed his own gang, beat up Dustin and Cody and all that, THROWS PAINT~ on the wall of Cody's gym, it's heated stuff! Then he loses one match to Cody on TV before one of his green charges is quickly thrust into a Rocky IV homage and starts being built as a killer. I don't watch every bit of AEW content so maybe it was addressed on YouTube but as a fan that only watches Dynamite it's weird. Anyway, Ogogo wins to set up a heroic comeback for Cody later.

I think the Bucks retain and Moxley leaves for real to help with his new kid but I thought he'd be gone after Revolution for the same reason so what do I know?

The battle royal is, by default, the least predictable match especially with a surprise entrant. Christian wins to set up a feud with Kenny that'll last a few weeks. If Andrade is the surprise entrant he'd better win.

Speaking of, there's no way Kenny loses. I'd shit myself if OC was given a freak win just for Kenny to get it back when they get back to their usual Dynamite timeslot. This will NOT happen but we also live in a reality where Jinder Mahal was a world champion for months. Poor Bastard Pac. He needs more to work with.

Cage beats Page, who turns face postmatch. I'd love to see him throw the FTW belt at Team Taz's feet and be all "I don't need this shit."

The Baker/Shida match is sadly the most foregone conclusion of the night. It'll be fun to watch but it's a shame this doesn't feel like a huge match that's been brewing since March. The "TNTDMDrama" Twitter handle shall come to pass.

In another match that's been telegraphed as hell but will hopefully be fun to watch without the goofy Matt Hardy stuff, The Pinnacle wins Stadium Stampede. I can't even begin to guess how this all goes down but the ending is pretty clear. They aren't going to top Hangman chasing people on a horse but they'll try.

Lance Archer is going to be sacrificed tonight to the force of nature that is Miro. Over/under on time Jake Roberts sticks out like a sore thumb on the hard camera is set at 4:15.

    Looking forward to Discord bullshitting!

Unless you are an e commerce site, who the fuck uses actual webpages anymore? All online social engagement is through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, & You Tube. What could possibly be on an AEW website that isn't covered by one of the socials? Does anyone actually visit the WWE webpage for... anything? AEW's merch is run through a subsidiary of PWTs. Their video content goes onto You Tube. They have a separate ticket website for events. What is even the purpose of an AEW website?

Either I am the old man yelling at clouds, or you are. I can't tell yet, lol.

You ignored where I said they neglect YouTube as well. Whatever your views on media are or however you want to be an apologist for a lack of effort, I'm fairly sure reading will still be involved.

I AM ONLY REPLYING TO SOMEONE AND NOT COMMENTING ON A SHOW WHICH IS AIRING CURRENTLY

We could now see Ethan Page & Brian Cage vs. Hangman Page & Christian Cage accompanied by Diamond Dallas Page inside a steel cage, in a match for the ages, on Rampage.

This was a rollercoaster and I thank you for it.

  14. Last week's Dynamite thread is dead, long live this week's!

(Did we ever find out what happened to Kane on May 19th?)

Don't know if this is a live or taped edition, but we DO have matches set up!

Varsity Blonds v.s. The Young Bucks (AEW Tag Team Championship)

    Austin Gunn v.s. Anthony Ogogo

Christian Cage v.s. Matt Sydal (looking forward to this the most)

Red Velvet v.s. Serena Deeb (NWA Women's Championship)

These are the matches I got off a Daily DDT article from yesterday, isn't there also an Acclaimed/Mosley and Kingston match? I'd love to be able to reference AEW's website but it's pretty dire. I maintain that if they really want to succeed they need to enhance their online presence. YouTube uploads of (sometimes major) events on Dynamite won't appear until days later and the STATE of their website. You figure a promotion that relies on the online fanbase for its foundation and the majority of their filmed material would be on top of this stuff.

Anyway, excited as always despite the many flaws. At least they've sort of chilled on people being interrupted immediately during promos or interviews!

EDIT: Oh what the fuck, someone had the same idea at the same time! Apologies.
