  1. I guess I'm supposed to know who that is, but I don't.
  2. Tully - failed a drug test right before the PPV (might have been day of ppv) and was fired. Replaced by Heenan. Barry - Father and brother (Blackjack Mulligan and Kendall Windham) were running a counterfeiting ring and were arrested by the feds in late '89. Barry either left or was asked to leave after the arrest.
  3. Akeem suffered an injury less than two weeks before the PPV.
  4. I’ve watched this several times and still can’t figure out how the spot was supposed to go.
  5. I don’t think Bronson Reed is a good spokesman for the “listen to the doctors” campaign. I’m skeptical his doctors have have been telling him that he’s at a healthy weight.
  6. Santino’s unfunny shtick was “nails on a chalkboard” material for me. I don’t hate any wrestlers, but I do have an irrational dislike of Santino.
  7. Was shocked how many kids were out trick or treating in our neighborhood. We might have had a record number of kids. Curious if that is typical. Comments I've seen on social media have run thew gamut from practically none to record numbers.
  8. I don't really see the Usos > Wild Samoans comparison, either in terms of gimmick or in-ring style. They've thankfully never really done the "savage" characters most Samoans (and Tongans and Fijians and....) get stuck with. They debuted on the main roster as preppy anti-Samoans. They did go through a couple years where they wore face paint and did the siva tau as part of their entrance, but they didn't wrestle like the SST or Wild Samoans. Their style's always be more of a modern indie style (lots of superkicks, dives, high-flying). Wild Samoans were basically brawlers. SST too. And the Usos have never had the air of invincibility the SST and Wild Samoans had (as well as Umaga, Barbarian, Haku, etc; another "wrestling savage" staple: dishing out punishment while being almost impervious to it). Even when they wore the facepaint, I thought the presentation was closer to the Rock's than any other Samoan wrestler or team. SST - I refuse to remember them as the Headshrinkers - were definitely a better version of Afa and Sika. ST w/ Paul E. are still one of my favorite acts. Lol, now I kinda want to see the Usos smash a coconut over a jobber's head like the SST did, then eat the pieces.
  9. About damn time. Jay Lethal may never win another match once word of this gets out.
  10. I have no memory of a Harley/Vinnie Vegas pairing, so I've apparently forgotten it as well.
  11. Not sure how I feel about Jey joining Roman already. It makes sense as a story beat, but it felt like it happened too quick with no build. I mean, the opening segment was good, and Jey seemed appropriately conflicted, but the closing angle just seemed too easy. I expected Jey to become Roman's stooge in some way, shape, or form, but I thought he'd play a reluctant heel. Honestly, I'm wondering if the eventual payoff is that Jey is just gaslighting Roman and waiting to pick his spot? Dunno. Rest of the show was ok. I was sort of hoping Ziggler would beat Owens. Yeah, I didn't expect to be saying that either. I liked Owens' heel run a lot, but his babyface run hasn't done it for me and I can't remember the last time I was interested in one of his matches. The Seth-Murphy-Mysterio stuff continues to drag the show down. Is anyone coming out of this better off? Murphy, I guess since it's keeping him on tv regularly. I like Seth more than most people, but the Monday Night Messiah character hasn't worked for me and I feel like ti's probably killed his momentum as a face or heel. Not really digging Rey in this either. The father-daughter drama is kind of making him seem like a controlling jerk dad. Less said about Dominck the better. He's ok-ish for his experience level in the ring, and he does some stuff that's impressive for someone his size. The high-speed dive under the bottom rope into a sunset flip powerbomb he did on Murphy a month or two back looked like it wrecked them both. But he's not ready for the spot he's in and probably wouldn't be on tv at all if he wasn't Rey's son. This week's show has me wondering if Aalyah and Murphy are going to join back up with Seth after Rey and Dom refuse to accept the relationship. Hope not.
  12. I mean, it's not What does that make the people sending Insomniac death threats because they remodeled Peter Parker's face?
  13. I’m still waiting to hear if Bubsy: Paws on Fire will be b/c
  14. Ubisoft says that all of their PS4 titles will be playable on PS5 except Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy Pack, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles India, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Russia, Risk, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Werewolves Within, and Space Junkies. I’ll be surprised if AC Syndicate doesn’t get patched or remastered for PS5. Not sure anyone will miss the rest of that list much. edit: Ubisoft retracted the statement, saying it may not be accurate.
  15. Same. Frame rate only matters to me when there's a sharp drop-off. And even then... Dark Souls on my PS3 had a couple areas that were basically slide shows, and I still enjoyed the hell out of the game. I have the remaster on my PS4 and it runs more consistently but I don't know that I enjoy it any more. I actually meant to mention that, but didn't. Basically, yeah. The designers haven't been shy about the game's resemblance to Shadow of the Colossus. It's basically meant to be Shadow of the Colossus: Nordic Edition. Appreciate all these Sony games coming with free upgrades to PS5 if you buy the digital copy. Makes waiting a bit for a new console a lot easier. Apparently, Sony thinks the pandemic will convince people to hold onto their PS4's longer than they would otherwise.
  16. YES!!!!! No firm release date other than "early 2021". PS5 version will have some next gen graphical improvements, run at 60 fps. Also, Rare announced that Evferwild's creative director, Simon Woodroffe, resigned from the company several weeks ago. Hopefully this doesn't affect Everwild overmuch. It' probably the Microsoft title I've been most intrigued by. Does anyone else feel the 30 fps vs. 60 fps. thing is overrated? II can feel a slight difference but it's never seemed significant.
  17. Well, at least she's on tv since the split. Billie Kay may have a better chance of being seen on the side of a milk carton. Since they aren't running house shows, do they only fly talent in if they aren't being used on tv that week, or do they do it WCW-style and fly everyone in (in case Vince blows up the show at 5:00 and rewrites the script while he eats dinner)?
  18. Tik Tok? Ugh, I don't even have to watch it to know it's going to be the worst softcore porno ever.
  19. This bothers me more than crunch. Lot of people in a lot of fields work 12-hr. days and a lot of them get paid far worse than game designers. I worked my share of 7-day, 80+ hr. weeks when I was just starting out, but I more or less accepted it as the price of getting promoted in that field and I felt like most people in the company regardless of level were making the same sorts of sacrifices and working crazy hours themselves. Not sure I'd appreciate management moving the goalposts on me at the last minute because telling me sooner what the timeframe was would "jeopardize the stock price." I think I'd be irate by that idea even if I was only working 20 hrs. a week.
  20. Came her to post much the same thing. The Garganos goofball heel routine is probably my favorite thing about NXT right now. Thought the show was decent, Liked Gargano-Priest a great deal. Rhea-Racquel was good, though a phone call distracted me midway through so I'm going to rewatch it. Io-Candace needed more time. The ladder bump was horrifying and Candace reminds me of Sasha Banks in that both women look too slight to take these sort of bumps and walk away. Didn't care for the smoke and mirrors (literally ) of Lumis-Grimes, though Wade had some good one-liners and Grimes' as a kinda idiotic chickenshit heel is fun. Escobar-Atlas was ok, but too short to be much. And I never really thought Atlas had a chance of winning. Escobar channeling WCW-era Rey makes me hope they send Rey to NXT to feud with Escobar, but I doubt that will happen. I dunno if it's lack of sympathy, but I feel the same. Maybe it's the fact that they've been pulling these sneak beatdowns on others for so long that they should be smart enough not to get suckered in themselves. Longtime heels usually get dumber when they become smiling babyfaces. UE becoming babyfaces reminds of the Midnight Express turning babyface near the end of their WCW run. ME would fall for the same sneak attacks and double team tactic they used night-in/night-out at heels. Even as a kid, it'd bug me that Stan would come in to argue with the ref so the heels could double-team Bobby and work him over while the ref had his back turned. They'd only used that same trick a 1,000 times or 2 when they were heels. You think they'd know why better. It doesn't help that all four members of UE are better heels than faces, imo. Or that I don't care a bit about 1-2-MacAfee. At least they brought Dunne in. That'll get me to watch.
  21. Apparently, “next fiscal year” will probably mean sometime between April and September.
  22. Sony said this week that their goal is to sell 7.6 million units by March, so preorders are probably in the range of 3-5 million? I’m guessing. I’m actually quite curious about how many per-orders they’ve actually gotten (and how many they’ll actually fill). I’m really curious about sales figures for titles available for both generations. One the one hand, you want to show off the power of the next gen console. On the other hand, the user base is going to be kinda small initially compared to the number of PS4:Xbox One users out there, so it makes business sense to develop a game that looks good and run well on current gen hardware. I’m guessing some launch titles will sell better for current gen? I wonder how many people are going to buy a PS5 in a year or two and come back to launch games? I would, but I dunno if that’s typical or not. People will have moved on from Cyberpunk and AC Valhalla by then. I’m expecting to play the Pathless and Miles Morales on PS4 in a couple weeks, so if they mail in the PS4 versions because they’re too busy optimizing the P5 release, I’m going to be irritated. It must really suck to be a game designer right now.
  23. Am I crazy or does she look like Lois Griffin (the Family Guy character) in Kiss makeup?
  24. Well, CD Projekt Red is just saying "We need more time for testing" unless they've put out a statement since last night that I haven't seen. But, yeah, the rumor is problems with current-gen versions. And, they're probably true. The same rumors were around early in the year when the game was postponed from spring to fall. So that's probably the cause. Makes me a little nervous about Miles Morales and the Pathless, both of which I'm expecting to play on PS4 first and re-buy later for PS5 (or free upgrade; whichever). Although both of those games should be able to run fine on PS4. I mean, Miles Morales is glorified dlc and the Pathless shouldn' t need PS5 except maybe to run at 60 fps. I don't really care about ray tracing or zero load times or whatever. Just want good versions of the games to play in mid-November. Fortunately, I'm usually more interested in indie games, so I won't be put out if I have to wait to play AC: Creed, Watchdog Legions, etc. on next gen. I dunno that I'll get around to Cyberpunk any time in the next year or so regardless.
