  1. Finished Gold Storm, it was getting pretty great near the end but the last stretch was a bit underwhelming. In the end it was a show greater than the sum of it's parts though. Not as good as most of the other GARO series but still enjoyable on it's own.
  2. Cool, almost near the end of Gold Storm, up to ep 19 so i'll be done with it by the week end. Not sure what i'm going to watch next, got a to watch list a million miles long but i'll add that to it.
  3. Half way through Gold Storm, def a big improvement over the last season with this cast. Only major complaint is the GARO armor itself feels like an after thought and there haven't been any big or memorable suit battles yet.
  4. OK, how come no one told me there's a freakin Aja Kong guest spot in Gold Storm? NOW i'm sold Anyways, watched the Gold Storm movie the other day and the intro hype episode. I can't recall if they did this in Yami or not but there were a lot of scenes where I did notice the cast (especially Rian) over acting in a really cheesy way but at the same time there's a whacky charm to it too. Besides that the movie was pretty good so i'm my hopes are a bit higher now for the main series than they were before.
  5. Bikuu movie was pretty bad ass. You know you've watched too much shit from Japan when they bust out the weird incest sub plot and you're not even shocked. But yeah, great movie, hopefully there's a follow up of some sort as that's what the ending was kind of suggesting with them not tying up loose ends. Since Retsuden features characters from the Gold Storm universe i'm guessing it'll be helpful to watch Gold Storm first so i'll do that afterall I guess.
  6. Yeah what's the deal with Retsuden? Is this just a show with random side stories or a full tied together season focusing on one of the universes? Also, is the 2nd GARO anime any better than the 1st?
  7. K, so after like a year + of not paying attention to the franchise i'm going to get back into GARO soon. Dissapointed to learn there isn't a direct sequal TV Series to Makai No Hana yet. Guess i'll start with the Bikuu movie then and then may or may not do Goldstorm next (will get to it eventually but...meh)
  8. I'm going through and watching all of the Dragon Lee vs Kamaitachi singles matches, are there any tags involving the 2 opposite each other I should really go out of my way to see?
  9. When did Yuki Miyazaki come out of retirement?
  10. Random follow up thought on this, the fact that modern day Psicosis appears to have more or less morphed into New Jack is one of the more surreal things in wrestling to me.
  11. Anyone know, when was the last time Psicosis/Nicho had a great/really good match that wasn't a brawl?
  12. I've only ever seen 1 or 2 eps of Maison, I always meant to give it a shot but back when it was on my mind it wasn't easily available. Re Takahashi's other projects, I think her lesser known titles are the best after UY. Rumic World & Rumic Theatre were really great. Mermaid's Flesh I haven't watched but need to. Inu Yasha I gave up on before the 1st season was even finished. Another case of being way too annoyed by the characters. I'm intrigued to give Kyokai no Rinne a shot now that it's finally gotten an anime adaption.
  13. Ah, ok then yes, i've seen Jin Roh a few times. Ranma's a show I should probably give a re-watch to so see if my thoughts on it have changed. I made it to I think the 4th or 5th season before giving up. Mix of thinking it was too repetitive and finding a few of the characters annoying but that was many many years ago so maybe i'll think differently now.
  14. I was perfectly fine with how he was handling the TV myself but yeah Lum the Forever is def the worst of the bunch, Always my Darling I enjoyed for what it was and liked a lot in the end. Kerberos Panzer Jager i've never heard of, going to have to look up some info on that one. Also good reminder that I need to re-watch the Patlabor tv series sometime even though Oshii didn't direct that one.
  15. Hard to believe considering it's one of my top 2 favorite anime series of all time but I only just now got around to FINALLY watching the uncut subbed version of Urusei Yatsura Beautiful Dreamer. I'd previously only seen the dubbed version that used to air on Sci Fi Channel back in the day. Always thought it was good but never as great as the hype. The subbed version is def even better but I still can't put it on the same pedistal others do. Maybe just not whacky enough which is what I love about the franchise most of all, dunno, can't put my finger on why I don't like it as much. To be the 1st, 3rd and 5th movies are all better.
  16. On this subject, I have no clue why but for some strange reason I loved the heck of the Legend of Galactic Heroes Gaiden Part 1 opening. It's sappy, cheesey and isn't even close to giving an accurate idea of what the show is really like but I dug the heck out of this one
  17. Decided to finally give Space Adventure Cobra a try after having wanted to check it out for years. I started with the movie because that came out first but kind of wish I hadn't. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a great intro to the franchise either. Plot was kind of scattered and i'd have probably enjoyed things better if I had any sort of attachment to the characters before hand. Felt like a cross between a B level Lupin special and Crusher Joe.
  18. Finally delving back into the world of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Gone through the 3 movies in the past few days, Golden Wings, My Conquest is the Sea of Stars & Overture to a New War. All of them do a good job of matching the quality of the main series and reminding me why it's in my top 5 or so list of anime. Now to move on to the 52 ep side stories oavs.
  19. .........based on that I really want to watch Fourze now....and Gurren Lagann...
  20. Finished Gundam Reconguista and man, I don't even know what to say, it really was just that bad. I won't say it's the worst anime i've ever seen but it's up there and certainly the worst i've ever seen that was made by someone I consider to be very talented. It was fascinating in a weird psychological study sort of way, like "wow, they legit thought they were making something good, what was going through their minds". The last few modern era mech shows i've watched have all been so disapointing, kinda bums me out. Makes me want to go re-watch Votoms again just to cheer myself up....
