    - Gunnar Nelson's team wants a fight with Rory MacDonald in Dublin, but MacDonald's side isn't interested

    - Bang Ludwig and Team Alpha Male are amicably splitting come May 24. The team is looking for a new head coach. A couple candidates are Robert Follis and Mark Beecher

  3. JON LOVITZ IS IN MR> BOX OFFICE!!!

My favorite part about MR. BOX OFFICE is that Gary Busey is always shown in the title segment, and I don't think I've ever seen him on the show.

I intentionally left out the actors who are being forced against their will to show up on set.

  4. BET has MR. BOX OFFICE which is amazing.

Oh god...Byron Allen. The guy who brought you the unfunny funny unfunny version of Tough Crowd. The only thing that's good about Mr. Box Office is Giselle Bonilla, who was recently on Workaholics. She is very hot, imo.

  5. He didn't star, direct, or write Peeples, so counting that as a strike against him would be like counting Man with the Iron Fist against Tarantino.

Can't believe I'm defending Tyler Perry. My left arm feels numb.

Yeah, I count that as a strike against QT in the same way I do it with Ridley Scott putting Scott Free on every fucking thing.

  6. Define "disappoint," because I'm pretty sure, through the good grace of God, ALL of his movies turn a profit.

Tyler Perry Presents Peeples (great title BTW) had a budget of $15 million. It did $9 million domestic, $130k foreign (according to Box Office Mojo),  estimated $2.5 million total in Blu-Ray/DVD sales. I ain't no fancy mathematician, but I don't think that's a profit right there.

  7. Perry has been having a rough stretch.

As an unofficial black representative, I can confidently say we're over Tyler Perry films. It's all about Scandal now, which is funny since he has his version of the show on OWN. It's the highest rated show on the network.

  8.

Yes, there is a joke in my family about how Chadwick Boseman, Terrence Howard, and Denzel Washington will eventually play every famous black man ever in history between the three actors.

Boseman will be filmed in green screen debating himself if there ever is a WEB DuBois / Booker T Washington movie. Either that or Denzel will play one of the roles. Howard won't be considered because he will ask for too much money.

Jeff Wright has to be up there: Basquiat, MLK, Howard Bingham, Colin Powell, Muddy Waters, and Bobby Seale. In addition, Valentin Narcisse from Boardwalk Empire is based on W.E.B. DuBois (although the UNIA affiliation would be Garvey). Just get him to do it.

How can you two forget about Leon?? He portrayed David Ruffin and Little Richard.  He would (should) have been nominated for an Oscar for that David Ruffin portrayal if The Temptations wasn't a TV movie.  "AIN'T NOBODY COMING TO SEE YOU, OTIS!" is still one of my favorite movie lines of all time.

Yeah, he is basically the only reason to watch that long fucking movie now. That and the "Papa was a Rolling Stone" sequence. "My name is David Ruffin.... and THESE are the Temptations" is one of the top 10 movie dick moments of all time.

Since we're on the topic, both Ruffin and James Brown dated Tammi Terrell. Both beat the living shit out of Tammi Terrell. The Temps movie touched on that. I wonder if they do that with the James Brown movie since it's a major feature film.

  9. Yes, there is a joke in my family about how Chadwick Boseman, Terrence Howard, and Denzel Washington will eventually play every famous black man ever in history between the three actors.

  10. At first I sort of imagined Lydia being talked into it similar to the way Skylar got nudged into committing major tax fraud on Ted's behalf.  No way she's looking to become a criminal, but when someone asks you for help...and maybe in Lydia's case points out that "this is how business is done in the real world, and if you can't handle it then you're not cut out...go home and play nanny or something.  Maybe teach preschool or be a waitress." that would be enough to convince her to get started...just fudging some documents on some shipments.  People fall for that "House of Cards" logic all the time.

That's maybe how it started and that's pretty believable to me.  I mean, when we first met Gus, he was a great character and all, but there could be a similar "There's no reason for a guy like that to somehow become a drug kingpin" until we got some of his backstory.  We never got that for Lydia, but I think it's doable.

She also could have been targeted in business school by someone in a large corporation looking for a a borderline psychopath type and who knew that she would take to it once introduced into it.  She reminds me of the guys running the computers that drop bombs or something.  She mentioned once with a wicked grin how much everything was under her control...at the touch of her laptop.  That detachment makes it a lot easier for people to do things with horrible consequences and maybe horrible risks.

The big stretch is for her to keep pushing to the point where she is driving out into the dessert to meet with Aryan nation sand dwellers.  But I'd like to think that was a huge thing for her...a major turning point with a lot of terror attached.  It would have been nice to have seen some of that..to see her psych herself up for it or fall apart afterward.

Bingo. Keep in mind, Gus did give a scholarship to Gale. He did the same with his friend Max, who had advanced degrees in biochemistry and chemical engineering. I'm thinking Gus vetted Gail and Lydia in the drug game like Mike did for his men.

  11. So I take it no one else saw Danny Garcia get handed a gift decision last night.  Puerto Rico judges trying to compete with Texas.

To be fair, one judge was from Panama (Padilla 114-114) and the other two were from SoCal/Mexico (Rochin 116-112) and Puerto Rico (Colon 116-112). Rochin is usually a solid judge.
