  1. True. Yeah I guess its more a style thing than a size thing. Brawling babyfaces vs. smaller stooging heels? Like did Dick Murdoch and Terry Funk ever work baby against the Midnights? Shit now I want to see that...
  2. This might belong in the general thread, but the prospect of Bucks vs Kingston/Mox got me wondering, what are historical examples of great small/flying heel vs larger babyface tag team matches? I’m drawing a blank but I’m sure I’m just a moron.
  3. Well shit now I’m wondering if Jungle Boy isn’t the most lawfully good babyface on the roster. I think he is! Even Best Friends and like -1 have shown an edge. Riho isn’t around. Jungle Boy is the 2021 moral Ricky Steamboat?
  4. This was my shit. I watch AEW for the original talent so seeing a show focused on Page/Starks/Shida/Conti/Hobbs/Jungle Boy/Darby Allin was dead center up my alley. Allin is stupid good. Like we always talk about how good he is and I think we are still underrating him good.
  5. Man you can totally rebook the DDP Bingo Winnings angle with Grimes when Dogecoin tanks or whatever. Keep that in your back pocket for now, but in 6 months to a year that will be really fun.
  6. WSB stonk bro Cameron Grimes is a shockingly topical gimmick by WWE standards.
  7. Dark is to me the closest thing to WCWSN that we’ve had since. The commentary, mix of squashes and lower card competitive matches. Just easy listening man.
  8. Velveteen Dream still being employed is utter horse shit though for real
  9. I won’t call them evil for releasing talent because the roster is massive and they’re a public company and I totally get it, but I will call them moronic for some of the names that they did release. Kay and Joe are money just standing there talking - crazy to let them go.
  10. If JR is going to keep doing random call outs to the 1983 Mid South upper mid card, I need less Karl Kox and more Buck Robley.
  11. I agree that JR's disclaimer was an own goal. "So-and-so has really gotten themselves into tremendous shape during their time off" is an age-old wrestling and sports in general trope, and I don't think any disclaimer was necessary.
  12. I'm digging everything they are building to. Wonder about the title scene, though. I know we're 6 weeks out but there's been so little build of a challenger for DoN (not that I mind; totally cool with Less Kenny) that I'm wondering if they aren't going for some kind of "special challenger" deal like Okada. No one wants to see them run Mox back, too early for Hangman. Christian? Kingston?
  13. Oh yeah, Ogogo using a body blow as a finish. Totally loved that. Don't think I've ever seen that before.
  14. I enjoyed the mix of styles tonight, with a modern style tag title match, a throwback NWA-style match with Jericho and Harwood and a weapons brawl / Russo cluster in the main. Much better show than last week, IMO. Jericho/Harwood was way better than I expected, and holy shit that Tyson punch! Jericho's best match in a while, IMO. Man, once you hear the blatant Horsemen theme undertones in the Pinnacle theme you just can't unhear them. I can dig it. I think they were shooting for "Paul Heyman ECW where various storylines intersect in a match" with the middle third of the main, but it didn't work for me and I think they should have left that on the cutting room floor. Sick finish though! I also absolutely love the Bill Watts- and JR-approved logic behind Baker's push toward the title. That's why you have a Top 5, to use it as a plot device like this. She's great and there's a nice rogue's gallery for her as a champion (Rosa, Statlander, Conti, Deeb, Velvet).
  15. You-de-serve-it *clap clap clapclapclap*
  16. So, will Lumis see the tape that Indi was faking it before next week's show? Or is that not part of NXT Universe internal logic?
  17. If the Bucks show up with bald heads and beards and start dishing out shining wizards I mean I’ll at least give a little bit of a shit
  18. My first reaction was "Matt Flynn took fewer bumps than Matt Cassel" *checks Spotrac* Matt Cassel made 60 million dollars?! My God. I stand corrected. Let's chalk Flynn up as WCW Lanny Poffo
  19. While both the 6 mans and the E/Roman 1:1 would be amazing, my only concern is booking yourself into a corner. E can't really lose his big world title chance when it comes, and Roman shouldn't be losing clean to anyone for a good long while - this summer feels way too soon.
  20. WWE has really toned down the impact of the post-WM Raw over the past few years. This felt even more business-as-usual than normal.
  21. I actually like that idea of using Rock/Roman to run a stadium show with another one of your big PPV's, knowing that WM sells on name alone anyway. It fits the timeline with respect to both the story as well as COVID restrictions better, too. Given months of advance advertising, I wonder what a summer timeframe Rock/Roman stadium match in a big market would draw
  22. Alexa travels through the forbidden door to the Lake of Reincarnation and sacrifices the puppets to Carcosa in order to summon Max Cady Bray Wyatt back. The Feaux Fiend gets tossed in by a returning Eric Rowan, never to been seen or heard from again. Alexa returns a few months later without remembering anything. Like there are worse ways to tie up this nonsense.
  23. The opener was poo and all, but if the reveal is that Bliss was actually the one in charge this either time, I can dig that and am intrigued. Of course then the bell has to ring at some point, though. Sheamus is the sneaky top 5 guy in the world right now and I’m extremely happy he won. Just putting in awesome work. Roman is THE top guy in the world right now, and I don’t think he should ever lose.
