  1. 6-2 at the bye week is wayyyyy better than anyone could have expected for The Giants. And this team is not even a particularly talented team. Just very well coached. But when you have a few too many mistake ain't no way this team can dig out. Richie James with two sloppy fumbles on punts sealed the deal. But man where did this Geno come from? Spends almost a decade being a backup and now all of a sudden he's like better than half the QBs in the league?

Stupid sexy NFC East and their stupid sexy teams. No losing teams in The NFC East as of right now. 6-2 is good enough for..... third place.... for The Giants? Annoying.

  2. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Muta is in this year's Rumble. Perfect surprise kind of appearance. Triple H already did the 'get one in before it's too late' thing with Liger in NXT. Muta retires at the end of February. If they want a Great Muta WWE appearance it's the literal last chance. And I think this news makes it even more likely. Nak goes over in NOAH. Muta shows up and eliminates him from The Rumble to a big pop.

She could get a five year run out of being a zany comedy face instead of a burnt out sunglasses heel.

I was soooo bummed she didn't pop up doing the goofy dancing gimmick. The dichotomy of zany dancing Emma vs all the serious ass kickers in the women's division these days would be good stuff. You literally could have reset her back to square one like she was in NXT and earn the character arch again now that most people had forgotten about her.

  4. I know you hate me but I'm gonna do you a solid and give you advice.

Stop being so petty about this. You were paintedbynumbers. Now you're Pedro. It's not a secret. The mods haven't banned you again, not because they don't know, but because they don't care. If you stop fighting posters about it and let it go everything is gonna be fine. They would have banned you by now if they planned on doing it. Don't give them a reason to. Go back to posting thoughts and opinions like the rest of us and quit fighting the tide. Let it wash over you.

AKA don't be a weirdo this time and there won't be a reason to be banned.

  5. A 3 & a 6 for last year's 1st round pick at the beginning of this season would have annoyed me to no end. But I have a lot of faith in Schoen & Daboll after how motivated they have this team. They have some leeway with me that McAdoo & Pat Shurmur & Joe Judge would never get. If they didn't see anything changing with Toney's attitude, then it's a good trade (for both parties).

Load up on picks next year from a (presumably) better scouting apparatus for The Giants. And for KC they get another fast body to fill in for cheap money. Win / win.

  6. I know it all tends to be considered one thing. Shooting in the sense you try to fight a guy for real / hurt him. And we all agree that doesn't sound like a Hangman thing at all. But there's other shitty types of shooting. I don't think page would trying wrestle him down into holds and stretch him or fight him for real. But he could have shot on him the HBK / Hogan Summerslam 2005 kind of way. While that doesn't hurt Punk physically, it would hurt Punk emotionally / his standing in the eyes of the fans.

I get the sense Punk wouldn't give a fuck about being stiffed or beat up. But you make him look bad or "mess with his money" in that sense, he would be heated. So let's add that bit of contexts to the comment released by his camp. Hangman is boys with the EVPs just like HBK was boys with Vince. He certainly *could have* gotten away with doing that. So I don't think it's a 100% unfounded thought (especially coming after what Punk felt like a verbal comment that did the same).

From my perspective that was still superrrr unlikely. Just doesn't seem like Hangman's style. He likes to have fun on BTE and what-not but dude seems pretty professional and straight laced "on the job." But still, that context matters a little to what Punk's side said.

  7. Since it happened, and even more so now getting the detail that the door hit Larry, I'm of the opinion that it's an Everyone Is An Asshole situation. None of them are really in the right. It's all pettiness and asshole over reactions. The only detail that emerged that made anyone sound likable is Kenny removing Larry from the room to get him away from the altercation. But then hit got bit by a grown ass man for doing it.

I think the writing is on the wall for how it is gonna ultimately shake out. But if it's me, I get rid of Steel. I keep everyone else and say knock it the fuck off. You don't have to work this into an on air angle, you don't have to like each other, but stay the fuck to yourselves and let's all just make money while being on the same team. But everyone is on zero tolerance. No more unscripted promo call outs. No more media scrum bullshit. No more confronting people at 1am with wives and dogs in the room. Grow the fuck up and let it go.

But yeah anyways, which podcast is getting the secret Thanksgiving day rant episode this year? Renee? Busted Open Radio? The Majors Figure Guys?

Cody's last 5 years: coasted in on goodwill of "fuck HHH", started getting booed because he was acting like HHH, aligned himself with his dead father's real-life friend Arn Anderson on-camera leading to more boos since Arn has always been a heel, literally said "I will not turn heel" on-camera, became star of a reality show where the other EVP's wouldn't allow their likenesses used on camera, left AEW and cut a promo on RAW to no reaction about how his father had a picture in his bedroom holding the WWE title after winning a match by countout, explained in said promo that his character's motivation is to avenge his father being "robbed" of the title because young Cody was too dumb to understand that titles don't change hands outside of pinfalls and submission

Cody's a superhero in his mind, but the way he stretches stories to try and make people care is very, very bad - the racism promo never should have made TV and there's no way he would have explained that promo beforehand to Paul Heyman and not had Heyman intervene to restructure it

I literally don't disagree with anything you've typed here. Pretty spot on in regards to Cody. But one performer's failure to convert his character to a compelling on screen presentation doesn't mean all wrestlers should be shoe-horned into word for word scripted promos.

I do contend that if Cody was savy enough to be in on the meta commentary he was presenting on air, all it would have taken was for him to flip the switch hard ONCE to really convert that character into a super over heel that would have been very compelling. A Hogan-esque 'I tried to be the good guy brother but it's you guys that turned on me. You can all stick it.' deal would have been great. Bonus points for going back on his word and winning the World Title during that.

The racism promo was dog shit. The Ogogo feud was terrible. But I don't think that made Cody irredeemable. He was just in a rut. One that he could have dug himself out of.

  9. The truth is there's a happy medium. Collaboration is key. Having a "booker" / "show runner" / "writer" to plot out the stories and make all the archs conclude in satisfying ways makes a ton of sense. But as far as putting the dialogue in a character's mouth, there's always going to be higher highs letting the talent put the paint on the canvas in the wrestling business. Compare The Ring Master promos to Stone Cold promos. One was heavily influenced by the talent, the other was heavily influenced by the office. I don't think I have to say too much more after that.

    Not sure if serious?

That's what pro wrestling has always been (except for this overly scripted era of WWE the last 20 years). Writers weren't handing Hogan or Piper or Flair pages and pages of dialogue using ridiculous approved words only. Wrestling is for sure an art form. But it's not quite like Hollywood where the writers create the characters and know the arcs and the actors just go out and perform it. At it's core wrestling is about the artist creating the character and bringing him / her to life off the page themself. Who do you think understands the character of Raven more, Scott Levy or a writer like Freddie Prinze?

You may have just been being facetious and I didn't pick up on it. So apologies if that's the case. But if that was a sincere comment, you're off the mark by a few hundred thousand miles.

It's way early, but Daboll has to be in the lead for Coach of the Year, yes?

I can't think of any coach that's done more with less. The Giants are suiting up practice squad wide receivers and still getting it done. They get out-thrown. They get out-run. But they don't get out-coached. This is a 1980s team in disguise. The New York motherfucking Giants are 5-1! But still in 3rd place at best at the end of tonight lol.

It was both.  That was a genuine heartfelt promo from a guy who obviously went through it over the past year and then it ended with an "angle" so he got to sincerely say thank you to fans while not killing the mystique of what he was trying to do.

I'm happy you enjoyed it. Not everything clicks for everyone, it's a cool feeling when something does click for you.

In my opinion tho, that was 3000% just him working. Here's how I determined that. Does Windham Rotunda speak like a cartoon cat? No he's a normal man with a normal speaking pattern. Was Bray speaking like a cartoon cat last night? 100%. Dude was doing weird pauses and odd noises between the pauses and speaking like a cartoon cat that lives on Bourbon st.

I've always liked Bray. Even in the ring. (Minus the no-sell Fiend phase). So I don't want it to sound like I'm critiquing out of dislike. I liked the Wyatt Family. I liked his work as cult Bray in ring. I loved the Fiend's entrance and presentation. I liked that debut squash against Balor before he went all no-sell Jones on everything. That promo just didn't hit for me. But I'm still open to good things possibly coming from it. He's creative AF.

  13. I will admit my opinion is shaded by the fact I was hoping for a variation of cult Bray back so I'm a bit disappointed. But isn't this just a new coat of paint on the same basic Fiend split personality character?

Harmless kids show Bray / scary monster mask Bray. Shucks gee golly "real" Bray / new horror mask Bray.

I will give it some time until I really formulate a solid opinion on it. But just seems like a new presentation for the same basic narrative.

Yeah, the Tomatometer for Halloween Ends is not looking good right now.   I'll watch it on Peacock when it debuts just for the sake of closure.

It went up on Peacock last night at 8PM. They did the same day / date release for this one. I think they knew they had a stinker and wanted to mitigate fan frustration. Hard to be too mad if you're seeing it for free in your home like I did. But I was astonished at some of the choices they made for the story. It's not what I was expecting narrative wise for the conclusion of a trilogy focused on Laurie & Michael.

The general audience didn't hate that stuff about Bray. The only things I can think of them actively turning against were the FIend/Rollins cell match (and who wouldn't, with that booking and finish?) and maybe the Orton match with the bugs projected on the map.

The fans were always behind Bray more than the bookers were. Swamp cult leader Bray, Firefly Funhouse Bray, Fiend Bray - he was always over and moved merch. Then the bookers would have him lose the big one and he'd have to rebound. And he would.

In ring he's fine. He's not going to do 450s or quebradoras, but he's a good big guy with surprising quickness.

To add to that, I personally am always irrationally angry when they blast the ring with colored lights for a whole match. When they had all of The Fiend's matches in that red lighting making it so god damn hard to see, it enhanced the negative that was that shit sandwich booking. For real, especially in HD, that mood lighting always sucks. Kane. Sin Cara. The Fiend. There's a lot of times WWE gets too over bearing on the production stuff.

So you got the red Target shopping cart cell, Fiend no selling 50 curb stomps, the phony giant rubber mallet, the ring just blasted with 6,000 watt red lights to the point of making it almost unwatchable, then the DQ in a non-DQ-able match. It really was the ultimate perfect storm of shit that demonstrates the absolute worst of every aspect of what WWE can be under Vince & Dunn. That's what turned at least the online fans. That match was putrid and killed everyone involved dead for awhile. No one came out looking good. Then they just did the title switch a week or two later in Saudi. Just the worst.

  16. Daboll is the greatest coach of our generation! Idk how they pulled it off but they did it! I don't expect The Giants to be world beaters but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they aren't the dumb team that does dumb things anymore. Kill time with taking fake knees? Safe & effective. Punter run around and draining the clock before taking the safety? Safe & effective.

This was the 123 Kid vs Razor of enhancement matches apparently lol.

Also no one in Engalnd knows how clocks work? Clocks are to the English as Magnets are to Juggalos?

  17. I just disagree that it's a performer problem. I see it as a presentation problem. In ring Ronda is fine and capable of having quite good matches. You yourself listed about 40% of the women's roster she works well with. They stopped booking her as special and different. They started booking her like any other women and that was a mistake. She doesn't need nxt. She needs better booking.

I don't know if you've met many millionaires but they don't exactly volunteer for humbling lol. She made bank in MMA. She didn't come to WWE to work the coconut loop and remember what it was like to have to share a tiny apartment with a room mate and eat tuna. She came in as a proven sports draw. She doesn't have to play by the same set of rules as everyone else. That's just life. I'm not even advocating that it's right or fair, I just think it's obtuse to not understand and accept it.

What really put her in a hole are her shitty commentaries on politics and what-not outside of wrestling. You can't pay me enough to cheer on a Sandy Hook truther / all the other garbage she spouts. Wrestling fans lean more socially conscious, so that is going to turn off a whole bunch of us. And that's the real problem and disconnect with why the audience treats her different (in my opinion).

Is it though? Every time I see Rousey on TV, the crowd looks fucking dead. They have to pip in crowd noise when she does her terrible barely above monotone promos. Jumpin' Jeff Farmer would get a better reaction and give a better promo than she does.

Having her win the third match and the title just because when you have a wrestler who is barely adequate isn't the right move. HHH (and WWE) should face facts with Rousey and send her to NXT to work on her material/personality/presence. If she doesn't like it and wants to complain on Twitter or goes to NXT and complains about having to be there on TV, well sitting at home works too.

Her promos are wooden and she is not good delivering scripted verbiage. But to suggest she should (or would) go to nxt to work on anything is just a straight bonkers suggestion lol. She makes the most money of any women in the company. She hasn't amounted to a needle mover in wrestling but she is a legitimate mainstream big deal. At one point she was the female equivalent to Mike Tyson in the 90s. She's not wasting one second in the developmental minor leagues. Just like Mike Tyson wouldn't have if he came in back in 1998. Or maybe a better comparison is Ken Shamrock... who also never spent a second in Memphis.

Regardless, I agree with the opinion there are things she's not good at. But you don't send her to nxt. You just book away from that shit. Why does she need to do long monologues? Not everyone has to be all theatrics all the time. You just pivot. Let her be the short and sweet I'm gonna fuck you up silent killer for awhile. Let her go back to being what she was when she came in. The Ronda that teamed with Kurt. The Ronda that had bangers with Sasha & Bayley. The Ronda that was a big deal in UFC.

But send her to nxt? Wtf lol.
