  1. One of these guys would kick the shit out of you. The other one was (especially in this timeframe) a master at eating offense. This is fun!
  2. That Lola Gonzalez vs. Irma Gonzales match rules as well. There's a proto Malenko/Guerrero-esque rollup sequence near the finish that had me biting on 2-3 nearfalls in a row, then finishes with an impressively stiff powerbomb. It's maybe not as smooth as the work you'd see today, but this would fit right in today's scene. It's been a good day for me watching stuff that I've never seen from companies that I'm otherwise super familiar with. Edit: And to contribute yet something else I watched for the first time today, I stumbled across this, which is just a ton of fun.
  3. Blasphemous is one of the free Amazon Prime offerings on Twitch this month. 2D Souls-like, Metroidvania. Not quite as punishingly hard as the Souls series, though.
  4. Man, this was everything I love about pro wrestling in a tidy little package.
  5. After telling myself I wouldn’t, I went back and got all the achievements in Valhalla. The last two I needed (150m slide in the snow & defeating 3 “hard” enemies while on fire) were fickle as hell, but I did it. Good game, but I’m super done with it.
  6. Anyone know if the footage aired on Pro Wrestling Plus (I gather that it was a Pro Wrestling This Week type show that aired in Canada on TSN) was the same as what was on PWTW? Someone uploaded an episode from ‘88 to YouTube. I had no idea that this show even existed. Ed Whalen is certainly not the replacement most would want for Pedicino or Solie, though. The stuff airing here doesn’t match up with the PWTW listings I have, but I’m not sure how complete/accurate those are. I’m in the process of cataloging my DVDs (it’s been my quarantine project) and haven’t gotten to that set just yet.
  7. Today, the head of the publishing company indicated that the game is “not trying to make a political statement.” https://www.polygon.com/2021/2/15/22279600/six-days-in-fallujah-interview-iraq-war-politics I wish Polygon had pushed back harder on this article. Rami Ismail (@tha_rami) has been tearing into this dude’s statement on Twitter. It’s a thread worth reading. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1361409118146334720.html
  8. This was awesome and I thank you for the recommendation. Fantastic heat, with two faces that are extremely talented at building the sympathy of the crowd. Awesome punching by Murdoch and Lothario in particular as well. This also has what might be the biggest bump I've ever seen Gary Hart take. He's Gary Hart, so he doesn't actually sell it much, but you have to expect that with him. As an aside, it's early 1978 and Bronco Lubich still looks and moves like he's 100 years old. Heh.
  9. Finished Valhalla today. 93% done. I have never played a game that has more game in it, if that makes sense. Just layer upon layer of more stuff to do. The part of me that likes to check off lists was thrilled to look at a blank map, but man...I put 160 hours into this game. I can say that I can
  10. Are there any “key” Al Madril matches worth tracking down? I’m mostly familiar with him in later-era World Class and never really thought much of his work. He was near the end of his career by that point, I guess. Thought he was a decent promo, though. I know he featured in Portland, but I’m not sure where to start. I ask because I’m currently watching some Texas All-Star Wrestling that someone put up on YouTube and there’s an angle with he and Chavo Guerrero as partners, with Chavo turning face after Madril and Black Gordman beat down Gory Guerrero. Super hot angle and the promos around it have got me hooked.
  11. Khan and Hogan had a run in summer/early fall '87 (though didn't wrestle at MSG). Including a Stretcher Match that I'm not sure made tape.
  12. This channel is uploading a bunch of old IWC/IWCCW footage to Youtube. Don't know that it's "rare," but I've seen next to none of it. This one jumped out to me. Ted Petty looks so tiny here. I'm also interested on finding more of the Lethal Weapons. Dennis Condrey & Doug Gilbert sounds like a fun tag team. EDIT: So, there's a run in from Leopard Mask at the end of this. I was just digging around trying to find out who that was and everything points to *that* being Ted Petty. But the prematch promo is clearly Ted Petty, so who in the world was under the Leopard Mask gimmick?
  13. Star Wars: Battlefront II: Celebration Edition is this week's free game from the Epic Game Store.
  14. They had their yearly "Almanac and Book of Facts" Found a pic of the covers from that timeframe, in case one looks familiar...
  15. Current weekly TV? I've watched Dynamite for the last 3-4 weeks, which is as long as I've watched any modern weekly show since...somewhere around Raw 1000, I think. I've also been trying to catch at least the main matches from all of the All Japan and NOAH shows over the last 6 months or so. My current "projects" are (re)watching World Class TV (currently through February '85), UWF TV (up to '87) and smattering in Monday Night Wars stuff that I literally haven't watched since it first aired. I don't exactly binge through any of it (though I'm certainly doing more than 1 episode a week). Just pick an episode or two based on what what I'm in the mood for that night. There's also a few youtube channels that I'll pick and choose what to watch. So there's a bunch of other various territorial stuff mixed in at times. Was just watching a Pro Wrestling USA show earlier, actually.
  16. Hell of a coat on Terry here.
  17. Borrowed Miles Morales from the library. I'm not sure I've ever had more fun with the basic movement in a game as I have this and Spider-Man before it. They absolutely nailed the webslinging in every way possible. Though it doesn't feel like it'll be a long story, I'm all in on it. Good writing, with a character I genuinely like, whose motivations I understand. Lots of heart Gameplay-wise, I think the Venom powers make the combat a little more varied/interesting, but I've had to force myself to *not* be stealthy, because it's just as easy to Batman it up and take out everyone without them even knowing that you're around. I feel like the first game broke stealth much more quickly. I thought it was to that game's benefit, but I might be in the minority there. The stealth isn't unfun, even, but the combat is so dynamic that I don't want to avoid it. I was glad to take a break from Valhalla. I've hit that point where my OCD style of clearing the map has sorta bored me on the game as a whole. I feel like I'm only halfway done and that seems impossible because it feels like I've been playing the game FOREVER. I'll need to find something else to play before I start Watch Dogs: Legion, I think. I might be Ubi'd out at the moment.
  18. Larry Nelson trying to do journalism here is funny. Col. DeBeers certainly doesn't mince words on his feelings about Scott Hall and the juice...
  19. When I first started watching AWA (popped up on ESPN in late ‘85, right?), I though Bock was a shitty, boring old man. Kids are fucking dumb. There are few guys now who I get more excited to see new to me footage of.
  20. On 1/1, the Nook ATM will also restock with another handful of limited time New Year’s items.
  21. If you make an imperfect snowman, you can just quit out, close the game and restart and the snowballs will respawn. You can keep doing it until it's perfect. This is apparently what my wife has been doing, I guess. I also realized today that, if you're on a 2-player island and not the one making the snowmen, you can still talk to them and get a DIY recipe. No Large Snowflakes, though...
  22. 6:58 for me. Look forward to seeing these pop up.
