  1. Rush vs Danielson was fucking good. Hope The Bunny is okay. That T Bone timing was off and Hater landed full force on her face. Honestly surprised they let Hayter pick her up and hit that Lariat. At least she took care of her on it and hopefully didn't make the possible concussion any worse. Gunns getting the tag belts is fine if it's a short bump in the road. Whether they drop them back to The Acclaimed at the ppv, or to FTR right after it's fine. But they don't have as much heat as they're booked to have.
  2. No not at all. Sorry that wasn't clear. I'm just advocating for using season 2 to fill in the gaps between the end of game 1 and Joel's death. His death needs to happen for the sake of the story. I'm just in the camp that thinks doing it in ep 1 or 2 of the second season is a bit too soon for TV. I trust this team to flesh out the rift between Ellie & Joel that was largely only alluded to in the beginning of game 2, and maybe even show her journey back to the hospital to discover the truth for herself. There's no rush is my point. We can do some world building and flesh out the things that were in between game 1 & 2 and only shown in brief flashbacks. Other wise we're gonna have a 5 year wait between season 2 & season 3. Druckman already said they won't let the show surpass the game timeline.
  3. The joke is not lost on me lol, but killing one of 15 main characters is apples and oranges to killing one of 2 main characters. At the end of game 1 there's basically only 3 people left. And Tommy is a background character at best. GOT had all of The Starks, The Lannisters, etc. Killing one person of a family isn't the same as killing one of a duo. But I digress.
  4. If they stick to that, and also stick to Druckman saying the show will never speed ahead of the source materials, guess pencil season 3 in for 2027? Game 3 is in the works now. We'll be lucky if it releases by 2025 or 2026. The second game has 10x more material than the first game had. And they left a lot of meat on the bone that could be fleshed out in a show. Joel dying in S2 E1 or E2 is going to be some bullshit too.
  5. Im thinking (if this keeps getting renewed), season 2 will be the fallout of game one that mostly got glossed over / the flashback treatment. Then game two could almost be broken up into 3 separate seasons based on the three acts. Season 3 would be act one and ends on that big death. Season 4 could end on the first encounter where Abby lets her go. Season 5 could end with the second encounter where Ellie lets her go. Then if its still going in Season 6, game three will be out to adapt. You'd get 3 seasons before the big death and that wouldn't feel rushed or too soon whereas 3 or 4 episodes into season2 is wayyyy too soon.
  6. I don't disagree that they'll be over paying Jones. But let's at least mention that Richie James, Isiah Hodges, & Darius Slayton is probably a bottom 5 receiver core. The Giants offensive success this year was based on scheme and Jones & Barkley dragging the rest of the team along for the ride by sheer force of will. Jones might be as good as those year one numbers show if he had the year one receiving group again. Or maybe not. But downing his play based solely on numbers doesn't tell the full story.
  7. I'm one of the most critical people on here in regards to the WWE product. But this is hard to ignore. They literally made more money this year than any year before it. Even adjusted for inflation it's still number one. I may not like it, but they know what they're doing. Over a billion dollars in revenue. Over 200 million in pure profit. WWE is fail proof.
  8. This is a bad take. No disrespect meant, but Joe is not washed / injury prone. He's been in AEW for almost a year now. He's only taken time off for movie projects. He's had a lot of high end, high impact matches. And he's looked great in my opinion. This is one of those instances where the way AEW books plays to certain talent's strengths. Joe doesn't need to be in 52 TV matches a year. He loses his aura if he's out there doing 50-50 15 minute TV matches every week. It also saves his body. As for the booking, again respectfully disagree. I find it one of the best things they've done. Darby got an awesome moment in his hometown. We got 6 or 7 really awesome TNT Title matches, counting the 2 with Joe. It got Darby back on our screens. It gave Wardlow time to heal up. It gave the him & Joe story time to breathe. It gave Joe a reason to get a mean streak and level up a notch. Now when Wardlow beats him at the ppv for it (if that's the way they go), he is better off than he was when Joe initially won the title. It's booking that made everyone involved better off. Darby may have lost the title, but his character can't be an underdog if he never loses. Not everyone can nor should be booked like Super Cena. It's perfectly within the bonds of that character for his body to give out from accumulated damage from all his psycho stunts. He loses nothing losing it back to Joe. And finally, the world title is always going to have long reigns (by way of the title being defended so rarely). It makes total sense to have a secondary title contrast that by changing a lot, because it's defended a lot more.
  9. I also think there's a fair to mid chance they are doing a full on reboot. They just don't want to say that. Especially with The Flash & Shazam not out yet. While yes they say Waller is part of the new canon, notice how they talk about Blue Beetle. If The Flash really "resets" everything, then why are they talking about Blue Beetle in terms of it's great that this didn't have any tie ins and we can just make it part of The New DCU? I think we're getting a hard reboot that just has some characters recast by the same actor. Waller is Viola Davis. But it's not the same Waller we've seen. It's a rebooted one. Just played by the same actor. Like Dare Devil in Marvel. Or Electro in No Way Home. Same actor playing the character, but technically new character. I guess we'll see. My assumption could be wrong. But the tell to me is how they talk about Blue Beetle.
  10. I have nothing constructive to add to the Jalen Hurts debate. All I'm gonna say is I can't in good conscious get behind a QB that squats that low in shotgun snaps. He's drunk woman peeing in an alley low. I just don't like it. He's not for me.
  11. Its not what I expected. There are some names there I'm not familiar with. But I like Gunn's work, and honestly the direction the explanations point to sound pretty good. So I'm down to go in with an open mind. I loved The Batman. But I think The Brave & The Bold is really interesting. Finally getting a more comic accurate Robin, albeit jumping past the previous Robins. All I ask is to come up with 3 distinct logos different enough to separate DC Elseworlds, the prior DCEU that is sticking around, and the new DCU. I get that The Flash is set to "reboot" The DCU or however they are wording it. But that sounds like Hollywood speak for go see these DCEU movies that are coming out, we promise they still count even tho you know they don't. Like how can a Waller show that is part of Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad & Peacemaker lore jive with the new DCU? I think realistically this alludes to them having their cake and eating it too. Keeping some of the previous DCEU that they still like, and rebooting and doing a new separate DCU. At the same time. Basically juggling 3 universes for the purpose of big multiverse stuff 3 or 4 chapters down the line.
  12. One thing to consider with Ibushi, wonder if AEW using him would rock the boat with the New Japan partnership. I don't think it would, but it's possible New Japan is not happy with Ibushi bringing negative light to their name and would rather their partners not use him. Hope that's not the case. Some Ibushi matches in AEW would be great.
  13. Is it too much to ask to rip off No Way Out 2003 exactly? Since we're getting Sami vs Reigns here reportedly, let's get a Rock run in to allow the shocking hometown title win no one sees coming. Just like Brock / Eddie / Goldberg. Leads to a weird Sami vs Cody WM match and a non title Rock vs Roman match. Since this ain't happening, crowd is going to be furious when Sami loses and gets shuffled to a tag title match at Mania.
  14. In a morbid kind of way I would find it hilarious if we go full circle and Reigns is on the other side of the fan revolt reaction. Instead of getting booed for being the replacement fans don't want, he's the one dropping the title to the replacement fans don't want. I think The Bloodline angle is awesome. But I don't think Sami is Bryan & Cody is Batista here if we're talking WM30 scenario. Cody is legitimately over with WWE fans. At worst if they go with him they'll be small smatterings of Sami chants. I mean if this was full blown history repeating it's self Cody would have been booed at number 30 when Sami didn't come out. That didn't happen. And no matter how the angle continues I don't think it's very likely the fans revolt on Cody like that.
  15. I get the Purdy is injured. He has limited to no feeling in his fingers. I get why he's not throwing. But you can't cycle in CMC or Debo on a Wildcat play here an there and at least tease the possibility of a throw? Seems like Kyle gave up the second Josh Johnson got taken out and he's just running the clock out. Frustrating. I HATE Nick Siriani. There's something about his demeanor I can't stand. Also trying to rush out there and go for 2 up two TDs? That's some Madden player troll shit.
  16. I tend to agree that they won't pull the trigger on Sami. But the bolded part, does every single storyline or feud have to end with the good guy winning? The point of the story & feud is compelling TV. Thy hv a billion hours of TV a week. Having something compelling that pretty much everyone agrees is a lot of fun to see unfolding is the point. There's a number of ways to go with it. But not every story has to have the same destination for it to be considered a successful journey.
  17. But if he gets a call that he now owns The Atlanta Braves, TBS, TNT & gets the rights to revive WCW he better be able to take it. Or he got terrible advice by someone. See I can also throw out random things that have no chance of happening lol. I still contend he isn't even a blip on the WWE radar. So the anger you have seems really misplaced from my perspective. Even tho he has potential to be really good, he's still just an indy kid from Portland right now. WWE would never offer him more than NXT minimum. It's not how their business model works. So being mad about a hypothetical that has no chance of occurring is a bit confusing to me. I hope the kid becomes a giant star and proves you right in believing in him tho.
  18. You're getting hung up on the not getting paid thing. He's not getting paid but he's also not doing any work yet. Think of it more as an agreement to start work once school is done. I think the word contract is just throwing you off a bit. It's like when a high school athlete pledges to play for a certain college. They still have to finish high school before they're allowed to enter college and play. In a lot of ways it's more of just a PR thing until he's eligible to start going to work than anything.
  19. I dont know. There's a million ways to go with this. But what I think makes the most sense with the way they tend to book is this. They make Reigns defend the titles separately each night of Mania. They've already kind of started plating the seeds for this with The Usos defending the tags separately. Night 1 he defends the Universal against Sami. The match everyone wants. But Reigns retains. People won't be happy about it. But that's not that important long term. Night 2 he defends the WWE Title against Cody. Cody wins. You get that big WM babyface win. Cody gets the rub of being the first one to pin Reigns in 5 years. He gets the title he's been talking about in promos. That story gets a happy ending. But Reigns' giant Universal Title reign continues since he retained against Sami. He still has another rub to give to the person who takes that title from him. Kind of getting to play both sides with the booking. I almost see Reigns holding The Universal Title for another year or two. He won't be Bruno's or Backlund's records, but I think he ends up third place ahead of Pedro & Hogan.
  20. WWE are very not indy focused these days tho. I'm not saying they will never sign people with independent experience, but the whole re-imagining of developmental is to go after college athletes. I say all that to say, there is absolutely no shot they offer any 18 year old indy kid more than the NXT minimum. There's absolutely no shot they give him any special treatment. He doesn't keep his name. He doesn't get more money. He's starting from scratch in their developmental system. He doesn't have the look or pedigree they're going after currently. I'm not saying they would definitely not sign him. They may see potential and sign him. But he'd be starting as low man on to totem pole, with no special treatment. In AEW he already has a bond formed with one of their stars and a built in story. He would be seen as an equal getting a normal roster spot. Probably mostly matches on Dark & Elevation first. But he keeps his name and gets to start working up the ladder day one as opposed to having to be in developmental for years. I get that you've seen his work and see a very high ceiling. You also see him as someone special. All of that may be true. But that's not at all how WWE does business in the 2020s. They don't go after young independent kids. You either have to be someone like Dragon Lee who has a long career with a proven track record, or you have to be a college athlete that they build from the ground up.
  21. Look at a similar sized guy like Mark Andrews. Or any other Cruiserweight they signed from 2016. How many of them got to contribute to the WWE product in a meaningful way? Money is money. But sometimes there's things more important than money. Creative freedom and artist expression are big selling points to being a pro wrestler. There's got to be a whole bunch of wrestlers who would rather work where they can do their thing their way than the WWE way. Plus he's boys with Darby. His dad trained Darby. Look how well AEW has used Darby. If you're Nick Wayne & looking at the track records, I'm signing with AEW 100 times out of 100. As for why signing now, AEW is locked in now. Yeah there's no money coming in now. But he doesn't have t worry about the landscape changing or the business having a massive shift that wold make it harder to get signed or 10 other guys just like him coming along and taking up all those opportunities. If you're in high school and you gt offered your dream job for when you turn 18 why WOULDN'T you jump on it and lock it in ASAP?
  22. Huh? Ospreay wrestles for New Japan. Action Andretti wrestles for AEW. Not sure I follow. Why can't AEW have a clone of a New Japan guy? (Not that I in any way agree that Action Andretti is an Ospreay clone mind you).
  23. This is one of the most out there hills to die on just to prove a point about wrestling media. We get it you don't respect wrestling media. But this isn't a wrestling media story. Tony does promotional interviews. They have media scrums. No one is reporting what they think is happening. They're reporting on Khan's actual words said in interviews. TK wouldn't even shop around ROH as a TV product outside of WBD out of fear it could be construed as a lack of loyalty. He's not going to put the blurbs out there he has about WBD execs knowing full well if it was a lie it would piss them off. Isn't the FAR more logical possibility that there is an LGBTQ person in a WBD position of power that is familiar with the things he said in the past, took the comments very personally, and chose this as a hill to die on? When you're disassociated with the actual person or the form of entertainment he makes a living in, you could care less if he learned or grew from the mistakes he made. And if you're in a position of power, and one deeply offended to your core, you could put your foot down and not give a shit how anyone else feels about it. You're taking this stance that no one knows about wrestling but us wrestling nerds. But these execs have friends and family. These execs have twitter and the internet. You really think it's impossible for something their work is affiliated with to be brought to their attention? Like maybe a 20 year ad sales vet is LGBTQ and they got sent screenshots by friends or family about these specific. Maybe they do a few google searches or look at twitter trends just to see what's happening in these partner companies / those fields. It's crazy to me that you think it's more likely TK who is obviously very complimentary to / borderline scare of the network would make up a network boogieman to hide some weird fear of his own, than to just believe this very plausible scenario.
  24. That's such a good finish tho, just not with Hogan. Reigns gives Sami the orders that if he wins The Rumble he is out of The Bloodline and his sworn enemy. Sami is number 30 and everyone is eliminated before he even enters. He comes out and is immediately declared the winner while begging the refs not to raise his hand and having a panic attack. He had no control over it. It's not his fault. Don't kick him out of his family. Instant sympathy.
  25. You are aware he had the most interceptions in The NFL this year correct? You are also aware he missed a full SIX games due to injury and STILL took the interception crown correct? Is this a bit? Is this comedy? How could you believe he's the best in the conference lol. There's a bunch better than him in The NFC. We getting some wild takes today
