I was totally hoping Rowan was going to have solved the Rubix Cube when he joined the promo.

Is it wrong that I want Rowan to take Kane's spot as the big monster who is funny?

Kane hasn't occupied that "funny" spot nearly as often as he should have. More often than not, Kane's dead weight. So Rowan wouldn't really be replacing him.

Speaking of Kane being dead weight, I really wish Hunter was an official competitor tonight in Kane's place. The finish was overwrought in that usual Hunter way, so why not?

Don't get me wrong though. I loved it.

  2. Funny that they went through the whole rigamarole with Hoover flipping Narcisse and nothing came of it this season. They didn't have time I guess.

As per Winter, it was one of the stories which got lost in the time jump. By the time 1931 rolled around, the FBI had become less interested in black nationalists.

  3. I agree with your choices. Wyatts vs Shield at EC is so far and away my top pick that nothing else compares. Though I do want to add a couple more honourable mentions to the discussion: Lesnar vs Cena at SummerSlam, and the Wyatts vs Usos 2/3 falls match.

I'll definitely need to rewatch the Shield-Evolution matches, Bryan-Bray, and the Elimination Chamber match to remind myself how good those were, but I remember ranking them all quite high.

I also have a soft spot for anything Rollins vs Ambrose (MITB ladder match, lumberjack match, post-SummerSlam street fight).

I just watched Roddy Piper prove a point by dropping his pants and ranting in front of Bill Maher.

    Wrestling is odd.

Could you give more about the story? Like, what was the rant about, when, where, etc.

I just discovered that this was a thing:

Start at around 7:25 if you want to see Piper show some ass. Lord knows how much you guys love that.

  5. Windham Rotunda handed WWE gold with Bray Wyatt and they fucking piss it away by making them just another group of heels and feeding them to Super Cena.

Eating losses in a big feud against John Cena never hurt anyone. It's all about where they go from there. What killed Bray was letting him fall into relative obscurity and become just another guy working a series of matches with Sheamus.

Cena doesn't kill careers. Creative not knowing how to book a compelling midcard kills careers.

  6.  RVD and Jericho have both come back and disappeared again without explanation.

The strangest thing about this is that those two sort of got killed on a couple TVs and then showed up for like another week after that before disappearing. Orton murdered RVD on the SmackDown following Dean's thing with the cinder blocks, but RVD showed up the next week. Jericho's knee died a death in the cage match with Bray and then Orton season-premiere'd him.

Orton's seriously being undermined by their ho-hum booking.

  7. Nikki's ass attack almost makes sense given that she took time in a promo at some point in the last couple weeks to call attention to her voluptuous derrière (her words, not mine; don't shoot the messenger, I generally keep my perving to myself).

    Almost.

P.S. Whatever your opinion is of Cena, it's amazing how quickly he attaches himself to the latest hot act in the hopes that a few people might stop booing him.

It's actually light years away from amazing. When a guy gets hot, he rises up the card. When he rises up the card, perennial headliner and face of the business John Cena will be there waiting for him. Some guys stay at the top of the card. Some guys drop back down. It's the name of the game. But the conspiracy theory put forth by so many that Cena gets in the orbit of these guys so he can leach their heat and cast them aside never rang true to me. Cena's been cool with the mixed reactions for years and knows his place is safe. The idea that he's so insecure that he'd try to sabotage the Zack Ryders of the world is absurd.

I got many a laugh last year when people pulled out the mental gymnastics to explain how Cena saving Bryan from the wrath of Ryback is akin to a burial (after Bryan's third match of the night no less).

  8. I was also sincerely hoping we'd get footage of Dean Ambrose crawling through the air ducts like John McClaine.

No such footage exists because Dean didn't pull a John McClaine. He pulled an Andy Dufresne. He'll see Seth in hell before he sees him in Reno!

Okay. Now I'm going to bed!

  9. There are people out there who're still stuck in the fox hole they dug way back in 2006. They'll be spending their night on the internet complaining about John Cena latching onto another hot act in a desperate attempt to usurp their heat. They are not dead. They are not satisfied.

But I'm going to bed. Because I am satisfied.
