The Netflix documentary on We are the World is great for people who remember that period of music and time.

I'm one of those people so I enjoyed it. One thing I never realized was that Bette Midler was in this. I mean I've seen her every time I've watched the video but I think I always assumed it was Kathy Valentine from the Go-Go's. Yes, I know they look nothing alike but I'm sure I was thrown off by the hairstyle and because even teen me would have been incredulous that you had BETTE MIDLER on hand and you couldn't give her a solo spot??!! Crazy.

    Spoiler

Hell, she could have easily filled the presumptive Prince spot, even though Huey did a fine job. Enough with the MJ memes. Regarding Sheila E's story, obviously she was correct but that also means she got a lot more attention then the lesser Debarges or Jacksons that were there. Nice that it was still ultimately a positive experience for her.

  2. Yes, I also suck. I'm writing it up now but won't finish until I get home tonight. Along with a couple of bonus reviews that I may or may not finish. The good news is there are still 10 days in October. 🙂

We watched WWF Championship Wrestling on a Philly UHF station, then held the rabbit ears antenna just so to re-watch it in half-snowy quality on WOR-9 to see the different house show interview inserts, and that’s the way it was and we LIKED it!

That sounds similar to how back in the 70's we watched Mid-Atlantic while living in Florida. Except, instead of rabbit ears on top of the TV, we had a pole antenna outside the trailer that my dad would spend a good 10 minutes adjusting while we shouted out his progress through the window.

It wasn’t Ron. It’s something like this. When Ron became a heel in Knoxville, he was wearing those ornate cowboy hats and sporting a mustache and was a cocky wise cracking heel. The question is who would have seen it outside of East z Tennessee, maybe Memphis and maybe St Louis. I don’t recall if he was doing shots on TBS then.  I wouldn’t say it’s a believable theory, but one worth sharing. 😀

Ah. I was wondering if it hung on Hal Needham being from Tennessee but obviously he'd have been living and working in California decades before Fuller had even debuted. it's a theory, I suppose, but Fuller didn't invent that look and I doubt Burt Reynolds needed any inspiration to be a cocky ass.

  5. Two for me. L : Change The World early because it was bad and clearly wasn't going to drift into so-bad-its-good territory and The Mosquito Coast with 20 minutes left because by that point I was so fed up with Harrison Ford's character that I couldn't sit there another minute.
