I became a fan during the "Maybe Michael Redd's knee won't fall apart this seas- Oop, there it goes" era so there's no way for the Bucks to hurt me that they haven't before.

The West Virginia point is so spot on. One of the biggest single throughlines in wrestling history is blue collar people just trying to do right for their families against priidged rich assholes who stack the odds to their advantage even more than they already have. Even still to this day when we all know it’s performance art. That resonates with who we are as wrestling fans — and especially in West Virginia, where the class divide issues are just in the background of your lives at all times.

Man, just have FTR touch on what you said before until the Bucks do something heinous in throwing their weight around. Or have the Bucks come out and act sanctimonious about having to come to this worthless hillbilly state when they should be having caviar with executives like them and you’re all going to die poor until FTR come and punch them in the face a bunch of times.

    Just give me wrestling please.

You just know that Dax has been practicing his own Hard Times promo in front of the mirror since he was like 16.

She had a match with Red Velvet where the crowd totally turned on RV, which actually ended up with her becoming a Baddie. And then she had one of maybe 3 good matches with Jade, to the point the crowd turned on Jade. Excellent match a month or so again with Skye Blue, they’re close friends and work really well together, it was probably Skye’s best singles match.

While it's obvious with hindsight that either Willow or Athena should have been the one to end Jade's streak, it was also incredibly obvious at the time.

  4. If AEW weren't cowards the heater for FTR/Bucks would be FTR telling the crowd that rich pricks like the Bucks are the reason you got laid off and you're paying $4 a dozen for eggs so we're going to beat them to death with chairs about it.  That shit would kill in West Virginia.  I didn't sit through two years of golly-gee-we're-just-good-ol-boys FTR promos for them to fumble it like this.

I saw Tanaka on the October 2023 West Coast Pro show vs Vinnie Massaro.  After the first unprotected chairshot to the head, I skipped to the next match.  If that's all you can do anymore (this goes for both guys), fuck off down the road.

I loved The State.  Nobody understands the reference when I tell them that penguins ain't natural because they're not in The Bible.  Also when I long for $240 worth of pudding.

The Ben Stiller Show was also great, speaking of early 90s sketch comedy.

Just saw these the other day:

How is TAKA these days? Used to be one of my faves back in those days...

In a similar vein, Masato Tanaka is still going strong and has visited the US a few times lately, would LOVE to see him pop up for a few AEW marches...

I haven't seen him wrestle since K-Dojo was still a thing, and while a lot of the athleticism was gone he could still go.

The Door County talk takes me back. Years ago I went to a wedding in Sturgeon Bay... Gina Schock (ex-Go-Go's) was performing with her band across the street from the reception hall, and we were going so hard that they all came over and partied with us after their show wrapped. 😃

That's funny because I was neighbors-ish with Jane Wiedlin when she lived in Madison; she lived in a fancy neighborhood and I was in the shitty apartments across the street. Our interactions were limited to saying 'hi' in the park a couple of times, though.

Went to Door County with my wife's family a couple summers ago. I wasn't really all that stoked about going there, but ended up absolutely loving it. It's such a nice area.

I've only been once when I was 15/16 and I was bored that there wasn't much to do but sit by the water.  Now I'm 42 and cannot wait to go and not do much but sit by the water.
