Would be like dropping a nuclear bomb on the AEW women’s locker room morale, probably.

Quite possibly.  That said, I think Charlotte ends up in AEW eventually.  Meltzer says there are people in the company who want to sign her if she becomes available.  And Andrade is supposedly pushing hard for AEW to bring in all his “family” (Rush, Dragon Lee, both Flairs, etc.).  I’m guessing she doesn’t have enough baggage yet to keep her from being signed.  And, she’s a Flair.  I doubt she’s working a backstage diva gimmick to try to force her way out of her contract, but it wouldn’t be that surprising either.

  2. Meltzer says WWE wants to discipline Charlotte for her dustup with Becky after Friday’s show, but is reluctant to because they typically don’t discipline talent for tantrums and bad backstage behavior.  Apparently, Vince doesn’t want to set a precedent he can be called out on later.

I assume he doesn’t want to be out in a position of having to discipline Roman or Drew or whoever the next time they throw a fit over booking and don’t want to do a job.  It reminds me of Orton getting popped for a wellness violation years ago and Dave saying something along the lines of “well, they could have saved him like they is usually do for the top guys, but Paul and Vince don’t like Orton’s attitude, so they’re hoping this teaches him a lesson.”

Now I’m really curious who gets to skate on what backstage.  I imagine the other side of the equation is that they don’t want to alienate Charlotte and push her more towards AEW until they definitely decide releasing her is the way to go.  Dave seems to think that just “giving” her to AElW is a possibility, though it doesn’t seem like we’re at that point yet.

Wasn't Bischoff's wife in Playboy or something?

I remember during the MNW, a few internet wierdos had a strange obsession with DDP and Bischoff doing wife swaps.

She wasn't a Playmate, but she was briefly a Playboy Special Edition model and appeared nude in one of the 2005 newsstand Special Editions.

  4. I'm rooting for Atlanta because I grew up watching Braves baseball on TBS, but Houston winning would be a good story on several levels.  Dusty finally winning the big one (as a manager), Houston proving it can win without trash cans, etc.

Plus, a Houston win will annoy a lot of the haters, and that's probably not a bad thing.

As far as Jungle Boy vs The Elite, you're supposed to be exasperated that they keep beating him up. It's build to him getting a bigtime win when the odds aren't stacked against him, innit?

This is where I think the angle is going.  I'm not entirely convinced it will get there, though.  We've seen this angle go sideways plenty of times over the years when someone in creative gets cold feet or the heel uses his "backstage powarz" to get the finish changed.  Or, worse, the angle goes off as intended, but the babyface got beaten down and jobbed out so many times en route to his big revenge win that the crowd no longer cares.   We'll see.  Meltzer has claimed that the long-term plan for Jungle Boy has always been to push him hard, but they apparently decided to hold off that until they got crowds back, and now the window of opportunity may have passed.  Hopefully not, though.

  6. Have mixed feelings about Injustice.  The first 50 min moved briskly and held my interest.  The script is handicapped by having far too much source material for an 80 min movie, but that's to be expected.  A lot of good character moments either got cut out or hotshotted so it feels dumbed down at times.

The last 25 min annoyed me more than anything.  Without giving too much away, there's a good old-fashioned superhero teamup followed by a surprisingly upbeat ending.

I'd say it's worth a watch, but anyone coming for a faithful adaptation of the comics/games is probably going to be disappointed.  The last third of the movie is basically its own thing and wraps the conflict up very neatly with no hope for a sequel.

  7. Eh, you could be right.  Then again, you're making a lot of blanket assumptions so you could just as easily be wrong.  I dunno that Warner Bros. deserves much benefit of the doubt in regards to the accident.  It's not too hard to think they pressured her back to the set.  I'm much more curious about her throwing her costars under the bus.  But whatever, not my problem.

Whatever Rose did on set is nothing compared to a stunt person being paralyzed and another horrifically burned.

It seems like her coworkers feel differently.  Since they've actually met her and we haven't, maybe their opinions should be given more weight.

So you think whatever happened on the set was intentional?  'Cause I'm kind of assuming whatever happened was an accident.  And, actually, besides "someone got hurt", I have no idea what happened.

Ok,  I'm bored,  who is the biggest snub from the top 75 list?

Robert Parrish is on the list and Dwight Howard is not,  and Howard is just plain the better player. Apparently,  they didn't grandfather in the top 50,  even though they all made it,  but that is probably my biggest omission.

Chris Bosh should be there too. He gets a lot of shit,  but pretty much everyone who knows anything about NBA defense says that he's the absolute best pick and roll defender of all time.

Caught a bit of the Dan Patrick show earlier and someone opined that Howard would have a better case for inclusion if he had retired at 29 or 30.  I can see that.  I mostly feel like, if I'm voting for the top 75 EVER - and think how much ground that covers - I'm giving a little less weight to a guy who has played for eight different teams in the past 10 seasons.  All other things being somewhat equal, or course.  Howard's not even 36.  Most of those ten years could have been his prime.

By contrast, Parrish put up good-to-great numbers until age 40 while mostly playing on a team that could have been fairly successful without him putting up those numbers.  I mean, "let's throw the ball to Larry Bird and let him shoot instead of Chief" isn't an awful game plan.  Besides the difficulty comparing different eras, I think it's fair to say there were also differing expectations for Parish and Howard.  Parish was important to the Celtics success, but no one ever expected him to be "the man".  Howard should have been the core of someone's team.  Instead, he spent his late 20's and early 30's doing a whistlestop tour of the league.

All that said, yeah, Howard's one of the bigger omissions.  I don't have much of an opinion on who should be on the team or not beyond the obvious suspects and wouldn't have thought much of it if he had made the list.

I really don't need to add to my backlog, but... fuck it. What's the general consensus on the Outlast games, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Thief? All 5 of those combined are only like $30, with Thief only being like $1.99.

On the Xbox side of things, I'm considering the Silent Hill HD Collection.

RE 2 Remake is great.  Retains best elements of original version, with a bit of a new spin on things and next-gen graphics.  I really enjoyed it and reviews were positive.  Made a lot of "best of the year" lists, as I recall.

I'd give Thief a mild recommendation, but it's nothing I'd suggest going out of your way for.  I picked it up because I'm a big fan of Eidos Montreal's other games (the Deus Ex reboot titles and Shadow of the Tomb Raider) and it's weaker than those titles.  Interesting art direction & world-building, but the gameplay is fairly average & the story is thin.  You've probably played other, better stealth-action games.  It's probably worth the money if you're a fan of the studio or the early 2000 Thief titles, but you probably have better games in your backlog pile.

Outlast has never been on my radar, so I know nothing about it/them.

If they haven’t figured out how to guarantee safety with prop guns after over a century of using them in film productions, then we’ll have to settle for CGI.

Or recognize that accidents happen?  You can't child-proof everything.  Brandon Lee died 28 years ago.  Lot of stunts been done with prop guns since then.

To the surprise of no one - Nick Rolovich is suing Washington State for wrongful termination

The twist is - the crux of of his argument is he was a victim of "discriminatory and vindictive behavior" from the AD. He is claiming that the AD decided to fire him in April which was 4 months before the state put in place the vaccine requirement for all state employees.

Also his lawyer admitted that Rolovich's religious exemption claim was that because Rolovich was a "devout Catholic" he couldn't get the vaccine.

That sure as fuck is news to this devout Catholic.

This is funny because.... the AD did not fire hm.  Maybe the AD wanted to, but if that was a litigable offense, I'd be sued regularly.

My 80-year-old mom is a devout Roman Catholic.  She did research, emailed the bishop, and talked to several priests and Catholic scholars before she felt confident the church was fine with being vaccinated.  She probably didn't need that many opinions, but her sister is an even more devout Catholic who has come with a couple bs religious reasons not to get vaccinated, so......  No one told my mom the church would have an issue or even suggested it.  Mom's one of those unreasonable mass-seven-days-a-week Catholics, so if it passes her tests, it should pass anyone's.

I'm actually kinda worried about my Mom's reaction (think: Fred Sanford heart attack skit) if she ever finds out the wife and I stopped going to church or practicing our religion.  It's not a secret, but everyone it taking great pains not to tell my parents.

  13. Seagate announced a smaller/cheaper SSD expansion card for Xbox Series X, S.  New card is 512 mb and will retail for $139.99 (by comparison, 1 TB card has a msrp of $199.99).  Pre-orders are supposed to open today at Wal-mart (card will also be available from Target, Amazon, and any other retail that carries Seagate products).

Seagate also announced a 2 TB expansion card that will retail for $399.99.  Preorders for that one will begin in November.  Sigh.  Guess I might have a used 1 tb card for sale after the 2 TB gets delivered to my address, in case anyone is interested.

Modertately surprising to WB to hit back strongly, rather than just no comment on it.

… unless it really is “revisionist history”, as Warner said.  Pretty much everyone involved is pushing back strongly and aggressively against her comments.

Her version of events feels off to me; so I’m not taking her comments at face value unless someone or something corroborates.
