  1. Speaking of time machines, I can absolutely see this video in early 80s WWF! I take it you also have Fios Internet? Why not drop linear cable TV and use something like Sling; $40/month and has AXS? A lot of these guys we're saying would be great time traveling monsters for Hogan are big by today's standards but are too short by 1987 standards. Brody King is only 6'3" Jacob Fatu is two inches shorter.
  2. My dude, the Bucks were out there for the last minute of the show. I really love the look of Daily's Place and I'm just a sucker for shows taking place in arenas that look different from the norm. I LOL'd at Taz asking if the concrete stage had been there before, then the realization dawned on him that it was the stage they always had and it was just a different layout.
  3. There was a Bennigan’s pretty much around the corner from me up here the the far-flung DC exurbs, but the owners abandoned the franchise agreement, renamed, but somehow kept the menu the same.
  4. Joe vs Hook in a "brash young dude can't hang with a veteran but fights his ass off and doesn't know when to quit" story will be incredible. Tony needs to seriously stay the fuck off Twitter. It's embarrassing.
  5. I sincerely hope they make changes to production. I don’t watch WWE anymore that often at all, but I did try to check out the 2023 Rumble and tapped out after counting 35 camera cuts during one short sequence.
  6. For me, Deckard being human while the Batty is more "alive" than him in every way is the whole point. "More human than human" and all that. Deckard being a replicant is too cute by half, some lame Shymalan shit. "Have you ever performed that test on yourself?" is supposed to be an insult to how cold-hearted and lacking empathy Deckard is. It shouldn't be a hint at a plot twist.
  7. I like the VO for the "noir" reasons, and I believe Deckard is human because it ruins the story if he's a replicant. I've lost track of the different cuts and have no idea what the "Final Cut" even is. At this rate, there should be a streaming cut where you check/uncheck the stuff you like or don't like before the film starts, and it shows you the version you'd want to see. For me, it's: VO - yes Unicorn shit or anything that makes it obvious Deckard is a replicant - no Shining flyover - no (just end with the doors closing)
  8. Damn, I've never seen a single wrestler in the wild. I saw Axl Rotten around the neighborhood and working at my local video store when I was a kid, but that was before he was a wrestler, so it doesn't count.
  9. @Curt McGirt no audio issues on the Fite feed, so I assume it’s a TNT problem. Speaking of…man, watching this with no breaks or PnP is so much more enjoyable. I was happy for Drake and Henry getting to work Sting and Flair. For two Carolina guys, that had to be a highlight their careers. I’m kinda psyched for HoB vs FTR and Garcia. And it’s my weekly reminder that just about any trio is more interesting than the current trios champs.
  10. I didn’t see any ads for the show, so this was a surprise. I almost fainted and I swear it wasn’t the cheap bourbon and Coke Zero this time.
  11. Wardlow will be fine. Per the rules of wrestling logic, wrestlers never watch the shows. They also never talk to each other outside the shows.
  12. Well there was that one time when he did the move by vaulting over the ref’s back. Honestly, “exploding barbed wire death match 2: we swear it will work this time” is the way to go.
  13. Random notes: It wouldn't be AEW TV without a random audio botch. Good to see Quen back, though. Orange/Dante was really good. Really, just great in-ring all night. Will anyone care when Luchasaurus decides to break free? And good lord, don't also build Wardlow to that. Luchasaurus is not Batista and we already had a "Wardlow breaks free" angle that got fumbled for various reasons. Hangman grew his mustache thicker and now looks like a cowboy in a 70s porno. Great move switching up Cole's music. He's a heel now and having the fans still sing along would be dumb. Looking forward to seeing Purazzo in the mix. Bryan Keith didn't get an entrance and that sucks. DANCEOFF BRO For a split second I envisioned Garcia joining the Embassy and dancing on the ramp with Nana as Swerve made his entrance. Falling off the table with the sharpshooter was brutal. Fuck the fans who think it's still the late 90s and chanting "you fucked up" is cool. Hangman/Swerve is fine, but where do you go after a Texas Death Match? I know if it was WWE where feuds run backwards, we'd get a straight wrestling match, but not here, right?
  14. Following up on a conversation from last week's TV thread with @AxB and @Shartnado, the only other "free older PPV" I can see digging through AEW+ is Full Gear 2019. So the jury is still out on specifically how this new feature works.
  15. Couldn't wait for Sunday? (Channel 54 in Baltimore had Crockett at noon on both Saturdays and Sundays).
  16. Yeah, I can absolutely tell you 45 in Baltimore (which aired UWF at 3pm on Saturdays briefly as a lead in to WWF Wrestling Challenge, its longtime 4pm slot) didn’t do local news until it became a Fox affiliate. Also, it seriously sucks that Peacock has no UWF content.
  17. This shit kills me, man. I completely stopped watching my local TV news because it got so banal. I was a Mass Comm major in the 90s and they taught us about straight up journalism, but I wonder if things were already sliding and they were just blue-skying us. Damn, I wonder how journalism classes are today. Probably whole seminars dedicated to writing headlines that get the most hits. Kill me now.
  18. You know, I meant that in the last sentence of my first paragraph but I missed the mark. I meant pretty much all journalism today. Somewhere along the line, news organizations firmly switched over to infotainment, clickbait, rage bait, human interest stories, etc, and never looked back.
  19. Nah, man. As already mentioned, you can't take both of those statements (Jericho doing bad things and then the Weinstein statement) in a vacuum. Dude knew what he was doing. This is exactly like a headline I saw yesterday, something like, "Ortiz details difficulties in relationship with Santana, says title runs were nixed twice." The reader's assumption is, "oh holy shit, Santana is a prick and his prickishness lead to AEW stopping two proposed PnP title wins!" Turns out, reading the actual interview, that both statements were separate. 1) Santana and him have problems and 2) there were a few times they could have been booked to win the belts but it just didn't work out. But these "journalists" know what they're doing, know many don't read past the headline, and they just conflate this shit for ragebait. Also, I call bullshit on Nick Hausman standing up for Steele's wife. It's not like there's a wrestler who has his hand firmly up Hausman's puppet ass who is closer to Steele, right? I never even heard of Hausman before Brawl Out. Can we go back to those simpler times? It's insane to me that some 5th tier "wrestling journalist" gets this much attention just being a transparent mouthpiece for Phil. The absolute state of this shit today. Wrestling journalism was never amazing but this is the Fox Newsification of wrestling news. Just lies and propaganda lovingly eaten up by a willing audience of morons.
  20. Reading online, it sounds like there’s one free PPV from each year. But I can’t verify because I can’t figure out a simple way to browse all PPVs chronologically like you can with, for example, episodes of Dynamite.
  21. Thanks! We’ll see together, I guess! Anybody in the US, I highly recommend vpn and AEW+. Feel free to PM me if you need help, but you probably don’t because I’m very late to the party.
  22. I just subbed to AEW+ on fite/Triller. Can anyone tell me how often the free old PPV changes? I’m currently working through All In 2023 and I’m curious as to how long I’ll have access to it. Thanks!
  23. Rampage was great! But every time there’s an amazing trios match, I just get sad over how bad that title is currently being wasted.
  24. “Dear Dick” sounds like a column I would have stumbled across “reading” Hustler back in the day.
